Globe and Mail24-06-2025
Geneva, Switzerland, June 17, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) ("SEALSQ" or "Company"), a company that focuses on developing and selling Semiconductors, PKI, and Post-Quantum technology hardware and software products, today announced that its Board of Directors has formally approved a $10 million strategic investment in WISeSat.Space AG ('WISeSat'), joining its parent company WISeKey International Holding Ltd ('WISeKey', SIX: WIHN; Nasdaq: WKEY), to accelerate the planned deployment of a secure, quantum-ready satellite constellation.
The $10 million investment secures SEALSQ a 9% equity stake in WISeSat, based on a pre-money valuation of $115 million established through a valuation conducted by an independent expert.
This milestone financing will enable WISeSat to scale up its operations and accelerate the deployment of its planned satellite constellation, as well as provide the flexibility to evaluate opportunities for expanding its access to pre-existing satellite infrastructure through strategic partnerships and investments.
Additionally, WISeSat is finalizing preparations for the launch of WISeSat 3.0 during the last week of June 2025 from California. This post-quantum-ready next-generation satellite, enables quantum-secure communications from space, and has machine-to-machine transactions capabilities powered by SEALCOIN, a collaboration between WISeKey and The Hashgraph Association, using Hedera's decentralized ledger technology (DLT).
WISeSat is also planning to expand its satellite launch operations by partnering with companies such as PLD Space in Spain and SkyRoot Aerospace in India, broadening its global launch footprint and increasing flexibility and resilience for future missions.
This investment underscores SEALSQ's goal to building the world's first quantum-resilient satellite network, designed to deliver ultra-secure communications and transactional IoT (t-IoT) services globally. WISeSat's infrastructure enables SEALSQ to bring post-quantum Root of Trust and secure chips directly to IoT devices, even in the most remote locations. SEALSQ's investment not only accelerates technological advancement but also unlocks a transformational opportunity to secure trillions of IoT devices worldwide.
The global quantum communication market, valued at over $1 billion in 2024, is projected to grow at a CAGR of 31.8% from 2025 to 2030. 1 The increased demand for unbreakable security in finance, healthcare, and defense sectors fuels this momentum.
The June 2025 WISeSat 3.0 launch will also feature a Proof of Concept demonstrating SEALCOIN's capacity for autonomous, decentralized satellite-to-IoT device transactions, laying the foundation for a new Satellite-as-a-Service (SataaS) model. This model should generate recurring revenue via connectivity subscriptions, secure data monetization, and blockchain-based machine-to-machine (M2M) payments. This breakthrough lays the foundation for scalable commercial deployments across sectors such as smart cities, logistics, energy, and defense.
Quantum communication is the next frontier in cybersecurity, using the principles of quantum physics to secure information in a way that is physically impossible to intercept or decode without detection. With quantum computers expected to break traditional encryption within the next decade, organizations and governments are racing to adopt quantum-resilient infrastructure. Post-quantum security, especially via satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), ensures secure data exchange across global networks. By placing this technology in orbit, WISeSat enables real-time, tamper-proof key distribution and communications to any point on Earth, including remote or disconnected regions. This capability is critical to secure global transactions in finance, protect sensitive healthcare data, defend national infrastructure, and maintain the integrity of mission-critical systems.

Why Novo Nordisk Flew Almost 3% Higher on Friday

Key Points The company's leading product looked more attractive following price hikes by a competitor. Eli Lilly's Zepbound will become more expensive in the U.K. and likely throughout Europe subsequently. 10 stocks we like better than Novo Nordisk › An archrival's pricing move was seen as beneficial for Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO) on Friday. As investors disseminated news of a dramatic increase in the cost of a product competing with the company's star drug, Wegovy, they pushed the Danish pharmaceutical company's share price up. It closed the day almost 3% higher during a session when the S&P 500 index ended up slumping by 0.3%. A rival's hikes The previous day, U.S. healthcare giant Eli Lilly announced that it was raising the prices of Zepbound -- a GLP-1 obesity drug that directly competes with Wegovy -- in the U.K. In doing so, the company indicated that it will follow suit in other European markets. The move follows a Trump administration push to reduce drug prices in America (or, at least, effectively level them across the world). In late July, the president sent letters to the CEOs of top U.S. drug companies, stating that they had until Sept. 29 to reduce the costs of certain medications. Failure to do so, the president wrote somewhat vaguely, would see the federal government "deploy every tool in our arsenal to protect American families." Although Novo Nordisk also received one of these letters -- there were 17 in all -- the company hasn't given any concrete indication that it intends to make adjustments similar to Eli Lilly's. Customer rebellion brewing? For the moment, then, Novo Nordisk enjoys a bit of an advantage, as there is inevitably customer backlash (and often defection to rival products) when a company hikes prices. We've yet to see how Trump's initiative will fully play out, however. So, personally, I don't think any investor should base their Novo Nordisk stance on the Eli Lilly development. Should you invest $1,000 in Novo Nordisk right now? Before you buy stock in Novo Nordisk, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Novo Nordisk wasn't one of them. WEF clears founder Schwab of wrongdoing; appoints interim co-chairs

Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum attends the opening of the Annual Meeting of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Jan. 16, 2024. (AP Photo/Markus Schreiber, File) Aug 15 (Reuters) - The World Economic Forum closed an investigation on its founder Klaus Schwab on Friday, clearing him of any wrongdoing, and appointed BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and Roche Holding's vice-chair Andre Hoffmann as interim co-chairs of its board. The Geneva-based organization had launched an investigation in April into 87-year-old Schwab following a whistleblower letter alleging misconduct. The probe was announced a day after Schwab resigned as chairman. The forum at that time did not say why he was quitting. For decades, Schwab has been the face of the WEF's annual gathering of business and political leaders in the Swiss mountain resort of Davos, which has become a symbol of globalization. The WEF said on Friday that its board had completed an investigation into allegations raised by anonymous whistleblowers against Schwab and found there was no evidence of material wrongdoing by him. WEF also did not find any misconduct by Schwab's wife and former assistant, Hilde Schwab. 'Minor irregularities, stemming from blurred lines between personal contributions and forum operations, reflect deep commitment rather than intent of misconduct,' WEF said. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the probe in April, had said an anonymous letter raised concerns about the WEF's governance and workplace culture, including allegations that the Schwab family mixed their personal affairs with the forum's resources without proper oversight. In May, a spokesperson for Schwab informed Reuters that he had filed a criminal complaint against the whistleblowers. The Schwab family denied all the allegations in the whistleblower complaint to the Journal. Following the conclusion of the probe, a spokesman for Schwab told WSJ on Friday that he intends to drop his lawsuit and a separate legal action against anonymous whistleblowers. The WEF also said Peter Brabeck-Letmathe had stepped down as interim chairman following the investigation's conclusion. In a statement posted on the WEF website, newly appointed co-chairs Fink and Hoffman said they were honored to take on the leadership role on an interim basis and looked forward to reinventing and strengthening the organization. WEF's Davos gathering has in recent years drawn criticism from opponents on both left and right as an elitist talking shop detached from lives of ordinary people.
