HSBC introduces pioneering liquidity solution for Middle East corporates, advancing real-time treasury management

HSBC has unveiled an innovative cash concentration solution designed to help corporate clients navigate the Middle East's accelerating digital transformation. The HSBC Seven-Day Cash Concentration Solution empowers businesses to automate in-country liquidity management every day of the week, including weekends and national holidays.
This marks a first for the Middle Eastern financial services industry. HSBC will initially launch the solution in the UAE and Egypt, with plans to expand across additional markets within the Group's global network later this year. The initiative reinforces HSBC's leadership in cash management solutions across the region.
As digital transformation becomes central to economic diversification strategies across the Middle East, the region has emerged as a global leader in real-time payments and digital business models. According to the World Economic Forum, the Middle East is the fastest-growing real-time payments market worldwide, projected to reach $2.6bn by 2027.
Kyle Boag, Head of Global Payments Solutions, HSBC Middle East, North Africa, and Turkiye, stated: 'Launching an advanced cash management solution in the Middle East enables corporates to capitalize on the region's digital evolution, supporting the development of real-time treasury operations.'
Boag added: 'With real-time payments and e-commerce redefining financial landscapes, corporate treasurers are shifting to a 24/7 liquidity management mindset. HSBC's solution eliminates traditional barriers, extending automated liquidity management beyond the conventional workweek to a seamless, daily operation.'
Todd Wilcox, Deputy Chairperson and CEO, HSBC Bank Egypt, commented: 'This launch represents a milestone for HSBC in the Middle East and aligns with Egypt's broader digitalization strategy. Our solution grants corporate clients continuous, 24/7 liquidity management, transitioning from a five-day model to a more flexible, efficient system. This transformation enhances working capital efficiency and strengthens financial resilience.'
By consolidating positive and negative balances across multiple HSBC accounts into a single account, the solution optimizes liquidity, reduces borrowing costs, and enhances financial agility. HSBC's 'Global Liquidity Solutions' self-service platform further empowers customers to manage liquidity autonomously seven days a week, allowing real-time oversight of sweep execution and inter-company positions.

Iran's Foreign Minister hails ‘unprecedented' progress in diplomatic ties with Egypt

A phone call took place between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on October 7, 2-24- press photo Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday that relations between Tehran and Cairo have entered a new phase, describing the current level of engagement and trust between the two countries as 'unprecedented.' Writing on the social media platform X, Araghchi emphasized that diplomacy between Iran and Egypt had reached a turning point, characterized by increased political cooperation and, notably, a heightened sense of mutual confidence. During his visit to Cairo, Araghchi held high-level meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. He noted the significance of these discussions, highlighting them as milestones in the evolving relationship between the two regional powers. Araghchi also underscored Iran and Egypt's shared responsibility in promoting regional peace and stability, citing their deep-rooted civilizations and influential roles in Middle Eastern affairs. In a gesture reflecting cultural and religious appreciation,Araghchi visited the historic Sayyidna Al-Hussein Mosque in Cairo, where he performed evening prayers. He later dined at the traditional Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant in Khan El-Khalili, joined by prominent Egyptian figures, including three former foreign ministers—Amr Moussa, Nabil Fahmy, and Mohamed El-Orabi. According to Araghchi, the discussions were highly constructive. This visit marks one of the most visible signs of rapprochement between Iran and Egypt after years of limited diplomatic engagement, signaling potential shifts in regional alliances and cooperation.

Iranian official says US nuclear proposal is ‘incoherent and disjointed,' as sources warn talks momentum is collapsing

CNN — A senior Iranian official told CNN the new nuclear deal proposal presented to Tehran in recent days is 'incoherent and disjointed,' as sources familiar with the progress of the talks said the momentum behind negotiations to secure a new deal appears to be collapsing. The private pessimism contrasts with President Donald Trump's public optimism last week that the administration was 'very close to a solution.' CNN has also learned that the US has shifted position on the issue of uranium enrichment in the new proposal, in comparison to what officials had said publicly. It suggests the US could invest in Iran's civilian nuclear power program and join a consortium that would oversee the enrichment of low-level uranium inside of Iran for an unspecified amount of time. That consortium is expected to include Middle Eastern nations and the UN's nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. Previously, senior US officials have said no enrichment inside Iran could take place under a new deal, and top US officials demanded that Iran stop enrichment and only import the material – a suggestion Tehran firmly rejected. The prospect of allowing continued low-level enrichment in the country would likely enrage Iran hawks in the US and Israel and hearkens back to the 2015 nuclear deal, from which Trump withdrew. However later Monday, Trump said that the Iran deal will not allow uranium enrichment. 'Under our potential Agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM,' the president wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. Iranian officials have repeatedly said that they are open to the idea of an enrichment consortium but have insisted Iran must be able to keep control of its own enrichment capabilities. The senior Iranian official on Monday denounced the new proposal, saying that at 'at first glance, is assessed as incoherent and disjointed, very unrealistic, and with excessive demands.' They argued that the primary barrier to progress was the US' inconsistency. 'The fact that the Americans constantly change their positions has so far been the main obstacle to the success of the talks and now makes the work more difficult than ever,' the official added. The official also alleged the latest text directly contradicts prior understandings. 'The text is clearly in conflict with the latest agreement reached during the fifth round of negotiations,' the official stated. They reaffirmed Tehran's uncompromising stance on a critical issue, saying, 'Iran's position on enrichment is firm and steadfast.' Iran and the United States concluded a fifth round of high-stakes nuclear talks in Rome on May 23 amid growing skepticism in Tehran about the chances of a deal. After that round of talks, the two sides 'agreed to meet again in the near future,' a US senior administration official said at the time. Now, however, the next round of talks is very uncertain and may not happen at all, the sources familiar said. This story has been updated with additional information. CNN's Samantha Waldenberg contributed to this report.
