Sixty-year-old man dies while hiking in Penang Botanical Gardens
Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) John Sagun Francis said the victim was identified as Lim Kee Wan, 60.
He said his team received an emergency call at 9.56 am informing them that a man had fainted and was unconscious.
"The Operation Exit Team (PKO) from the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) arrived at the scene at 10.11 am, and attempted to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but failed to save the victim," he said in a statement today.
He added that the victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel who were also at the scene and the body was subsequently brought down to the foot of the hill before being handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama

KUALA BERANG, July 26 — Six students of a Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Melaka were expelled with immediate effect after being found involved in a bullying incident last Friday, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said today. He said the decision followed a disciplinary committee meeting and investigation that confirmed the students' involvement, adding that no appeals will be entertained to ensure the action serves as a lesson to others. 'Mara will not compromise on bullying for any reason. No excuse can justify such behaviour. How severe the bullying comes second. If you touch (bully), you go,' he said. He was speaking to reporters after attending the Hulu Terengganu Umno Division Meeting 2025 in Jenagor here. Asyraf said he had received numerous social media alerts about the incident since Saturday and immediately ordered MARA's management to submit a report, which confirmed the case. Meanwhile, he said MARA is recruiting hostel wardens under a pilot project for MRSM Besut in Terengganu and MRSM Balik Pulau in Penang starting August, with three male and three female wardens to be appointed at each campus. New front opens as clashes between Thailand and Cambodia continue

Both sides again accused each other of initiating fire, as tensions between the South-East Asian neighbours continued to escalate. The Thai Navy is now also involved in the conflict. ALSO READ: Thai Navy joins conflict against Cambodia as death toll climbs to 30 Long-standing tensions between the two countries flared on Thursday, when exchanges of fire broke out along the border. In response, the Thai military said it had deployed fighter jets against Cambodian positions. Cambodia responded with artillery fire, including on residential areas. It remains unclear who fired first. On Friday evening, Thailand imposed martial law in eight districts in the provinces of Trat and Chanthaburi, citing "ongoing threats to national security" posed by Cambodia. The Foreign Ministry in Bangkok said martial law would allow the military to carry out all necessary operations to maintain peace and order. In Cambodia, 13 people have been killed so far, including eight civilians, the Phnom Penh Post reported, citing Phnom Penh's Defence Ministry. More than 70 people have been injured, 50 of them civilians, according to the newspaper. Images circulating online showed groups of people arriving at the border with their belongings. Cambodia on Friday called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. "Cambodia asked for an immediate ceasefire - unconditionally - and we also call for the peaceful solution of the dispute," Cambodia's ambassador to the UN, Chhea Keo, said following a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York. Keo dismissed Bangkok's accusations that Cambodia had attacked, pointing out that Cambodia's army is only a third the size of Thailand's. He also said that Cambodia lacks a fully equipped air force. Lee Chong Wei, Tengku Zafrul among those to receive Penang titles today
GEORGE TOWN, July 26 — Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz heads the list of 1,530 recipients of state awards, honours and medals in conjunction with the 84th birthday of Governor of Penang, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, today. Tengku Zafrul will be honoured with the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which carries the title Datuk Seri, followed by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Penang Malay Association President Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yussof Abdul Latiff, and MMAG Holdings Berhad Executive Chairman Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador. A total of 17 individuals will be awarded the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which also carries the title Datuk Seri, including Penang State Secretary Datuk Zulkifli Long, Transport Ministry Secretary-General Datuk M Jana Santhiran, Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, and national badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
