PM Modi to launch projects worth ₹50,000 cr. in poll-bound Bihar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Bihar on Thursday (May 29, 2025) on a two-day visit.
He is scheduled to launch development projects worth ₹50,000 crore during the visit. This will be his third trip to the election-bound State in the last five months. He is likely to visit Bihar again on June 20.
The local BJP office was bustling with activity on Wednesday (May 28, 2025) as leaders and workers were making last-minute preparations to welcome Mr. Modi.
32 welcome arches
Mr. Modi will reach Patna on May 29 to inaugurate the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport's new integrated terminal building constructed at a cost of ₹ 1,200 crore, and also lay the foundation stone of a new civil enclave at the Bihta airport, which is about 30 km away from the State capital.
Thereafter, he will hold a six-km roadshow from the Patna airport to the State BJP headquarters on the Beer Chand Patel road, for which as many 32 welcome arches have been erected by the BJP leaders. Party workers and supporters will shower flower petals on Mr. Modi from these 32 makeshift platforms. 'Over one lakh people will be welcoming the PM during his roadshow tomorrow [May 29] in Patna,' said BJP MLA and Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin, who is in charge of the roadshow in Patna.
At the State party headquarters, Mr. Modi will meet local party workers and leaders apparently to give a pep talk for the Assembly election, due in October-November this year.
He had earlier visited the State in February and April. On May 4, he inaugurated Khelo India Youth Games 2025 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna through video conferencing.
Rally at Bikramganj
On May 30, Mr. Modi will address a public rally at Bikramganj in Rohtas district, said former State party president and MP Sanjay Jaiswal. 'Over five lakh people are expected to come…five German hanger tents have been put up there,' he said. People from neighbouring Bhojpur and Buxar districts too are expected to visit the rally at Bikramganj.
'Our party's biggest leader PM Modi may visit Bihar again on June 20 but the venue has not been decided yet,' said a senior State party leader.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary from the JD(U), the BJP's alliance partner, said: 'Whenever PM visits Bihar, he brings along major development projects, and this visit will be no exception.'
At the Bikramganj rally, the Prime Minister is to gift development projects worth ₹50,000 crore to the State. He is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of a 1,500-MW super thermal power plant to be built at a cost of ₹29,947 crore at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district. This will be second largest power generation plant of the National Thermal Power Corporation in the country. He will also inaugurate some rail and road projects, said senior State BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
However, the Opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and the Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Mahasabha (ABKM) have announced that they would stage protests at eight places in the area urging Mr. Modi to address their long-standing demand for the construction of the Indrapuri reservoir and modernisation of the Sone canal system. 'He [PM Modi] has repeatedly been ignoring farmers' demands. He must address them this time,' said CPI(M-L) State secretary Kunal and ABKM leader Umesh Singh.

Working on setting up major industries in Mandya: HDK
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday reaffirmed his commitment to bringing in major industries to the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency and said he will personally seek cooperation from the State government for the region's development. Speaking at the platinum jubilee celebrations of MySugar High School in Mandya, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the aspirations of Mandya's people must be realised through unity and sustained efforts. 'I was elected with the blessings of voters who transcended caste and party lines. I am committed to striving for a meaningful development of the constituency,' he said. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had entrusted him with a key ministerial responsibility, and that he is actively working towards establishing a major industry in Mandya. The cooperation of the State government is vital to make this vision a reality. Mr. Kumaraswamy highlighted recent developments, including the sanctioning of ₹4 crore for the construction of Raitha Bhavan and ₹2.5 crore for Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. 'It is unfortunate that political infighting has surfaced over the spending of Raitha Bhavan funds.' On the future of MySugar High School, Mr. Kumaraswamy said it currently has around 30 students. The management had been told to get approval to start Pre-University courses to improve enrolment and prepare a detailed blueprint to transform this school into a model institution. 'I will ensure full support. The school's rich legacy must be preserved and nurtured,' he added. The Minister spoke about ongoing efforts to revive the Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant in Bhadravati, with a proposed investment of ₹15,000 to ₹18,000 crore and criticised the State government for allegedly creating hurdles in the revival of public sector industries like HMT. 'We are determined to protect the legacy of the Mysore Maharajas and M. Visvesvaraya,' Mr. Kumaraswamy said. Nirmalanandanatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Math, Purushothamananda Swami, writer Krishne Gowda, former MLA K.T. Srikante Gowda, MySugar chairman Gangadhar and others were present.

'Indira Gandhi Fixed Elections': BJP's Nishikant Dubey Cites 1975 Verdict To Hit Back At Rahul
Last Updated: The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Election resulted in a sweeping victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which clinched 235 seats in a commanding performance. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, urging him to revisit the 1975 Allahabad High Court judgment that found then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi guilty of electoral malpractices. Dubey's remarks followed Rahul Gandhi's recent statement alleging that the BJP had undermined democratic processes by 'rigging" the 2024 Maharashtra election in its favour. 'Rahul Baba, how is the election fixed or stolen? Read the exploits of your grandmother, Indira Gandhi, which is the judgment of the Allahabad High Court," Dubey said in a post on X. राहुल बाबा इलेक्शन फ़िक्स या कैसे चुराया जाता है,अपने दादी इंदिरा गांधी जी का कारनामा पढ़िए जो इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट का जजमेंट है1. 1971 के चुनाव में सेना तथा उसके हेलीकॉप्टर का इस्तेमाल हुआ2. प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी जी के चुनाव में शराब,कपड़ा खुले आम बाँटे गए3. हिंदू धर्म के… — Dr Nishikant Dubey (@nishikant_dubey) June 7, 2025 The Allahabad High Court, in its June 12, 1975 ruling, had found Indira Gandhi guilty of electoral misconduct and invalidated her election to the Lok Sabha from Rae Bareli. The verdict led to her disqualification and became a key trigger for the imposition of Emergency later that month. Dubey also criticised the Congress party's track record on democracy, adding, 'The army and its helicopters were used in the 1971 elections. Liquor and clothes were openly distributed during the election of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Ask for votes in the name of Hinduism. Voters were brought in vehicles. Money is distributed indiscriminately. Government employees engaged in an election campaign. You create the election drama, your family ruins the country, and you will not get the liberty to loot the elections anymore." On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Maharashtra assembly election held in November 2024 was 'rigged", and claimed that the same will be repeated in Bihar assembly polls due later this year. In a post on X, Gandhi shared his article published in a newspaper, explaining the 'rigging" in the Maharashtra assembly polls. 'Maharashtra assembly elections in 2024 were a blueprint for rigging democracy. My article shows how this happened, step by step," Gandhi said on X. The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Election resulted in a sweeping victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which clinched 235 seats in a commanding performance. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) solidified its dominance by emerging as the single-largest party, securing 132 seats. First Published:
