Andrew Cuomo scrambles ‘bacon, cheese and egg' order in awk breakfast Q&A, baffling NYers: ‘Should be a disqualifying offense'

It's an unforgivable schmear. Mayoral frontrunner Andrew Cuomo had egg on his face after he scrambled the name of New York City's iconic bacon, egg and cheese sandwich during a head-scratching Q&A. The former governor made a hash of his answer to a question about his go-to breakfast order and even confessed that he prefers English muffins over bagels – a revelation that had New Yorkers hotter than a bodega grill. 'Bacon, cheese and egg on an English muffin, and then I try to take off the bacon, but I don't really take off the bacon,' Cuomo told the New York Times in an interview Tuesday, bungling the order of ingredients of the Big Apple breakfast bulwark. 'The bagel I try to stay away from, to keep my girlish figure.' 3 Andrew Cuomo baffled New Yorkers by mangling the iconic bacon, egg and cheese's name. Andrew Schwartz / Self-respecting New Yorkers — who know the order is always bacon first, egg second and cheese third — mocked Cuomo for his remix, tearing his choice of bread a whole new set of nooks and crannies. Manhattanite Juan Concepción, 34, couldn't bialy-lieve Cuomo's response as the candidate seemed to be groping for an answer. 'It was a muffin, then he says it's a bagel. Then he took off the bacon, so it's an egg and cheese muffin,' he said. 'At least he's trying to be healthy.' When read the order, employees at Jimbo's Hamburger Place laughed out loud. 'It seems funny,' said Kemo, 50, an employee at the burger joint along First Avenue near Cuomo's pad. 3 This is a bacon, egg and cheese. Brent Hofacker – 3 This is not. chas53 – Cuomo's comments didn't go over-easy on social media, either. City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens) gave it a ruthless review that questioned Cuomo's New York bona fides. 'Honestly, calling it a 'bacon, cheese and egg' instead of a bacon egg and cheese should be a disqualifying offense,' she posted on X. 'A truly insane thing to say in NYC,' another X user posted. Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani, who's polling second behind Cuomo in the Democratic Party primary for mayor, pounced on the breakfast order during an unrelated press conference on Tuesday. 'It confirms so much of what we feared about Andrew Cuomo, not just that he doesn't know how to order a bacon, egg and cheese, but also the fact that this is a man who New York City has been something he's understood more through his television screen than actually by walking the streets, and we've seen that over the course of this campaign, he seems to be afraid of the city,' Mamdani said. 'He spends his time between his car and his $8,000 a month apartment in Midtown, and we don't ever know when we're going to see him, other than when it's legally required of him to be present.' The man Cuomo is running to replace — Mayor Eric Adams — has also been toasted by critics over some eccentric breakfast preferences. Adams told the Jewish publication Forward that he no longer eats bagels because of his diabetes — and has replaced them with something akin to rabbit food. 'I loved a good cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, and now I make my own bread with flaxseed and vegan cheese,' he said. Adams, who claims to be vegan, has been semi-regularly posting his breakfast smoothie concoctions, such as one with blueberries, romaine lettuce, avocado, cacao powder and green tea — a combination that prompted one X user to respond: 'Dude what the f–k.' Besides the breakfast brouhaha, Cuomo's interview with the Gray Lady provided ample fodder for his opponents' accusations that he's an out-of-touch carpetbagger. The Queens native acknowledged that he hadn't lived in the city since he was '32-ish,' which would be in roughly 1990. Cuomo signed the lease on his East 54th Street apartment in December 2023 and started living in it full-time during fall 2024, his reps have said. Cuomo's campaign didn't respond to The Post's request that he explain his breakfast order.

Man United and Everton Considering Move to Sign £40m Former Premier League Striker

Mitrovic Move Back to England? Premier League Clubs Circle Al Hilal Ready to Offload Proven Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, once a bruising force in the Premier League, could be set for a dramatic return to English football. As reported by talkSPORT, Al Hilal are willing to sell or loan the Serbia international this summer, with Premier League sides West Ham and Everton keeping close tabs. Advertisement After scoring 68 goals in 79 games since his £50 million move from Fulham in 2023, Mitrovic's impact in Saudi Arabia is undeniable. But with Al Hilal shifting focus towards marquee signings ahead of the Club World Cup, the striker may become a casualty of foreign player quota limits. 'A return back to the Premier League for Mitrovic is possible with West Ham and Everton both monitoring the situation,' talkSPORT reports. Photo IMAGO United and Milan Monitoring Situation Manchester United's interest has resurfaced following their failed attempt to sign Liam Delap, who looks set to join Chelsea for £30 million. As per talkSPORT, 'Manchester United are also considering a move after missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea.' Advertisement While Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres remains United's top target, his stance is unclear with the Red Devils missing out on European football. Financial constraints also play a role. United must sell before buying, making Mitrovic, reportedly available for £40 million and willing to accept a pay cut, a pragmatic alternative. Meanwhile, AC Milan have also enquired about the 30-year-old forward. 'AC Milan are the latest club to make an enquiry for the 30-year-old,' the article states. The Rossoneri's search for a traditional No. 9 could gather pace under their latest tactical evolution. Saudi Market Evolution Underway Mitrovic's uncertain future is part of a broader movement within the Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal, who are courting Napoli's Victor Osimhen and continue to be linked, however loosely, with Cristiano Ronaldo for a Club World Cup loan, are working hard to refine their foreign contingent. Advertisement Mitrovic's representatives will meet Al Hilal officials this week to discuss options, while central Saudi dealmakers aim to prove that exits can be as strategic as big-name arrivals. 'Saudi officials don't view these exits as players jumping ship,' talkSPORT notes. 'They plan for periodic squad refreshes and believe several names purchased have either protected their value or increased it.' The departure of Gabri Veiga to Porto is one such example of this shift in tone and structure. Source: IMAGO Premier League Clubs Face a Test of Ambition Despite no formal bids yet, Al Hilal are prepared to engage with interested parties once a replacement is secured. Mitrovic may not be everyone's ideal marquee name, but he remains a proven scorer, Premier League-hardened, and seemingly eager for another challenge in England. Advertisement For Everton, the appeal is obvious: firepower at a fair price. For United, it's about depth, goals, and presence — particularly if the summer market proves unforgiving. Whether either club is brave enough to move quickly remains to be seen. Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Manchester United fans, the idea of signing Mitrovic brings mixed emotions. On the one hand, he's not the glamorous solution many fans dream of. But on the other, he might be exactly what United need right now — a physical, aggressive striker who knows the league and scores goals. He's no Viktor Gyokeres, but Gyokeres likely won't come without Champions League football. At £40 million, Mitrovic could provide United with reliable short-term output, especially if Højlund continues to blow hot and cold. A pay cut adds further credibility to the move. Advertisement For Everton, this is a chance they must seize. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin's inconsistency and injury concerns, Mitrovic would bring muscle, experience and a genuine scoring threat, all at a fee far more modest than many names floating in today's market. Ultimately, the Mitrovic move should be about fit, not flash. He suits Everton's needs perfectly. For United, if the money doesn't stretch to Gyokeres or a bigger name, then this may be the shrewd and sensible call.
