Watch as Mason Melia shows Premier League class with 11th goal of season

Mason Melia just can't stop scoring - and just as impressive as the 17-year-old St Patrick's tally so far this season is the variety of goals he is getting. His latest, the 11th of an outstanding campaign for the young striker, was a classy finish just before half-time in St Patrick's Athletic's FAI Cup clash against Shelbourne, and it was an opportunity he had no right to be on the end of. Melia had been fouled by Shelbourne defender Sean Gannon in the build-up to the goal, as Joseph Anang found winger Simon Power on the left. However, the Ireland Under-21 international bounced straight back up and continued his run towards the area, and was picked out by perfectly by Power. Melia still had plenty of work to do, but he made it look simple as his first touch took the ball between Shels midfielders Mark Coyle and JJ Lunney, and his second was a sublime finish. As defender Lewis Temple attempted to close him down, Melia opened up his body and slotted the ball inside the right-hand upright. Melia is heading to Tottenham next January, after his 18th birthday, in a League of Ireland record-breaking move initially worth €1.9million to the Saints, and rising to as much as €4.2million with add-ons. Pat's also have a 20 percent sell-on clause in the deal, which could net them millions more. He now has 11 goals so far for the season, including nine in the Premier Division and one in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. Sunday's strike was his fourth in his last three appearances for Pat's, with goals coming in their recent wins over Waterford and Sligo Rovers (two). Matt Healy dreams of ECL group stage and Ireland's call as Hoops turn to FAI Cup

Matt Healy came home to experience the big European group stage nights that Shamrock Rovers revelled in last season. The in-form midfielder has his eyes on the prize after last Thursday's emphatic ECL third round second leg victory over Vikingur in Tallaght. And Healy believes that if Rovers can stay in the play-off first leg against Portuguese outfit Santa Clara - who finished fifth in the Primeira Liga last term -then Hoops can finish off the job again at home. "All eyes on next week," he said. "It'll be a difficult game in Portugal. They'll be a decent side as well, but hopefully we can get a result and bring it back to Tallaght, like Thursday night, and put on another performance. "I've only been here six months, but over the last few years, it's a very difficult place to come. So if we can bring a result back to Tallaght, it'll be very difficult for them." "It's good to get compliments like that," said Healy, who insisted he hadn't seen the praise. "I suppose it's a good thing, but we'll see at the end of the day, I'd rather win the league and the cup and go far in Europe. It's the main thing, really, and if I'm playing well, that's a bonus." Josh Honahan earned a senior Ireland call-up this summer on the back of his performances for Rovers in Europe and, with Heimir Hallgrimsson watching on last Thursday, Healy could now also be on the international manager's mind. "Yeah, listen, everybody wants to play for their country," said the 22-year-old. "I'm just trying to play as well as possible and just focus in on every game that goes by. I don't know if I'm in the window or questioned to be picked or not, but we'll see over the next few months." Aaron McEneff (Image: ©INPHO/Ryan Byrne) Rovers are in action in the third round of the Sports Direct FAI Cup against Longford Town today, and the Premier Division table-toppers are expected to be much-changed for the tie against the midlanders, who are eighth in the First Division. Bradley, however, insists that his players can't take be taken lightly. 'No team in this country can be," said the Hoops supremo. "One of our aims is to win the FAI Cup. If we want to do that, we need to make sure we get past Longford. "Our mentality, like every other team, will be to respect them, then impose ourselves on the game, try and win it and make sure we're in the next round.' Aaron McEneff is close to a return for Rovers - if he doesn't make it for the Cup game, he will be available for the trip to Portugal - but Max Kovalevskis had knee surgery during the week that will sideline him for three or four weeks. "We're hoping to get him back quickly, as he was flying when he came in," Bradley commented. "We know what we have with Max. It's a frustrating time for him, but that's football and Max will be better for it.'
