Guardiola unsure if Club World Cup will affect City's Premier League campaign
England manager Thomas Tuchel recently said the involvement of City and Chelsea in this summer's tournament in the United States would hand the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal a 'huge advantage' in the title race.
Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also described the event as 'the worst idea ever implemented in football' because of concerns over player welfare.
Guardiola, however, insists City – who face Al-Hilal in a last-16 tie in Orlando on Monday night (2am Tuesday UK) – are focused on rediscovering their best after a frustrating 2024-25 season and claiming the prize.
The City manager said: 'I try to relax, enjoy the days here and the good vibes that we have, the competition and we try to win it.
'The most important thing is to recover and find within ourselves what we were. That's my main target in this tournament.
'I want them to feel that this is our path again to be competitive like we have been in eight of the last nine years.
'After this, let's see what happens. Let's see what happens after the final. We will rest for the time the Premier League allow us.
'Maybe in November, December or January it will be a disaster, we are exhausted and the World Cup has destroyed us.
'I don't know, it's the first time in our lives that this has happened. We will see when we come back.'

Guardiola says he can understand the viewpoint of his old rival Klopp, now head of global soccer for Red Bull, who had a team involved in the tournament in Salzburg.
Yet he suggested people complaining might be jealous.
Speaking at a press conference, Guardiola said: 'I fought a lot with Jurgen many, many times. I know where his idea comes from.
'I respect him, I would defend his argument as well. At the same time, as managers, we are in a job. We don't organise the competitions.
'Once we are here, we are proud. Many, many teams complain about these competitions because they are not here, otherwise they might love being here.'
Weather problems have been a recurring issue in the tournament both in terms of intense heat and thunderstorms.

Chelsea's last-16 victory over Benfica on Saturday was suspended for almost two hours due to lightning in the vicinity.
Guardiola said: 'I am an extraordinary manager but to control lightning and thunder, still I am not good enough!
'If it is (suspended) here the same reason as why they suspend the other one, I will go inside and we will continue to be active and play again.
'It is not the ideal situation but I grew up to understand not to be worried about the situations that I can't control. So no problem.'

That said, the Reds hardly spent anything last summer so will have had the room to invest. Manchester United spent £62.5m to add Matheus Cunha but he is their only summer signing thus far despite their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo. They've had several offers for the Brentford man rejected but the deal is expected to get over the line. Manchester City have added three new faces with Rayan Cherki among them. Pep Guardiola is eyeing a rebuild and their summer recruitment will be aided by the millions they receive from the Club World Cup, where they have advanced to the knockout stages. Newcastle have been somewhat hampered by PSR in the past but this new accounting year could give them space to invest. They're going after Brighton's Joao Pedro whilst they have also expressed their interest in goalkeeper James Trafford and Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga. Arsenal are expected to sign a striker this summer but nothing has been confirmed yet with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres on their radar. Wrexham duo Andy Cannon and Mo Faal still out injured
Phil Parkinson's men finished runners-up in League One last term to secure an historic third successive promotion. But midfielder Andy Cannon and striker Mo Faal are still recovering from injury. Cannon underwent surgery after rupturing a cruciate ligament during the 2-1 win at Mansfield Town on February 23 and is facing a lengthy spell out of action while Faal sustained a thigh problem during training in April. "The players were back in for testing on Wednesday and pre-season starts officially on Monday," said Parkinson. "It has been good for the lads to have a bit of time off. "They have obviously been doing the off-season programmes we gave them and a few have had appointments with specialists to clear up minor issues so that everybody comes back in a good place. "Mo has still got a problem with his thigh which will take a while and Andy is out as well but everybody else should be fit and raring to go. "Andy has got quite a long road ahead of him. Elsewhere, long-time Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has left the Merseyside club, while England coasted past Jamaica in their final European Women's Championship warm-up. Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Brighton striker Joao Pedro, the PA news agency understands, for a fee reported to be £60million. It has also been reported the 23-year-old has agreed a seven-year deal with the Blues and could feature for them in the on-going Club World Cup after flying from Brazil to the US for his medical. Pedro could make his Chelsea debut in Friday's quarter-final clash against Palmeiras in Philadelphia. The Brazilian, who will become Chelsea's sixth summer signing, scored 10 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for Brighton last season. Manchester City will bid to join Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup as they come up against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal on Monday. City were the only team in the tournament to win all three of their group games and will hope to carry that momentum into their last-16 outing in Orlando.
