‘ICJS 2.0' aids in improving policing with technology
Handing over technical equipment to implement the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) 2.0 project in the district here on Thursday, the SP said that the project is designed to share data and information, coordinating with various wings of the criminal justice system, including police, courts, jails, forensic science labs and prosecution.
Further, Tuhin Sinha stated that the investigation of cases will be expedited by utilising technology and improving the quality of duty performed by the police.
As part of the project, the Inspector General of Police, technical services, Andhra Pradesh allotted 136 all-in-one desktops, 34 web cameras and 39 MF printers to be distributed to 34 police stations across the Anakapalli district.
The Andhra Pradesh government is focusing on strengthening the police system and as part of the exercise, it extends support to the department through technology intervention.
Additional SP M Deva Prasad, Inspectors Venkata Narayana, Vijay Kumar, Ashok Kumar and other officers participated in the programme.

BJP's own people not getting justice in U.P.: Akhilesh Yadav
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday (July 25, 2025) hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government saying that the 'own people and workers' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were 'not getting justice' in the State. His comment was directed at a viral video in which BJP leader and former MP Anil Shukla Warsi could be seen protesting at a police station in Kanpur after five BJP supporters were booked in a case under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act. 'No one is heard in the BJP government. Their own people are not getting justice, even the Deputy CM was being scolded. In 10 years, we have come to know that the BJP is not suitable for secularism, democracy, socialism, electricity, and the future of children,' said Mr. Yadav. In the video, Mr. Shukla, whose wife Pratibha is a junior Minister in the State government, is seen confronting Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak over the phone and accusing him of 'failing to provide any security to the Brahmin community'. 'Either I should leave politics or hang myself... You were made Deputy CM to protect and provide security to Brahmins, and here Brahmins are being abused, and fake cases are being registered. This cannot continue,' Mr. Shukla is heard saying in the video. Ms. Pratibha and her husband protested for six hours outside the police station in Kanpur Dehat on July 24, demanding suspension of the local station in-charge and an inspector for allegedly filing a 'fake case'. The two accused the inspector of 'misusing' legal provisions and working under political pressure. Top district officials reached the spot and diffused the tension by promising an inquiry against the inspector. They also removed the station in-charge. Earlier, the police had registered an FIR on a complaint by a man named Baburam Gautam who had accused Abrar, Yusuf, Aslam, Yasir and Shiva Pandey of using 'casteist slurs' and issuing threats over a land dispute. All five are said to be known to Ms. Pratibha and her husband.

Crime prevention is top priority, says Kurnool SP
The Kurnool police have stepped up measures for protection of women and children by focusing on renewed cybercrime awareness initiatives. Speaking at an awareness campaign at Pullareddy Engineering College auditorium here on Friday, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said that crime prevention was the top priority of the police department. 'We have launched many strengthened measures for the protection of women and children to sensitise them against crimes, particularly in the digital age with an alarming rise in the misuse of technology,' he said. The SP informed the students about the State government's initiatives, such as the Shakti App, Shakti WhatsApp services, and dedicated Shakti Teams, urging them to save key emergency numbers — Shakti WhatsApp 7993485111, Kurnool Shakti WhatsApp 7777877700, Dial 100, Dial 112, Child Helpline 1098, and Cybercrime 1930. All the police stations across the district were instructed to arrange at least one awareness programme daily in schools and colleges. 'The students were told to report eve-teasing or harassment immediately,' the SP said. Deputy SP (Mahila Police wing) J. Babu Prasad said that even educated women are falling victim to online fraud. The students were advised to use social media platforms only for educational and career purposes.

Jharkhand liquor scam: After arrest of businessman, Opp demands cancellation of ambulance tender process
The Opposition parties in Maharashtra have demanded the cancellation of a multi-thousand crore ambulance tender process after the arrest of Amit Salunkhe — one of the contractors in the project — by Jharkhand police in the Jharkhand liquor scam. 'The director of Sumeet Facilities has been arrested by Jharkhand police. We have been alleging for over a year that he is a part of over Rs 6,000-crore ambulance scam in the state. We raised the issue multiple times but the government neglected it. We will surely bring out more evidence, but as of now, it is important that the tender is stayed,' said NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday accused the Maharashtra government of committing an 'ambulance scam' of Rs 800 crore, and claimed the money involved was diverted to a foundation run by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, a charge rejected by the ruling party. Raut said a tender was floated by the state government for procurement of ambulances and its contract was awarded to a firm run by a close aide of Shrikant Shinde, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. 'The probe will bring out how much money has gone to a certain foundation for the election. It is clear that the present Maharashtra government needs clean up,' said Raut. Earlier this week, Salunkhe was arrested by Jharkhand police in an alleged Jharkhand liquor scam. Salunkhe is an 11th arrest in this case and he is said to be close to Chhattisgarh businessman Siddharth Singhania, who is already under arrest. In Maharashtra, Sumeet Facilities was given a tender to run ambulances (108 helpline) for the next 10 years along with BVG group. The tender was issued in the previous state government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Public Health minister was Tanaji Sawant. The Opposition had then alleged that the tender was issued at triple rates and extended undue benefits to the contractors. However, state Industries Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant rejected the allegations levelled by Raut. 'The charges have no basis. Shrikant Shinde has proved his worth as a part of the (Operation Sindoor) delegation (to countries which was led by several MPs including Shrikant Shinde). Maharashtra's people will not attach any value to such allegations,' the minister said.
