Jyoti Malhotra-Puri YouTuber link under scanner
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police have started an investigation into the alleged links between a Puri-based YouTuber and Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested on the charge of passing on sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives, an officer said on Sunday.
The police found that Jyoti, who runs a YouTube channel, Travel with JO, and hails from Hisar in Haryana, had visited Puri in September 2024 and came in contact with a woman in the coastal town of Puri, Priyanka Senapati, who is also a YouTuber.
Jyoti, whose YouTube channel and Instagram accounts have 3.77 lakh subscribers and 1.33 lakh followers respectively, allegedly was in contact with a Pakistani staffer working at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. On May 13, India had expelled that Pakistani official for allegedly indulging in espionage.
The woman in Puri had also travelled to Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan recently, Puri SP Vinit Agrawal said. 'We found that Jyoti Malhotra had visited Puri last year, and we are verifying the fact. Anything more can be shared after the verification,' Agrawal said.
Asked whether the woman from Puri had shared intelligence inputs with Jyoti, Agrawal said, 'The Haryana Police are investigating the matter and we are providing them the required assistance.' The police are also 'examining the objective' of Jyoti's visit to Puri, and trying to find out 'where she stayed, whom she contacted and any possible suspicious activities', the Puri SP said.
'We are in touch with various Central agencies and Haryana Police. We will share details with the media after field verification,' he said while responding to queries from reporters.
The Puri YouTuber's father said the police had quizzed her daughter on Saturday and sought some information. A team of police personnel visited the woman's residence in Puri for an investigation into the matter.
'My daughter came in contact with Jyoti Malhotra as both are YouTubers. As a friendship developed between them, Jyoti visited Puri. As it is a matter of nation's security, a proper investigation should be carried out. We will cooperate with the police,' he said. 'My daughter visited Kartarpur in Pakistan with another friend, not Jyoti, three or four months ago for a pilgrimage. My daughter has no involvement in anti-national activities and was unaware of Jyoti's alleged espionage,' the Puri YouTuber's father said.

Ludhiana: Goraya man alleges police inaction in assault case
A resident of Goraya has accused a Ludhiana-based man, recently engaged to a famed cricketer's sister, of assaulting him and circulating a video of the incident on social media. The complainant, Satinder Singh alias Satti Goraya, alleged that despite filing a police complaint nearly two months ago, the Ludhiana police have failed to take any action. According to Goraya, the incident took place at a restaurant in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, where he was dining with a friend. He claimed that the accused, accompanied by his aides, arrived at the restaurant and assaulted him. During the altercation, they allegedly recorded a video of the assault, which later surfaced on social media platforms. Goraya further stated that the same accused assaulted him again a few days later in Goraya. 'I filed a complaint with the Sarabha Nagar police station immediately after the incidents, but there has been no action taken so far,' he said. When contacted, Inspector Madhu Bala, station house officer (SHO) at the Sarabha Nagar police station, confirmed that a complaint had been received and added that an inquiry into the matter is currently underway.

