Meghan Markle's 'garden haul' of vegetables causes suspicion amongst fans who say they look store-bought
Meghan Markle's innocent-looking wholesome picture showing her 'garden haul' of fresh vegetables has left royal fans saying they look far too clean and some would not be available at this time of year. The duchess, 43, posted the image that featured the family's beagle Mia as she sniffed the basket of fresh produce seemingly freshly picked from the Sussexes Montecito mansion in California. Meghan's caption said of Mia: 'The unofficial quality inspector of this morning's garden haul.' Mia buried her face in the 'haul' comprising of broccoli, carrots, corn, red peppers, and squash as well as spring onions, and an assortment of fresh herbs. However, eagle-eyed social media users immediately claimed there was something suspicious about the packed basket, such as a lack of any mud on them. One person wrote: 'And everything is perfectly clean. She is also the only person outside of the U.S. Cornbelt to harvest corn in MAY?' Another said: 'Huh. She's so good at gardening she can grow all things from all seasons at once'. Taking note of the squeaky-clean vegetables, another critic noted there wasn't even a 'speck of dirt' on any of the food, despite appearing to be freshly picked. A comment read: 'I've never seen vegetables so clean after harvesting.' Others noted that in California, it could be too early to harvest several crops. Some even speculated that Meghan could have gone to a local store or farmers' market, instead. One person noted: 'The only place I see all that in season is the grocery store produce section.' Another critic said: 'It's way too early in the season for most of those vegetables to be grown in her garden and ready to pick.' Another wrote: 'No dirt?' According to the California Farmland Trust, sweetcorn's typically harvested from June to September - which meant it would be slightly too early for Meghan to have grown her own at home. Odd: Not everyone was convinced and some pointed out inconsistencies with the post By contrast, broccoli's harvested much earlier in the year, according to the Vegetable Research & Information Centre. Spring onions, bell peppers, carrots and certain types of squash could be ripe enough for harvesting. Meghan and Harry's rescue dog Mia was first seen in the family's Christmas card in December. Among six pictures included in the festive greetings card was one that showed the Sussexes with their two children Archie and Lilibet, as well as other dogs, including Labrador Pula, and their beloved beagle Guy, who passed away earlier this year. Nine-year-old Mia was rescued by the couple from an animal testing center in 2022. Royal brand: Meghan's lifestyle brand's called As Ever Solo time: Meghan and Harry had a date night meal at their local Italian restaurant Tre Lune in Montecito Meghan claimed she was taught to feel guilty about being rich and revealed her fears about 'never having enough' money to Spanx founder Sara Blakely. Speaking on the final episode of Meghan's Confessions Of A Female Founder podcast, Blakely spoke of the joy of female entrepreneurs 'obtaining a lot of financial freedom and money for themselves'. Meghan admitted she would 'love to adopt' her mindset but claimed that women often felt discouraged from building their own fortunes: 'So many women, especially, we're taught to not even talk about money and there's lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot. 'And at the same time there's a scarcity mindset that it's easy to attach to, of like "I'll never have enough."' Talking about her own businesses, which include her As Ever brand, Meghan said: 'When you only have yourself to answer to I think it's twofold. It can be incredibly liberating or it can be incredibly lonely. 'There's a misconception that you need to go to Harvard Business School and have a lot of money and get all the best people behind you [to be successful in business]... So you talk yourself out of it.' The duchess was referring to her business and balancing work with motherhood as the first series of her podcast ended. After her As Ever products jam, flower sprinkles, tea, and other items sold out, Meghan said she wants to 'step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be'. Meghan said for now she is planning to launch a new range of merchandise in early 2026 - and may widen her brand into clothing. She said: 'The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date, because I do think that's an interesting space for me.' Her online store sold out in 45 minutes and contained homely items as well as her long-awaited pots of jam. In the interview, Meghan also revealed she wouldn't know 'what to call herself' if she had to write a CV. She said: 'If I had to write a resume, I don't know what I would call myself. I think it speaks to this chapter many of us find ourselves in, where none of us are one note. But I believe all the notes I am playing are part of the same song.' Meghan added that the 'mom moments' push her to success in the business world, with plans in the future ranging from home goods to fashion. Revealing her son Archie has begun to lose his teeth, she described becoming the tooth fairy and leaving coins and a little dinosaur underneath his pillow. She said: 'I had a lot of business meetings the next morning, but I still chose to cuddle with him the rest of the night. Those mom moments energize me to be a better founder, a better employer, a better boss.' Going, going, gone: She revealed she may not restock the previous As Ever goods she sold

Steve Coogan reads the names of over 15,000 children killed in Gaza at vigil
