Nicola Peltz escalates legal fight against NYC dog groomers over pet deaths
Brooklyn Beckham's wife Nicola Peltz is reportedly pursuing legal action against a New York-based grooming company, alleging that its employee Jony Ceballos caused the deaths of two of her dogs
Actress and heiress Nicola Peltz is accusing a New York pet grooming company of negligence in the deaths of two of her beloved dogs. She alleges that the same groomer who handled her chihuahua Nala - who died shortly after an appointment - is also responsible for the 2021 death of her French bulldog Frankie.
Peltz, 30, claims her dogs were healthy before their grooming sessions with HoundSpa LLC and groomer Jony Ceballos. In a lawsuit, she describes Ceballos' actions as 'intentional and malicious abuse of dogs,' saying Nala was 'a healthy, happy dog' who returned home 'in severe physical distress.'
Vet records showed Nala had fluid in her lungs and neurological issues. 'She was in serious physical distress with her lungs full of water, chest pulsating and hyperventilating,' Nicola stated. The pup died hours later, leaving Nicola emotionally devastated.
Her lawsuit, filed last year, also claims her other dog, Angel, now screams and shakes when left alone after being groomed by the same company.
The allegations don't stop there as Peltz claims it wasn't until Nala's death that she realized Frankie had also shown symptoms of trauma after a grooming by Ceballos.
'Upon returning from his grooming with Ceballos, Frankie was in visible physical distress, repeatedly stumbling as if he had been sedated.' Neurologists later discovered fluid in his brain, and part of it began to collapse, eventually requiring the removal of an eye before he passed away months later. 'Nicola cried and cared for her dog - not at that time suspecting that an individual charged with caring for her dog would have hurt him.'
Nicola also accuses the groomer of mishandling her brother's dog, Banksy, by letting medicated shampoo get into the dog's eyes despite repeated warnings. 'He showed clear frustration' and 'rushed the conversation,' she said. Afterwards, Banksy's eyes were 'red and irritated, and had puss coming out of them."
Despite complaints, no action was taken by HoundSpa's owner, Deborah Gittleman. Now, according to Mail Online, Nicola has hired celebrity attorney Marty Singer - dubbed 'Mad Dog' in Hollywood - to take the case to court.
he New York Supreme Court has ordered both sides to turn over key documents, including Nala's necropsy and the company's insurance policies. Nicola must appear for a deposition before October 30.
Online reviews echo similar concerns. 'Do not put your dogs in a dangerous situation and use them,' wrote one dog-owner, who said her dog came home with razor cuts.
Another reviewer described how her dogs would 'shake when they would see Johnny [sic],' adding that he gave off a 'bad vibe.' She also noted that HoundSpa once operated out of the parking lot of Northwind Kennels, whose owner was arrested for multiple counts of animal cruelty.
Peltz's lawsuit cites yet another disturbing customer account: 'Jonny… mishandled the puppy (in front of several witnesses) in such a horrific manner the pup peed as he grabbed them!' The customer wrote that 'all [the puppy's] desensitization training has been replaced by trauma,' adding that 'the poor pup has been left traumatized just seeing the van.'
'Gittleman should never have allowed Ceballos to continue to groom pets after receiving multiple customer complaints concerning his mistreatment and abuse of animals,' Peltz stated in the suit.
The Mirror has approached Nicola's representatives and a spokesperson for HoundSpa LLC and groomer Jony Ceballos for comment on this story.

"It is sad but we don't want to be sad about it because there is no point. It's been a great journey for us. "I started this when I was 22, now I'm going to be celebrating my 30th here. He said if the right investor came in and made an offer which was good enough then they would go into business again. The chef said: "Whilst a change of location seems impossible at the moment, it's not something we'd ever rule out. "The economy, as it is, is tragic for our industry. While there are places opening we often find it's people who have got big backing." It comes after Sunday Brunch star Elliot Kaye and Richie Hayes shared that they would be closing their modern-style greasy spoon. The North London eatery Norman's Cafe had long been a hub for influencers and fashion-forward people looking for a greasy spoon with a difference. Opened by Sunday Brunch chef Elliot Kaye and Richie Hayes, the posh restaurant first opened its doors in 2020. Norman's Cafe began as a sandwich shop before widening its menu to include a range of British classics. Despite its immense popularity, however, the shop's owners announced that it will close its doors in June 2025.

