Gogglebox's only Scottish couple Joe and Roisin 'axed' from show after three years
Gogglebox duo Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have been dropped from the Channel 4 programme following three years on the sofa, the beloved pair have announced in a heartfelt message.
The couple made Gogglebox history as the first Scottish duo to feature on the programme back in February 2022. Roisin, 26, and Joe, 28, have now disclosed that they were "not asked back" by Channel 4 for the upcoming series and have been "dumped" by the show after nearly four years.
Sharing the devastating news on TikTok, Roisin penned: "After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa channel 4 have decided it's time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. We couldn't be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights! It's been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don't actually need subtitles," reports the Mirror.
The Daily Record has contacted Channel 4 for a response.
Roisin continued by expressing gratitude to the programme's crew, revealing: "We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely."
Following her appreciation to their supporters, she concluded: "It for sure has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Time to watch tv in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already, Roisin and Joe x x x."
Alongside the announcement, Roisin also posted a collection of memes they had created - including one featuring a screenshot from Toy Story where Channel 4 is portrayed as villain Sid and the pair are represented by Woody being cast aside. "I don't want to play with you anymore," Sid is depicted saying.
Another image displayed a weeping child with the text: "Being dumped from gogglebox."
Yet the following picture featured Captain America's Anthony Mackie in celebration mode with the message: "No longer having to adhere to a contract and can work with brands and companies."
Supporters immediately inundated the comments section with messages of encouragement, with one posting: "Loved you and Joe on Gogglebox. Won't be the same without you."
Another declared: "NOOOOOOOOOO I JUST FELL TO THE FLOOR IN ASDA."
A third commented: "That's a real shame," whilst a fourth remarked: "Awww no! I will miss you guys flying the flag for Scotland."
Gogglebox airs every Friday on Channel 4, from 9pm and can be streamed via MY4.

TWO Russian TikTokers were forced to issue a grovelling apology after filming in front of a flaming Russian plant following a Ukrainian strike. The video was posted to a track called Crimson Dawn by singer Endshpil, a Russian rapper. Both influencers were immediately arrested. Then they were forced to record an apology saying: 'We sincerely apologise for filming the video against the backdrop of a fire and posting it on a social network. 'We did not post the video with the intention of insulting or offending anyone. 'We pledge not to make such mistakes again. We are ready to be punished under Russian law.' A police "wanted" notice was issued after the initial TikTok video made rounds on the internet. It said: "During Internet monitoring, a publication was found showing two girls filming a video against the backdrop of a fire in Sochi. Oil depot EXPLODES as Ukraine launches major strike on Russian city of Sochi "The police have initiated an investigation, measures are being taken to identify the girls, and their actions will be legally assessed." Later it was confirmed that the duo had been detained, and there were calls from pro-war outlets for them to issue a public apology over the stunt close to Sochi airport. Both of them were fined £280 for filming near the burning site. Moscow takes an increasingly aggressive, extreme stance against social media stunts seen as highlighting Ukraine's successes in the war. A Ukrainian outlet Pravda Gerashchenko mocked: 'Russian zoomers are happy about the burning oil depot in [Sochi] - a new location for selfies. 'Ukrainian defence forces will definitely try to create as many such locations as possible.' Ukraine's general staff on Monday confirmed it had carried out a drone attack on a fuel depot of Sochi airport in southern Russia on Sunday.