Haryana: Chargesheet filed against Goldy Brar, 4 others in Gurugram grenade attacks case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges in court against Canada-based gangster-terrorist Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar and four others for orchestrating grenade attacks on two Gurugram clubs in December, the agency announced on Saturday. The December 10, 2024 attacks targeted Warehouse Club and Human Club in Sector 29, with investigators linking the violence to a broader conspiracy by the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) to spread communal disharmony across Haryana. The chargesheet names Sachin Taliyan, Ankit, Bhawish and US-based Randeep Singh alongside Brar. All accused except Brar and Randeep Singh have been arrested. The NIA investigations revealed that Brar, a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, masterminded the conspiracy from his base in Brampton, Canada. The agency said the terror syndicate actively extorts money, raises funds, procures explosives and weapons, and intimidates civilians to threaten national security. Brar, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, faces multiple terror cases. The NIA has already charge-sheeted him for the December 2023 murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, president of the Hindu right-wing Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur. He is also wanted for orchestrating the May 29, 2022 assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Brar was designated a terrorist under UAPA in January 2024. From Canada, Brar allegedly supervises Bishnoi gang operations whilst assisting pro-Khalistan outfits including BKI in weapons smuggling, drug trafficking and targeted killings, the agency stated. How Ggm blasts are linked to Chandigarh A web of inter-state criminal links has emerged in the investigation into the Gurugram bar blasts, with UT police uncovering key connections to Chandigarh and Haryana's Hisar district. Two accused, Ajit and Vinay, played a direct role in the attacks carried out at two popular Sector 26 bars, acting on the instructions of gangster Randeep Malik. Ajit and Vinay, both Hisar natives, had allegedly delivered a bomb to a person for the Gurugram blasts and were arrested by Chandigarh police after a brief encounter in Hisar on November 29 last year. The duo was involved in hurling bombs at Seville Bar Lounge—owned by rapper Badshah—and De'Orra Dance Bar in Sector 26, Chandigarh, between 3:15am and 3:30am on November 26. Investigations revealed that gangster Randeep Malik, a Jind native now based in the USA, orchestrated the blasts. Malik directed the accused to collect explosives in Karnal and a pistol from Sahil, a murder accused lodged in Jind jail. The handover took place near Rohtak. According to Chandigarh police, Malik, previously booked in 2011 for assault and intimidation, recruits youth from Hisar and Bhiwani into crime. He advised the accused to turn off their phones and escape to Hisar and then Rajasthan after the blasts in Chandigarh. Malik coordinated the attack with gangster Goldy Brar, whose approval allegedly preceded the blasts, the cops said.

New CCTV footage emerges of Indore honeymooners in Meghalaya, CM seeks CBI probe
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the murder of an Indore-based newly-wed man Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, saying that 'every possible effort' was made to trace his missing wife Sonam. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav wrote in his X account: 'In this hour of crisis, Madhya Pradesh stands with Mrs. Sonam Raghuvanshi and her family. I have discussed this matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Senior police officers from Madhya Pradesh are in constant contact with Meghalaya officials. I have requested the Honorable Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah ji, to order a CBI investigation in this case. Every possible effort is being made for the safe return of Mrs. Sonam Raghuvanshi.' The mystery of what happened to the newlywed couple Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi from Madhya Pradesh's Indore who had travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20 — nine days after their wedding — continues to confound investigators. The couple had checked out of the Shillong hotel on May 23 and travelled to an area near Cherrapunji. They last talked to their family that afternoon. Raja's body was found with wounds inflicted by a Dao (machete) while Sonam has yet to be found. A Special Investigation Team was formed to look into the incident, although police have yet to make any arrests. The search operation for Sonam has also run into difficulties posed by tough terrain, dense forests and unrelenting rains, which have resulted in the rescue teams managing to work for a few hours before calling it a day. A new CCTV footage released Saturday shows Raja and Sonam arriving at a homestay in Shillong on a scooter to drop off their luggage before riding off again. The video, which is four minutes long, shows Raja and Sonam arriving at the homestay with a white suitcase and wearing black jackets. The video shows the couple interacting with each other before Raja goes inside to talk to the staff at the registration desk. Sonam is seen taking off her jacket and fixing her hair. Moments later, Raja comes out, takes a few things out of the suitcase, and hands them over to Sonam. The white shirt Sonam is seen wearing in the CCTV footage was later found near Raja's body. Meanwhile, as Sonam's brother Gaurav waits anxiously for news of his sister, he says he's 'relieved' at the MP government decision to seek a CBI probe. Gaurav has been in Shillong for the last few days as the police continue to look for his sister. 'I have been with the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for days now and there is no headway in the case. Even the new CCTV footage we had traced and leaked to the media. The police are not able to crack the case,' Gaurav told The Indian Express. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem did not respond to calls or messages.
