Financial firm announces appointments as it celebrates 25th anniversary

Yahoo3 days ago
An expanding North East financial firm is celebrating its 25th anniversary with two senior team members appointments.
Active Chartered Financial Planners, in Stockton, has welcomed chartered financial planner Craig Honeyman and chartered paraplanner Lauren Lee to its team.
This comes as the firm's demand continues to grow.
These appointments follow a successful recruitment drive in 2024, which saw four additional team members, including another chartered financial planner, join the company.
This brings the total number of chartered qualified individuals to 15 within a 29-member team.
Craig Honeyman, who has more than 20 years of financial planning experience, has built a reputation for providing expert advice, particularly in pension and retirement planning, investment planning, and home finance.
He holds an advanced diploma in financial planning and achieved chartered status with the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2022.
Lauren Lee, who has been in the financial services industry since 2011, joins as a chartered paraplanner.
Ms Lee has a wealth of experience in compliance and operational support roles and is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Karl Pemberton, managing director at Active Chartered Financial Planners, said: "This year marks a significant milestone for us as a business.
"While we're proud to celebrate 25 years of helping clients across the region, our focus is firmly on the future.
"The additions of Craig and Lauren reflect our continued growth and the high demand for quality advice and support.
"Both bring exceptional experience and share our commitment to putting clients first.
"We are thrilled to welcome them to the team."
The two new recruits also bring personal connection and knowledge of the region.
Mr Honeyman is based in Guisborough, where he lives with his family.
Ms Lee recently returned to the North East after living in Abu Dhabi for more than two years with her husband and daughter.
Ms Lee said: "Active Chartered Financial Planners has been incredibly welcoming.
"I knew a lot about their culture before I came here, and it really hasn't disappointed.
"The management is so approachable, the team is so friendly, and the firm is so adaptable and understanding towards its employees.
"They really care if you are happy or not.
"It is lovely to be happy to go to work, as not many people get to say that."
Mr Honeyman added: "I was drawn to Active Chartered Financial Planners because of its independent status, strong local reputation, and client-centred approach.
"The firm's values, culture, and ethics closely align with my own.
"Being part of a chartered firm, working alongside so many other highly skilled individuals was a huge part in my decision to join."

Rodrygo's £350k-a-Week Demand Stalls Premier League Transfer Interest

Rodrygo's Premier League Future Clouded by Wage Demands Rodrygo's potential move from Real Madrid to the Premier League has hit a major stumbling block, with his wage demands reported at £350k-a-week. According to The Express, Manchester City were quoted this figure during initial discussions, with Pep Guardiola a known admirer of the Brazilian winger. Arsenal and Liverpool, both monitoring the situation closely, would likely face the same financial challenge. Tottenham are also interested, but such a salary is expected to rule them out. One source close to the negotiations noted, 'This hefty wage demand will likely deter Tottenham.' Real Madrid's stance is firm, with a £76 million transfer fee set for the 24-year-old, who is also on Bayern Munich's radar. City's hesitation stems from the fact that his request is 'akin to what Kevin De Bruyne was earning before his move to Napoli this summer.' As a result, the Premier League champions have paused their pursuit, waiting to see if the forward reduces his demands. Photo: IMAGO Meanwhile, in a separate transfer development, The Express report that Nottingham Forest have returned with an improved £30 million bid for City midfielder James McAtee, which could rise to £35 million with add-ons. Our View – EPL Index Analysis This is a story that has Premier League fans split. From a Liverpool perspective, £350k-a-week for Rodrygo feels steep, especially under the current wage structure. While Arne Slot is seeking pace and creativity out wide, that salary would shatter Liverpool's pay hierarchy and could create dressing room tension. Many fans feel those funds might be better used for a more balanced rebuild. For Manchester City supporters, the reaction is more pragmatic. Guardiola clearly rates Rodrygo, but City have shown in the past that they will walk away if the numbers are excessive. Matching Kevin De Bruyne's previous salary for a player yet to prove himself in England might not be worth the gamble. Arsenal fans might view this as a potential game-changer in their attack, but they will also recognise the risk of committing such a high wage to a single player. Tottenham fans, meanwhile, might already be resigned to seeing the move fall through due to the club's stricter wage policy. If Rodrygo genuinely wants Premier League football, a compromise on wages seems inevitable. Until then, his future appears to be firmly in Madrid's hands.

Rules on owning pets ease for families in 900 military homes in Northern Ireland

Families living in 900 military homes in Northern Ireland should find it easier to own pets under new rules announced on Sunday. Service personnel and their families have previously faced a bureaucratic process to get permission to own a pet if they live in military housing. From this week, they can now keep up to two dogs, cats or smaller pets without needing permission. The change is part of wider reforms that will allow military homes to be more personalised, including an easier process for allowing family members of troops to run a business from their home. The changes are part of Defence Secretary John Healey's pledge to 'stop the rot' and improve standards in service accommodation. In April, Mr Healey announced a new 'consumer charter' for service accommodation, including more reliable repairs, a named housing officer for every service family and a higher minimum standard for housing. The Government has also brought 36,000 military homes back into public ownership in an effort to reduce costs and improve standards.
