There's a new 'Big Ben' clock tower coming to Dubai
Dubai has announced that it has started construction on the world's tallest residential clock tower and it's to be over four times the size of London's famous Big Ben. Aeternitas Tower is a branded residence to be developed by London Gate in collaboration with renowned watch designer Franck Muller. It's also to be the world's tallest branded residence. The Dubai clock tower is currently under construction and is due to be handed over in June 2027.
Aeternitas Tower is set to be 450 metres tall and only 22 metres shorter than the world's tallest residential building, Central Park Tower in New York City. The tower is located in Dubai Marina with views overlooking the Marina, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Harbour.
There will be 649 luxury residences inside the Dubai clock tower including one to three bedroom apartments, villas, and mansion duplexes. Residents are set to enjoy a variety of hotel-like features such as valet, 24/7 concierge, housekeeping and a private chef service, along with a gym and yoga studio, swimming pool, padel court, private cinema, cigar room, library and music room. Each resident that moves in is also promised to be gifted a limited edition Franck Muller watch.
The penthouse in Aeternitas tower sold for approximately Dhs500 million.
The world's second tallest tower, Burj Azizi is also under construction. There are lots of other megaprojects happening in Dubai and the UAE too such as Palm Jebel Ali, World Islands and other major developments around the country.

Employee wins Dhs200,000 compensation for work-related eye injury in Abu Dhabi
The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a company to pay an employee Dhs200,000 in compensation for a work-related injury, as well as covering the legal fees and expenses. The case concerns a worker who filed a lawsuit against his employer, requesting Dhs500,000 in material and moral compensation, plus legal interest at a rate of 9% per annum from the date of filing until full payment. He also requested fees, expenses and attorney's fees as a precautionary measure. The worker claimed that he was injured at work when one of the brakes suddenly loosened, causing the new bolts to come loose and leading to a rapid and sudden recoil in his left eye. The Abu Dhabi Penal Court ruled that the company should pay a fine of Dhs25,000. This was appealed and the penalty was reduced to Dhs10,000, a decision that was upheld. The worker sustained physical and psychological injuries as a result of the incident, which resulted in him losing sight in his left eye. According to the medical report, he is now partially sighted. A forensic doctor was appointed to examine him, assess his injuries and the resulting damage, and prepare a detailed medical report outlining the current and anticipated future physical and psychological effects. The Court noted that the documents proved the company's negligence and failure to take safety precautions had caused the victim's injury, and fined it Dhs10,000 after it appealed the initial ruling. As this ruling was upheld by the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal, the elements of negligence on the part of the company were established and the ruling became final and binding. The Court explained that the report by the appointed forensic doctor concluded that the worker's injuries, namely injury to the left eye resulting in blurred vision and near blindness, were sustained as a result of the accident. The court deemed this to be material damage, amounting to Dhs150,000. The injury also caused him pain and distress, which the court considered to be non-economic damage, estimated at Dhs50,000. Therefore, the court ruled that the company should pay the worker Dhs200,000 in compensation for all damages.

Dubai AED 10mn+ off-plan sales surge 240% as renovated villas, branded residences drive luxury market
Off-plan villa sales in Dubai's AED 10 million-plus segment have surged by 240 per cent over the past two years, reflecting a profound shift in buyer appetite and investor confidence, according to new data from Savills Middle East. The number of off-plan transactions in this ultra-prime bracket rose from 952 in 2022 to 3,223 by the end of 2024. In the first half of 2025 alone, AED 10 million-plus property deals reached 3,731 — already 15 per cent higher than the full-year total for 2024. Off-plan properties now make up 69 per cent of all AED 10 million-plus transactions, a dramatic increase from just two years ago. Dubai's ultra-prime market booms 'Dubai is no longer a stopover market,' said Andrew Cummings, Head of Residential Agency at Savills Middle East. 'Buyers entering the prime space today are globally mobile, long-term focused, and looking to anchor their wealth in a city that offers both quality of life and asset strength.' Cummings added that the spike in luxury sales 'speaks to a structural shift in demand' and is 'a testament to global capital's attraction to Dubai real estate.' Key off-plan developments fueling this growth include Palm Jebel Ali, District One West, and The Acres. These mega-projects, backed by major developers and positioned in high-demand zones, are helping Dubai cement its status as a hub for premium real estate investment. Meanwhile, ready (secondary) villa transactions in the AED 10 million-plus market have remained consistent at approximately 1,500 deals per year, indicating that while resale interest remains stable, investor momentum is increasingly shifting toward new builds. Renovated communities break price ceilings The revival of older communities is also drawing attention. In Jumeirah Islands, just 8 properties exceeded AED 10 million in 2021. By 2024, that number jumped to 89. As of mid-2025, more than 90 per cent of sales in the community have been above AED 10 million — and notably, 40 per cent surpassed the AED 20 million mark. Jumeirah Islands has even eclipsed pricing benchmarks in Dubai's traditionally top-tier enclave, Emirates Hills, with a record AED 6,375 per square foot. Branded residences gain global momentum Branded residences have emerged as a major force in Dubai's high-end market, accounting for approximately 30 per cent of AED 10 million-plus apartment sales. According to Savills, Dubai now ranks as the most active branded residential market in the world. Projects like The Lana Residences, Bvlgari Residences, and One&Only One Za'abeel are commanding prices upwards of AED 10,000 per square foot and drawing interest from ultra-high-net-worth individuals seeking exclusivity and design pedigree. Savills forecasts that Dubai will represent 40 per cent of all branded residential developments in the Middle East and Africa by 2031, underlining its growing dominance in the global luxury landscape.
