Bobby Deol On Thalapathy Vijay's Last Film Jana Nayagan: ‘People Gather Wherever He Goes'
Last Updated: Bobby Deol shares his experience working with Thalapathy Vijay in Jana Nayagan, rumoured to be Vijay's final movie before politics. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol is set to share the screen with Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay in the upcoming political action drama Jana Nayagan. In a recent interview with Faridoon Shahryar on YouTube, the Animal star opened up about his experience working in South Indian cinema, his admiration for Vijay, and his earlier collaborations with regional stars. 'It's His Last Film" — Bobby on Vijay's Political Plans Speaking about Jana Nayagan, Bobby revealed that the film is expected to hit theatres during Pongal 2026 and may mark Vijay's final outing before stepping into politics. 'I am doing a film with Vijay Thalapathy. It is gonna be released on Pongal. It's his last film because he's going to join politics — that is what he is saying," Bobby shared. Calling Vijay a 'massive star," Bobby recounted how the production team had to limit outdoor shoots to avoid overwhelming crowds. 'I initially asked the team where we would be shooting. However, they told me we'll mainly have to shoot within studios because if Thalapathy Vijay sir goes out, people gather around, and we won't be able to work. He is that big of a star," he said. Memories of Working with NBK and Suriya During the conversation, Bobby also reflected on his previous experiences in South Indian films, including his work with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suriya. 'It was great working with Bala sir. He is a star of the masses — that's his title. Over there, everyone has something like this to their name. He is a great person to work with," Bobby said of NBK. He then addressed his role in Kanguva, which starred Suriya, admitting the project did not meet expectations. 'I did Kanguva, which did not do well. However, I always want to do a movie with Suriya… he is a great actor, but the script went wrong," he candidly stated. About Jana Nayagan Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is rumoured to feature Vijay as a former police officer drawn into a high-stakes political battle. Alongside Vijay and Bobby Deol, the cast includes Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, and Mamitha Baiju in pivotal roles. The film is slated for a January 9, 2026 release, strategically timed ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. While speculation remains that this could be Vijay's swansong before entering politics, his co-star Mamitha Baiju recently suggested that his political plans may hinge on the election outcome. With a powerful ensemble cast, a politically charged storyline, and the pairing of Bobby Deol with Thalapathy Vijay for the first time, Jana Nayagan is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases of 2026. Dinesh steps into multiple roles for action-drama Suri Anna
Speaking on the sidelines of the teaser launch, Dinesh expressed gratitude to those who have inspired him, including his parents and his brother Vijay, who serves as the film's co-producer. 'But our goal is to drive home a clear message; no one should choose such a life. Family should always come first. This film is especially aimed at the youth.'