Nicola Peltz's pals break silence for first time over Brooklyn Beckham claims
Nicola Peltz's pals address claims that she is "isolating" Brooklyn Beckham in new defence - as sources close to the Beckham family speak of their continued upset as the feud rumbles on Brooklyn Beckham's Instagram video last week in which he said he would 'always choose' his wife must have hurt his parents amid their well-publicised family feud. But other recent social media posts have allegedly proved just, if not more, painful to David and Victoria as the falling out shows no sign of abating. A picture uploaded to Instagram three days ago shows Brooklyn sipping a pint in a pub, with bottles of his own-brand hot sauce on the table in front of him. Innocuous enough to outsiders – but friends of the Beckhams recognised the distinctive light fittings and stark green walls in the background. One pal says: 'The picture was taken in London's Wigmore pub, which is part of the Langham Hotel where the Beckhams have sometimes stayed. 'The fact that Brooklyn appeared to be in the country and failed to see any of his family was heartbreaking. And not only that, but here he was posting about it.' Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, had flown to London for a joint photoshoot with Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler, which took place less than two miles from the Beckham family home in Holland Park. Dad David, 50, was not far away – he was pictured with the King at the Chelsea Flower show that day – just three miles from the Wigmore. A pal reveals: 'Brooklyn had kept the visit quiet from not only his mum and dad but his siblings and extended family. It was terribly sad that he had flown thousands of miles to London and hadn't engaged at all. It would have been very easy to meet up.' Another Instagram post, made on May 16, showed Brooklyn with Nicola's late grandmother to mark the anniversary of her death. He captioned it: 'I miss you and will love you forever.' A friend said: 'Brooklyn's heart is of course in the right place…but it hasn't gone unnoticed how all the while he is posting about Nicola's family he is silent about his own, including his own grandfather whose birthday it was last week.' To acquaintances of the family, the blame for what they believe are 'performative' social media posts lies with heiress Nicola. They list concerns that she is somehow orchestrating her husband's social media activity, which they claim is out of character, and that she is responsible for 'isolating' Brooklyn from his friends and family. A pal says: 'She is creating conflict where there is none and divides are springing up left, right and centre.' But a source close to the couple has hit back at suggestions Nicola is 'controlling' her husband – and insists Brooklyn is very much his own man. They reveal: 'She is not isolating him at all. He is free to do what he wants and he loves his wife and they are happy together. They are each other's family.' Brooklyn captioned last weekend's motorbike video, shot in Beverly Hills: 'My whole world. I will love you forever. I always choose you baby.' The source insists this was 'completely misinterpreted' as being a dig at his own family. The source adds: 'It's a real shame that what Brooklyn did – which was a statement of love for his wife – is being portrayed as something that it's not. 'He loves his wife and everyone should be proud: his parents, his family friends. He stands by his wife and that's a normal thing to be a loving and supportive husband.' Asked if there was any desire for reconciliation on Brooklyn's side, the source said it was impossible given the highly charged atmosphere. Sources close to Nicola have previously insisted that as 'an outsider coming into the Beckham family, she has helped Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within'. The claims – described as 'patently untrue and ludicrous' by friends of David and Victoria – were the 'nail in the coffin' of any future relationship, according to insiders. Despite this, sources close to Nicola claim she doesn't want any fighting and is upset by the feud being played out publicly. Her friends say she tried to integrate. 'Nicola was working hard to have a healthy relationship,' says one. Pals of the Beckhams dispute this, with one saying: 'It's hard to find a way back after absurd allegations of emotional abuse.' Despite Nicola's pals claiming she doesn't want a battle, in other facets of her life she is known to fight. Last week it emerged she had hired high-powered celebrity attorney 'Mad Dog' Marty Singer, who has represented stars such as Michael Jackson and Kim Kardashian. Nicola is suing a dog groomer she alleges is responsible for the death of her chihuahua Nala and French bulldog Frankie. It comes after previous legal battles with her wedding planners. A source said: 'Nicola's family haven't become billionaires by being shy and retiring... it's in their nature to fight for what they believe is right.' As for the feud with her in-laws, many wonder how it will ever resolve. Some say a big sign will be if Brooklyn acknowledges his sister Harper's 14th birthday next month – he did not publicly mark Victoria's 51st nor David's 50th this year. Brooklyn and Nicola have posted pictures of themselves with Harper, and he is thought to be very fond of his youngest sibling. A pal says: 'Brooklyn isn't talking to his mum and dad, as well as Romeo, because he disapproves of his girlfriend. 'But in that case this 'feud' should start and end with them… 'The fact he has distanced himself from the whole, extended family is what makes this so sad. Perhaps Harper's birthday – and an acknowledgement of it – will be the first steps towards a peace deal.' Watch this space next month – but at this rate peace looks a long way off.