Steve Coogan made a statement at a vigil at the Houses of Parliament as he read the names of 15,000 children who have died in Gaza. The actor and comedian, 59, was among the many people at the vigil organised by Choose Love on Thursday morning. The Alan Partridge actor, was one of the many artists who, for several minutes, read a long list of names of children who had been killed during the Israel-Hamas war. 'They were the names of children who have been killed in the bombing of Gaza in the last 20 months. 'It was just showing that those names are not just statistics, they are real people, real children who had lives who died and it's to some extent to humanise them. 'There's a world war phrase that one death is a tragedy and 10 thousand is a statistic,' he said, speaking to Sky News he said that he was at the event. In the same interview, he added: 'I'm here to protest about the, basically, enforced starvation of thousands of women and children in Gaza by the weaponisation of the blockade on aid to those people. 'And also it's to give this the coverage that a lot of mainstream news outlets aren't giving.' He said human rights should apply to everyone, and criticised tough rhetoric from governments in the UK, France and Canada as He added that human rights should be applied to every human and rhetoric from UK, French, and Canadian governments was 'too little, too late'. 'Tragically, it's taken the mass, indiscriminate killing of innocent people to get to this stage,' he said. 'I think more and more people are realising that it has to stop.' Juliet Stevenson, best known for acting in Bend It Like Beckham and Truly, Madly, Deeply, was also among the actors reading the exhaustive list of names. This vigil comes as the celebrities supporting Palestine grow, with stars including Dua Lipa, Gary Lineker and Benedict Cumberbatch calling on the Government to suspend arms sales to Israel in an open letter. More Trending The open letter read: 'We urge you to take immediate action to end the UK's complicity in the horrors in Gaza.' It highlights: 'Right now, children in Gaza are starving while food and medicine sit just minutes away, blocked at the border. Words won't feed Palestinian children – we need action. Every single one of Gaza's 2.1 million people is at risk of starvation, as you read this.' 'Mothers, fathers, babies, grandparents – an entire people left to starve before the world's eyes. 290,000 children are on the brink of death – starved by the Israeli government for more than 70 days.' This was about Israel's 11-week blockade of food and other supplies into Gaza, which was lifted last week to allow a 'basic amount of food into Gaza'. Got a story? Nicola Peltz escalates legal fight against NYC dog groomers over pet deaths
Brooklyn Beckham's wife Nicola Peltz is reportedly pursuing legal action against a New York-based grooming company, alleging that its employee Jony Ceballos caused the deaths of two of her dogs Actress and heiress Nicola Peltz is accusing a New York pet grooming company of negligence in the deaths of two of her beloved dogs. She alleges that the same groomer who handled her chihuahua Nala - who died shortly after an appointment - is also responsible for the 2021 death of her French bulldog Frankie. Peltz, 30, claims her dogs were healthy before their grooming sessions with HoundSpa LLC and groomer Jony Ceballos. In a lawsuit, she describes Ceballos' actions as 'intentional and malicious abuse of dogs,' saying Nala was 'a healthy, happy dog' who returned home 'in severe physical distress.' Vet records showed Nala had fluid in her lungs and neurological issues. 'She was in serious physical distress with her lungs full of water, chest pulsating and hyperventilating,' Nicola stated. The pup died hours later, leaving Nicola emotionally devastated. Her lawsuit, filed last year, also claims her other dog, Angel, now screams and shakes when left alone after being groomed by the same company. The allegations don't stop there as Peltz claims it wasn't until Nala's death that she realized Frankie had also shown symptoms of trauma after a grooming by Ceballos. 'Upon returning from his grooming with Ceballos, Frankie was in visible physical distress, repeatedly stumbling as if he had been sedated.' Neurologists later discovered fluid in his brain, and part of it began to collapse, eventually requiring the removal of an eye before he passed away months later. 'Nicola cried and cared for her dog - not at that time suspecting that an individual charged with caring for her dog would have hurt him.' Nicola also accuses the groomer of mishandling her brother's dog, Banksy, by letting medicated shampoo get into the dog's eyes despite repeated warnings. 'He showed clear frustration' and 'rushed the conversation,' she said. Afterwards, Banksy's eyes were 'red and irritated, and had puss coming out of them." Despite complaints, no action was taken by HoundSpa's owner, Deborah Gittleman. Now, according to Mail Online, Nicola has hired celebrity attorney Marty Singer - dubbed 'Mad Dog' in Hollywood - to take the case to court. he New York Supreme Court has ordered both sides to turn over key documents, including Nala's necropsy and the company's insurance policies. Nicola must appear for a deposition before October 30. Online reviews echo similar concerns. 'Do not put your dogs in a dangerous situation and use them,' wrote one dog-owner, who said her dog came home with razor cuts. Another reviewer described how her dogs would 'shake when they would see Johnny [sic],' adding that he gave off a 'bad vibe.' She also noted that HoundSpa once operated out of the parking lot of Northwind Kennels, whose owner was arrested for multiple counts of animal cruelty. Peltz's lawsuit cites yet another disturbing customer account: 'Jonny… mishandled the puppy (in front of several witnesses) in such a horrific manner the pup peed as he grabbed them!' The customer wrote that 'all [the puppy's] desensitization training has been replaced by trauma,' adding that 'the poor pup has been left traumatized just seeing the van.' 'Gittleman should never have allowed Ceballos to continue to groom pets after receiving multiple customer complaints concerning his mistreatment and abuse of animals,' Peltz stated in the suit. The Mirror has approached Nicola's representatives and a spokesperson for HoundSpa LLC and groomer Jony Ceballos for comment on this story.
