Bartholomew Kuma's flashback is one of the most anticipated moments in One Piece 's Egghead Arc, known for its emotional depth and tragic storytelling. If you're wondering when this pivotal arc will hit the anime, here's everything you need to know. Kuma's Flashback Release Date in the One Piece Anime
According to reports, the One Piece anime will begin airing Bartholomew Kuma's flashback in May 2025. Specifically, the flashback is set to start with Episode 1129, scheduled for May 18, 2025, as confirmed by Toei Animation and posts on X. This marks a significant moment in the Egghead Arc, diving into Kuma's heartbreaking backstory, his ties to the Revolutionary Army, and his relationship with Jewelry Bonney. What to Expect from Kuma's Flashback
Kuma's flashback, spanning multiple chapters in the manga (1095–1102), is considered one of One Piece 's most tragic and well-crafted arcs. It covers:
Kuma's Origins: His birth in the Sorbet Kingdom as a Buccaneer, a near-extinct race persecuted by the World Government.
Tragic Enslavement: His family's capture and enslavement by the Celestial Dragons, including the loss of his parents.
God Valley Incident: Kuma's escape during the chaotic tournament, alongside Emporio Ivankov and Ginny, where he acquires the Paw-Paw Fruit.
Revolutionary Army and Bonney: His journey with the Revolutionary Army, his adoption of Bonney, and his sacrifices to save her life.
Ultimate Sacrifice: His transformation into a Pacifista, losing his free will to protect Bonney, as dictated by Saint Saturn. How Long Will the Flashback Last?
In the manga, Kuma's flashback spans 8 chapters (1095–1102). Given the anime's pacing, it's estimated to cover 8–10 episodes, potentially running from May to July 2025. Exact episode counts depend on Toei Animation's adaptation choices.

Netflix's ‘One Piece' Crew Rallies Around Charithra Chandran After Racist Backlash

With One Piece season two sailing onto Netflix next year, the latest teaser surprised fans with exciting looks at what's to come for the Straw Hats. In their journey to the Grand Line, they're set to encounter more friends and foes. One of the new faces in the cast is Charithra Chandran as Nefertari Vivi, also known in the long-running manga and anime as Miss Wednesday. The character in the comics is depicted as a light-skinned Egyptian woman, and a loud minority of racist One Piece nerds are criticizing Chandran's casting because the actor has darker skin. Because of course, they are mad at that being a plausible thing in a universe where a man can stretch his skin or a talking reindeer can be a medical professional. In response actress Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, shared on her Instagram stories, 'Perceived 'canon' does not excuse blatant racism or hate of any kind. I am beyond proud of our show, our cast, and the opportunity we have to bring to life a story centered around a diverse found family—by an equally diverse found family.' Rudd also shared a lengthy post from co-star Rob Colletti (who will debut as Wapol in season two): As Colletti points out, 'Charithra was hand-selected by [One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda], and he has far more knowledge and understanding of his own characters than anyone else, particularly the hateful, unimaginative creeps who actually have the audacity to get on the internet to throw hate speech towards an actor without even seeing their absolutely amazing performance on the show.'
