Netflix Viewers Warning Each Other About "Disturbing" Series

Screen Geek6 hours ago
Netflix tends to have a diverse content library with a little something for everyone. However, some Netflix viewers seem to be thrown off by one sci-fi series offered by the streamer. While the series has received praise from some viewers, others aren't sure what to make of the story, even going so far as to call the content 'disturbing.'
The series, which comes from David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, is the third streaming adaptation of a popular Chinese novel series. This particular variation, from the showrunners behind the HBO series Game of Thrones , marked their first new television series since that iconic fantasy show came to an end. And while fans are still waiting for the second and third seasons to come out, some tweets have resurfaced bringing attention back to their science-fiction endeavor.
The first season of the sci-fi series was released via Netflix in 2024. Just two months after its release, it was renewed for an additional two seasons, which have yet to be released at the time of this writing. Hopefully, however, fans will find just as much to enjoy as they did the first season – even if the subject matter is disturbing for some viewers.
Here are some of the reactions to the series which gained traction on the social media platform X:
3 Body Problem on Netflix was a fun and disturbing watch. I might have to jump into the books to know how this all ends.

The sequence where they slice and dice the entire ship in 3 Body Problem is absolutely brutal.
Also, Eiza Gonzalez is an absolute smoke show. pic.twitter.com/5lzmhKf6Tn

Many days I just go back to the 3 Body Problem TV show's ending and rewatch it. Inspirational and banging music by Ramin Djawadi.
Bugs.

A year late getting into 3 Body Problem, but we're here. Moral sci-fi conundrums aplenty, will be spiraling soon.
— Cul-de-sac Black (@itsKingRaa) August 20, 2025
3 Body Problem makes me feel like a genius and an idiot at the same time
— Vitty_vibes (@vittyviibes) July 31, 2025
The series, titled 3 Body Problem , is based on the Chinese novel series Remembrance of Earth's Past by Liu Cixin. The first volume of this novel series was titled The Three-Body Problem and itself was named after a classical physics problem which revolved around Newton's laws of motion and gravitation. This unique concept is felt throughout the series which revolves around an astrophysicist named Dr. Ye Wenjie played by Rosalind Chao and Zine Tseng.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the series 3 Body Problem and any other trending Netflix streaming titles as we have them. For now, subscribers can check out 3 Body Problem ahead of the eventual release dates of its second and third seasons.

I completely missed this critically-acclaimed horror-comedy movie being added to Prime Video – here's why you shouldn't make the same mistake

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Prime Video added 56 new movies this month, meaning it's the best streaming service if you want to check out some great new movies in August. Among these new additions is a title I very nearly missed, and it's a great horror comedy. The Return of the Living Dead joined Prime Video this month and if you haven't seen it, it's well worth your time. With a 76% Rotten Tomatoes critical score, it was a seriously impressive debut for director Dan O'Bannon in 1985 and now you can watch it in the comfort of your home. It's the first in a series of five movies but unfortunately the follow-ups weren't good at all, with the second one receiving only 5% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics, so this is the only one worth checking out in my opinion. Why you should watch The Return of the Living Dead If you're a zombie fan, there's plenty to enjoy here as The Return of the Living Dead has done a lot of for the genre. In fact, it's known for introducing a lot of tropes that have been used in subsequent zombie movies. Examples include zombies eating specifically brains, not just humans in general, as well as zombies being invulnerable to a gunshot to the head, both of which you have definitely seen before in some of the best horror movies. It's low budget and shows but that's all part of the charm to me, as The Return of the Living Dead has everything I love about 80s horror movies in particular; the fashion, the rock music, the monsters that look fake for modern audiences but were groundbreaking at the time – there's so much to enjoy. The Return of the Living Dead definitely embodies all of these things as we follow a warehouse owner who is accompanied by his two employees, a mortician friend and a group of teenage punks, as they deal with the accidental release of unkillable, brain-hungry zombies. The plot is both ridiculous and terrifying: it follows Freddy, a new worker who accidentally unleashes a toxic gas, which creates rainfall that reanimates corpses in the nearby cemetery. It's gory, silly and great to watch with a crowd, even to this day it's a great time and even superior to some modern day zombie movies. Even if you're not usually a fan of zombies, I'd recommend trying this because its influence on the horror genre can't be ignored and there's a reason it's become a cult classic with a very healthy critical consensus. The Return of the Living Dead is available to stream on Prime Video and Hoopla, one of the best free streaming services, in the US. If you are in the UK or Australia, the movie is available via the MGM+ add-on channel, but not the base Prime Video package. You might also like Prime Video just added this critically panned horror movie – but I think you should ignore its 49% Rotten Tomatoes rating and watch it right now The most heartbreaking horror movie of 2025 already has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score, and Good Boy is why you need to get a Shudder streaming subscription Alien: Earth is the sci-fi horror franchise's first TV show, so why has it taken nearly 50 years to make one? The Hulu series' creators have their say Play Farm Merge Valley

3 great Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (August 22-24)

If you've ever scrolled through Netflix for more than five minutes, you might be one of many people who suffer from a particular kind of decision paralysis when it comes to the streaming service. While Netflix has plenty of stuff to watch, the challenge can come when you have to choose one thing in particular. We've done that part for you and pulled together three great Netflix movies that are worth checking out now. These movies come from wildly different genres, but each one of them will leave you satisfied, assuming you're in the right mood to engage with them. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video. Daughters (2024) One of the most moving documentaries of the past five years, Daughters tells the story of a group of young daughters who work to form bonds with their incarcerated fathers in anticipation of a daddy-daughter dance. A tender, open-hearted movie that never judges its subjects, Daughters will leave you deeply emotional. Witness these young girls rise to the occasion far beyond their years to display pride for themselves and for the fathers who wish they could be more present in their lives. You can watch Daughters on Netflix. Apollo 13 (1995) One of the best movies crafted about space, Apollo 13 tells the harrowing true story of the astronauts who faced technical problems with their shuttle 1,000 miles off the Earth's surface. As they use creative problem-solving skills to survive, those on the ground navigate every challenge they face and try to make sure they can stay warm enough and sane enough to follow instructions. Anchored by Tom Hanks at the peak of his powers, Apollo 13 is also one of Ron Howard's finest achievements as a director. You can watch Apollo 13 on Netflix. The Departed (2006) The movie that finally earned Martin Scorsese his Oscar, The Departed is actually an adaptation of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs. The sprawling story follows a cop who is undercover inside the Boston mob and a mole from the mob who is buried inside the police department. As the two investigate each other, they get lost in their work while chasing after the same woman. Featuring terrific performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson, The Departed goes hard, and that's part of why it's become so beloved. You can watch The Departed on Netflix.
