Renaissance skin is trending – here's the backstage beauty from London Fashion Week

Independent23-02-2025

Annie's Ibiza brought 'renaissance skin' to the runway at London Fashion Week, kicking off a new trend that leaves 'glass skin' in 2024.
The professionals behind the look wanted to bring healthy skin to the runway; skin with 'colour, life and health', said Argentum skin expert Vera Araujo.
This trend disbands with the familiar pore-less, mannequin skin of past fashion weeks, and focuses on the skin's microbiome and portraying more natural beauty.
'We use (l'eau de jouvence soothing silver tonic water) after cleansing the skin that contains DNA HP, this is what is now used in injectable, anti-ageing treatments,' says Araujo, 'it's the new upgrade from hyaluronic acid that has been used for years.
'It's anti-fungal, so it's focus is on purifying the skin.
'We want to feed and protect (the skin's) microbiome. It's about gently polishing, not stripping the skin.'
The gentle and pure approach to the skin meant leant into the make-up for the show, which was inspired by the great 15th century heroines of Renaissance Italy.
'It's not about appearing woeful and waiting,' says lead MAC Cosmetics make-up artist Dominic Skinner, '(the model is) strong and empowered.
'For the cheeks, we wanted to create a flush, as though she's just come back from battle. She's not passive, she's strong and regal,' says Skinner.
'With the blush application, we're applying it to the apples of the cheeks and then straight across to the ear, as opposed to going up the cheekbone.
'This is a very purposeful placement, because it's very masculine. It's squaring off the cheek, instead of, making it a diamond.
'By doing that, it creates power in the make-up so it's less delicate and more bold.'
While the emphasis was on the skin this season, the lids featured a subtle dash of gold, almost gilded armour for the eyes.
'It's pretty much unnoticeable, but there's a little thin line of gold on the on the lash line, which creates this glint in the eye, adding that radiance beaming from above in this almost godly way.'
The lips followed suit.
'The lip is all about the strength,' says Skinner, 'we've got this really strong, dark berry using Nightmoth lip pencil with D for Danger MAC lipstick over the top.
'This creates a sort of blackberry, bitten lip, reminiscent of Joan of Arc.'
While skinimilism has been trending for a while, this stronger and more angular approach changes the game, leaving behind the demure and pore-less filtered skin behind, opting for a realer and bolder look.
'Renaissance skin' means we may see softer eye looks, less bronzer and more blush in 2025.

Princess Andre makes runway debut on catwalk at Ibiza Fashion Festival in a blue two-piece before mum Katie jetted to island for week of partying

Princess Andre made her runway debut as she walked the catwalk at Ibiza Fashion Festival earlier this month. The daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre, 17, was among the models at the opening of the festival at Bibo Park. Taking to the runway in her first show, Princess wore a blue sparkly bikini top with white and blue tailed wide-leg trousers featuring cut-outs. Princess's appearance on the island came just days before her former glamour model mum, 47, flew to the Balearic Island for a week of partying, seen dancing the night away with Wayne Lineker. Katie caught up with famous pals including Wayne at his O Beach club, Dean Gaffney and Jamie O'Hara before heading to Dubai. Meanwhile Princess recently revealed that she's 'not a big drinker' because she'd 'never want to embarrass herself' as she spoke in a candid new interview. The influencer, who turns 18 this weekend, was discussing how she'd want to celebrate her milestone birthday but told how it won't be a boozy affair. The daughter of singer Peter Andre and former glamour model Katie Price also broke her silence on her split from her boyfriend of two years back in May. Speaking to OK! Magazine she described being the in the spotlight from a young age, but in terms of living a wild youth like her parents she insisted she'd never want to be in a 'position that would make her look bad'. She said: 'I'm not really a big drinker or a big party-goer. I'm not the sort of person who would embarrass myself. 'I'll never put myself in a position that would make me look bad.' She also chatted about being single and said she is always keen to keep her romantic life private. Princess said of her split last month: 'I'm feeling good. I've always kept my personal life personal so I don't talk too much about it but now is the time to focus on me.' It was reported last month that she had split from her boyfriend of two years after her busy career left 'no place for a man'. While her former flame remains unnamed, Princess declared last year that she was 'in love'. According to The Su n Princess, who kept much of her relationship out of the public eye, will be doing the same with the 'tough' break up. A source told the publication: 'They just grew apart, they were each other's first love so it has been tough but there are no hard feelings.' 'He's still on good terms with both Katie and Peter, Princess is really concentrating on her career right now and there's no place for a man'. Princess' reps declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline. The teen first went public with their romance when she invited him along to her mother Katie's 45th birthday celebrations in Brighton in May 2023. Katie then appeared on Jamie Laing's Private Parts podcast, where she opened up on her thoughts about the romance. Speaking to OK! Magazine she described being the in the spotlight from a young age but in terms of living a wild youth like her parents she insisted she'd never want to be in a 'position that would make her look bad' (seen with mum Katie) Discussing her Christmas plans at the time, she revealed: 'Princess and her boyfriend are coming up with me for the weekend.' Jamie excitedly interrupted: 'Princess has a boyfriend!' causing Katie to reply: 'I know, Ed. He's alright actually.' Describing their relationship, she continued: 'I watch them, and they argue, then they laugh. They argue like proper little teenagers. 'They're both like jealous of each other and it's like, "Oh shut up you two!" They are funny together, they're like a little married couple.'

Oti Mabuse breaks down in tears on Loose Women after emotional family revelation

Oti Mabuse was seen getting emotional on the Loose Women panel earlier today, as she reminisced on her time on the TV show DNA journey with her sister Motsi Oti Mabuse emotional as she chats about her family history Oti Mabuse broke down in tears on today's episode of Loose Women as she spoke about her emotional journey on the show, DNA Journey. During the episode of the ITV show, which aired in 2023, Oti and Motsi Mabuse explored their family history in South Africa, in which they discovered a WWII connection. ‌ Their grandfather, Paulus Mabuse, fought for the British in the Native Military Corps during the war. During the ITV daytime show, Oti revisited a clip of herself and her sister Motsi when they found out, which moved her to tears. ‌ In the clip, Oti and Motsi were seen breaking down in tears when they were given medals their grandfather received for his work in the armed forces. 'It's a good thing, it's an amazing thing. Please don't think we're sad. One of the missing pieces that we've missed and needed to hear for so long, it's a beautiful thing. We're so grateful. These are tears of, "Oh my God!"' The pair said they had "no idea" that there were war medals in their family, as they learnt their grandfather fought for the British in World War II. Oti revealed that her grandfather, along with many others were promised land. However, they were relocated and left in the middle of nowhere. Oti said it made her feel "horrendous" as she said both her and Motsi cried their make-up off. However, she said they felt liberated knowing where they come from. "Now I know that I'm a granddaughter of a soldier," she told the panel, before the clip was played. As they cut back to the studio after the clip was played, Oti wiped away he tears as she said: "It's moving. ‌ "Also, I think that we tried to look for something, we didn't wait for the show to come to us. We also asked our parents, and you can see the generational trauma that it causes. "My dad didn't speak to his dad and so he didn't know. All that they knew is maybe they drank, they went to the mine, and then they died. He didn't know that his life served a purpose and he helped save the world. ‌ "We're here because of people like our grandad, and it means the world to us." Speaking on her experience on Loose Women, Oti said it was the "best show" she'd ever done. "It gave me something personally back. Our history in South Africa is really rough. Specifically with my family it was wiped out, so we had no way of getting any information." Tonight, Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes will be taking part in the ITV show to discover their family history. In the episode, the duo start off in Jamaica. There, JLS star Marvin finds out that his Great Grandma Blanche was not actually married to his Great Grandfather David James. ‌ They had four children, but immediately after the fourth, Marvin's Grandma Ruby, was born in 1930, David James left. Meanwhile, Sam flies into a panic when he is told he has an ancestor who spent time in Jamaica. 'It doesn't sounds good, don't say it..' he says. However, he is relieved to learn there is no slavery connection. It comes after Sam admits to Marvin that he knew "nothing" about his family history before taking part in the show.

EXCLUSIVE Chloe Ferry says she is 'just having a good time' when asked about picture of her with married footballer Kieran Tripper at very boozy party as she admits she 'wants to stay single'

has finally addressed being linked to married Newcastle United ace Kieran Trippier. The Geordie Shore star, 29, was seen partying in Ibiza with ex-England international Kieran, 34, who confirmed his separation from wife Charlotte last week. And when speaking exclusively to MailOnline at Shein's VIP O Beach event, Chloe claimed they are 'just friends', and she was just 'having a good time' with him on the Balearic party island. She added that she isn't looking to date anyone following her split from on-off boyfriend Johnny Wilbo. 'No comment. I just want to be by myself, I don't want a man,' the TV personality explained. Chloe, who decided to move to Ibiza last month, continued: 'I came here because I was single and I thought I'm gonna live my best life, why not.' Chloe also revealed she is already considering moving back to the UK: 'I'm missing home. 'I've been here for three weeks now. I've just lived my best life. I turn 30 in two months so I just thought I'm gonna do what I need to do. 'I've had such a good time, but my body is like Chloe, no more drinking. I will tell my grandkids about this trip.' Kieran was spotted partying with Geordie Shore star Chloe and her pals including Love Island star Jess Harding at Ushuaïa Ibiza. In pictures obtained by The Sun, Trippier had his arm around newly single Chloe and the pair were said to be 'very tactile' with each other. The insider told the publication: 'Chloe and her friends were introduced to Kieran and his mates and they partied together. 'Kieran was very tactile and put his arm around her when they were together at the club. Chloe is newly single and she was just having some fun. 'They were together in the day and later on in the evening Chloe was with Kieran and their group of mates.' After the picture emerged, it was claimed that Trippier's estranged wife Charlotte is consulting lawyers about their marriage. Trippier married Charlotte in Cyprus in 2016 and the couple have three children together, Jacob, and two daughters, Esme and Isla. Sources say that they were keen to keep their split a secret so their children would not have to deal with any upset. However, it has been reported that Charlotte has a new property where she lives without her estranged husband. A source said: 'Charlotte has been open with her friends about getting a divorce. She has been seeking legal advice and is keen to move on with her life. 'Kieran is a devoted dad but as a partner it hasn't worked out as Charlotte had hoped.' The source added that Charlotte had moved house and divorce was 'the next logical step' but she wanted their relationship 'amicable'. The footballer said on Wednesday in a statement on Instagram stories: 'I feel I have no choice but to confirm publicly that myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. 'Myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. I have not commented previously as it is a private matter and we want to protect our children.' Rumours of their split began during last year's Euros in Germany when Charlotte unfollowed her husband on Instagram on the end of the England's final group game. She also did not jet to Germany like other WAGs. The sportsman announced his retirement from international football in August last year - with MailOnline revealing how he wanted to to focus on life outside the game following his marriage breakdown.
