In an Instagram video, Anjali Mukherjee explains, "So you don't need to drink alcohol to get fatty liver. You can get fatty liver minus the alcohol. It is called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease."
So, what can trigger it? The nutritionist shares, "It happens when you drink too much of fruit juice, sweetened beverages, eat a lot of dessert, eat a lot of refined carbs, a lot of chocolatey and sweet things all the time," adding, "When you just overeat, you get fatty liver."
Anjali Mukherjee also explains what fatty liver basically is: "When fat builds up within the liver cells, it's called fatty liver." But how do you know you have fatty liver? According to the nutritionist, you may not know right away, but your body will whisper certain symptoms that can indicate it.
She mentions, "You feel nauseous, you feel tired, you feel sluggish, you don't feel yourself, and there is a problem with the digestion. You feel bloated, and there is a lot of distension. You may be constipated as well. And of course, when you do a blood test, the liver enzymes may have risen. Taking ordinary medicines causes you a lot of nausea at that point, and you feel there is something wrong most of the time."
What is the solution? Anjali writes, "Your liver is telling you it's overwhelmed."
Cut refined carbs
Start gentle detox
Move your body every day
Support your liver with herbs like milk thistle
"NAFLD is reversible when treated at the root," she concludes the video on a positive note.

This 70-year-old lifts weight at the gym. Her simple, vegetarian diet goes viral, "Ghar par, thoda sa...."
70-year-old weightlifter Roshni Devi Sangwan, who has gone viral on IG for her weight lifting videos, recently revealed her simple, vegetarian diet at home. Nothing fancy or fad, the septuagenarian, while talking to Ranveer Allahabadia, said 'Oats thoda sa. 10 almonds, raisins. Uska juice banakar peekar jaati hun. Ghar par, thoda sa chawal, dal, salad, dahi. Yeh khaati hun. Shaam ko ek hi moong chilla banati hun. Usme paneer daalti hun and 1-2 hari mirchi. Uske baad ek glass doodh. Yehi khaati hun. Aur kuch nahi khaati (I have oats with 10 almonds and raisins in a drink. At lunch, I have a little bit of rice, dal, salad, and curd. In the evenings, I have a single soaked moong chilla with paneer and 1-2 green chillies. I drink one glass of milk after that. This is what I eat. Apart from these, I don't eat anything else.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Roshni Devi Sangwan (@weightliftermummy) Why Roshni's diet works While extremely simple, Roshni's diet works on many counts. It is simple, homemade, protein rich, and most importantly, consistent. Here are some other reasons why a protein rich Indian vegetarian meal might work for many (though each individuals is different, and there is no "one size fits all" diet) Multiple nutritional benefits Roshni consumes enough daal and paneer in her diet. Lentils and beans, along with chickpeas, peas, soy, paneer and nuts form the diverse plant-based protein sources in our vegetarian "ghar ka khaana". These foods supply protein together with essential vitamins and minerals along with fiber content. The protein content of lentils and dals such as moong dal and masoor dal, makes them easy to digest, while also providing high nutritional value. The combination of rice with dal produces a complete protein that contains all necessary amino acids which the human body requires. The diverse selection of foods, allows for complete nutritional balance, while eliminating the necessity for animal-derived foods. Simple ingredients Most of us shy away from fad diets because of how impractical they are to follow, while living at home with others. However Roshni's diet is just the opposite. The process of preparing dal or chickpea curry, remains simple while requiring minimal cooking time. By making your own meals (like Roshni), you gain full control over ingredient selection, which allows you to stay away from preservatives, as well as reduce your use of excessive oil and salt. The cooking process at home helps maintain higher nutrient levels than both fast and processed foods. Supports muscle growth and repair Muscle building, together with tissue repair, requires protein as a fundamental component. Weight lifters like Roshni, will obtain substantial advantages from consuming vegetarian protein sources. Muscle protein needs are met through paneer, as well as tofu and various soy products. Beans together with lentils, provide sustained energy release, which keeps you upbeat all day, while supporting your healthy lifestyle. Promotes heart health and weight management A diet consisting of lots of daal, with vegetables and whole grains, brings naturally low levels of unhealthy fats and cholesterol. The foods in this diet help decrease dangerous cholesterol levels, which protects against heart disease. Beans and whole grains contain fiber which helps digestion, and maintains weight health because they keep you satisfied for longer periods. Homemade cooking allows you to determine the amount of oil and spices used in your meals which results in healthier and lighter dishes. With proper storage, your apples can stay fresh for weeks. What Are The Best Apple Varieties For Weight Loss? Just 3 minutes of calf raises can lower your blood sugar after a meal? Doctor shares the truth
Blood sugar rises after a meal. It is a concern for many people, and generally, walking is recommended to help bring it down. But not everyone has the liberty of time or space to go on an active walk after every meal. This is where simple movement, right at the desk, comes in handy. If you are sitting at desk for long time, make sure to keep yourself active with seated calf raises. (Shutterstock) ALSO READ: Doctor shares 7 health secrets that can help you manage blood sugar, improve sleep and support heart health Dr Kunal Sood, MD, anesthesiology (pain medicine), who often shares insights related to health and wellness on Instagram, on a July 12 post, shared how calf raises can help with blood sugar control after a meal. Seated calf raise helps to manage blood sugar He quoted one study from 2021, which delved into the benefits of seated calf raises or a soleus pushup in maintaining blood sugar. Dr Sood said, 'It's normal for blood sugar to rise after a meal, but even light movement can help bring it down. In one study, adults with obesity performed seated calf raises or a soleus pushup for 2.5 minutes every 5 minutes over a three-hour period. This simple repeated movement significantly lowered both blood glucose and insulin levels, compared to sitting still." Further describing how the calf movement has a connection to blood sugar, he added, 'The benefit comes from activating the soleus muscle, which is a deep calf muscle that uses glucose continuously even without intense movement or insulin spikes.' Here, as per Dr Sood, the soleus muscle gets activated when you move your calf, functioning for glucose-burning. This is useful for people who are at desk-bound jobs, indicating how even light movements can help counteract some of the negative effects of prolonged sitting, like post-meal blood sugar spikes. Not a replacement for exercise or diet This activity is a helpful add-on, not the go-to solution for all. Commonly, whenever something is found to be helpful, people wonder if it could replace other habits. But Dr Sood addressed this and reminded that regular exercise and a balanced diet are essential for long-term blood sugar control. He added, 'This is not a replacement for exercise or diet, but when done consistently, it (seated calf raise) could support better blood sugar control, especially during long periods of sitting.'