Ever slept inside a cherry blossom forest? This San Francisco hotel offers a suite you have to see.
Springtime in San Francisco's Union Square means you'll see flowers everywhere as part of the plaza's annual 'in bloom' celebration. It's an upbeat, joyful time—and while the neighboring Westin St. Francis decorates its lobby with flowers to the degree that it's worth stepping into for an Instagrammable moment, this year the venerated hotel rolled out something even more intense. It's an over-the-top, extravagant beyond belief, frothy confection of a springtime suite. The ' Suite in Bloom ' is billed as a 'luxurious floral escape,' and that captures it exactly. It's a dream come true for anyone who ever wanted to retreat to the woods and live with nature's bountiful color—but without, you know, the actual nature part. The two-bedroom suite is utterly bedecked in 'cherry blossoms' and holds three life-sized 'trees' (all faux foliage in this case). Ivy twines everywhere, and even the bathroom shower is festooned. I visited with my daughter and her friend, and we all fangirled over the idea that we had always wanted a tree in our childhood bedrooms. We also loved the discreet machine that periodically emitted a floral fragrance into the suite. We walked back and forth between the rooms in a daze. We had never seen a hotel space that was so devoted to fantasy, to surprising and pleasing the guests. Each room in the suite has a French bistro set to enjoy a glass of rosé in front of an incredible skyline view out the window (the suite's on the ninth floor). The photos you see here are the main bedroom, and the second bedroom has a Murphy bed, two trees and a sitting room with a sofa. This is the first year the Westin St. Francis has decorated the suite, and it's only available until July 31 (the lowest rate we could find for the remainder of the run is $894). If you can't get in this year, it will be offered again next spring. So how did this incredible suite even get decorated? A team of 20 people helmed by Flowers by Edgar worked all day to set it up. These workers lovingly orchestrated the transformation of a hotel suite into an orchard you'd expect to see a fawn walking around in. There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of individually placed flowers poked into the 'frog' of a false wall. That night, I lay in bed looking at how each individual flower was embedded in the wall. Although the room's terribly romantic, I was actually glad my husband wasn't there because I think he might've felt a bit of claustrophobia at the amount of pink involved… and like me, he would be tripping on the ivy at the base of the tree. Our group checked in, swooned, took about a million photos, then went to the hotel's beautiful wood-paneled Westin Club Lounge for some snacks. Once upon a time, the Westin St. Francis washed coins for its guests, and you can see the machine that performed that duty in the small St. Francis Museum. It wasn't that long ago that women wore white gloves, and coins could soil them if not cleaned. We went back to the room for more photos, and then headed out on foot to see the enormous R(Evolution) statue in front of the Ferry Building. Returning in the evening, the three of us ate a great informal meal at the lobby's Cafe Rito (shrimp scampi, skirt steak and chicken alfredo). The hotel itself is worthy of a story. It survived San Francisco's two biggest earthquakes (1906 and 1989) and sits right on the cable car line. If you watched the movie Babylon, this is also the hotel where, during a wild party in 1921, actress Virginia Rappe was assaulted and actor Fatty Arbuckle was charged with her murder. I was told which room it happened in and crept outside it that night to marvel at the darkness of history. It's just a room now. Anyone can stay without knowing what happened there. Another astonishing part of the hotel is the fact that a delicate staircase goes all the way up the original 12-story building. It's terrifying-slash-exciting to walk past enormous windows to the exterior while on a winding staircase. The hotel is honestly a blast to explore at night, with wooden hallways, impressive elevator banks and historical photographs everywhere. Don't leave without taking a ride on the exterior glass elevator. It goes up to the 32nd-floor Tower Salon—part of a more recent addition—where you can get a cocktail at night or a breakfast buffet in the morning. The views up there are supreme at night. The next morning, we rose well-rested… but reluctant to leave the room. For breakfast, we got housemade pastries at Cafe Rito and brought them back to the room to eat because we honestly just wanted to savor every last minute in that magical space. It was San Francisco at its finest: history, creativity, spectacle.
