Man runs 341km in year-long fundraiser for Highland Hospice
Frazer Grant is raising money for the Highland Hospice throughout the whole of 2025 after they cared for his wife, Sinéad, in her final week.
A target of £60,000 was set to help give back for the seven days of care Sinéad received at the hospice in 2024.

Grant said: 'The Highland Hospice needs to raise £8,500 every single day to provide its vital services across the Highlands.
'That is why I have set a target of raising £60,000 this year, to give back for the seven days of incredible care Sinéad received.'
Grant has completed several fundraising events, including a half-marathon row in February and the Inverness half-marathon in March.
With his latest bid, he will have ran a total of 341km with the weighted vest by Friday throughout the month of July
'Each run in July has been challenging but also very special. The route is the last route Sinéad and I ran together, so it's emotional', Grant said.
Sinéad, who previously a doctor at Raigmore Hospital, was diagnosed with Melanoma in March 2024.
After a short battle, the 34-year-old took unwell last November, when she was admitted to the Highland Hospice where she spent her final days.
Grant continued: 'The Highland Hospice was incredible. To me, they are more than just people doing their jobs, they are angels.
'Now, I want to give back. It feels like the only way I can thank the Hospice for what it did for our family in the darkest of days, and to remember my beautiful, kind and caring wife.'
Grant said he is grateful to the support he's received from onlookers and those who have donated money to his appeals thus far.

'I've been lucky to have friends turning up almost every day to join me, something that has pushed me on, even on the most difficult days', he said.
'Sinéad dedicated her career and life to caring for others, and the Highland Hospice team showed her that same compassion.
'That's why I'm determined to hit my £60,000 goal and give back for the incredible care they showed Sinéad and continue to show people every day.'
A JustGiving page has been set up for those who wish to donate as he continues his fundraising events right up until his late wife's first anniversary.

It comes after Sam Faiers admitted she doesn't put sunscreen on her children in a controversial statement on SPF, where she claimed some brands are 'harmful' and full of 'toxic ingredients'. Danielle shared on Instagram: 'I've got people in my comments saying that, "sunscreen is full of toxins and it can cause cancer. 'This is false information. It is not true, and it is highly dangerous information. This has started on TikTok and wherever else it started, but it's false. 'We are highly regulated in the UK, and these products would not be on the shelves if they were full of toxins that could give you cancer. 'I understand people read things and believe them, but please don't spread lies because it is so dangerous. People need to protect themselves, and one of those things is by using sunscreen.' In recent months, doctors have been forced to speak out after videos claiming sun tan lotion contains chemicals that are 'more cancerous than the sun', have racked up tens of thousands of views on TikTok. Among those peddling the information are influencers with thousands of followers, including Lauryn Goodman and Kelsey Parker. Most recently, Sam was branded 'irresponsible and naive' by a horrified skin doctor after admitting her three children don't wear sunscreen because she wrongly claimed many SPF brands are 'harmful'. Dr Perry, who is the owner of skin clinics chain Cosmedics , claimed the reality star is 'misleading' fans into not using sunscreen on their children and it can 'double the risk of getting skin cancer' as they 'do not build up a tolerance to sun exposure'. Sam revealed that she doesn't use suncream on her children by sharing a snap of her youngest son Edward, two, playing in the shade. She wrote: 'So this is always a bit of a controversial one, but honestly, me and my whole family don't actually wear sunscreen. 'Over the years, the kids have built up a really good tolerance to being in the sun. Of course if it's really hot and the sun feels too harsh I'll make sure we head into the shade... usually around lunchtime we'll go in, have something to eat and just avoid those peak hours. 'I'm really careful about sunscreen in general, because a lot of them are actually pretty harmful and full of toxic ingredients.' Danielle's post comes after she revealed she had undergone another operation after spotting an unusual mole on her torso that needed to be sent off for a biopsy. Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of her experience, revealing that while the procedure was quick and painless, she would have to wait two months to find out whether the mole was cancerous. Showing off the mole in her video, she explained: 'I t only looks small but it's definitely changed in colour and size.' Documenting her time in hospital, she confessed: 'I was a little bit apprehensive when I was waiting but then I was absolutely fine going in.' Showing off the markings on her stomach ahead of surgery, she added: 'I had to laugh because it looked like they'd drawn the evil eye on my belly.' Danielle then showed off her scar as she continued: 'When I got home I was a little bit sore and a little bit swollen but overall I'm just looking forward to getting some positive results.' She finished her video by urging her followers to ' know the signs [of skin cancer] and protect yourself from the sun'. While Danielle was praised by many for helping to spread awareness, the following morning she revealed that vile trolls had also commented on the post. She revealed she'd been branded: ' old, haggard, too thin, basically disgusting'. Hitting back on her Stories, she shared: 'I don't give a f**k if you think I look old, I'm 41, I'm not 20 no more. 'I've got five beautiful kids, I've got a lovely husband, I've got a lovely life. 'If you think I'm old and haggard then fine but your opinion does not matter to me... 'They're just weird, weird people, get a life.' Earlier this year Danielle revealed to her fans she had been diagnosed with skin cancer in an emotional post . Struggling to hold back the tears, the heartbroken star said: 'I don't really know how to say this and I didn't know whether to come on and say this but I feel like I have to raise awareness of this kind of thing happening to other people. 'Today I have been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer.' She urged: 'I just want to raise awareness for anyone who thinks they've got something funny on their body, they see a mole growing, which is not normal - please please please go to your doctor because honestly, you just never know.' The model went on to say that she'd been 'really shocked' by what she'd been told earlier in the day, but before going on to praise the Macmillan nurses at the hospital for their support.

Faye Winter tells of ‘terrifying' weeks before Love Island due to botched Botox
Reality TV star Faye Winter has said it was 'pretty terrifying' to be subject to botched Botox treatment in the weeks leading up to her stint on Love Island. It comes after Scottish and UK ministers announced plans to cut down on 'cowboy' cosmetic procedures by introducing new restrictions on who can access and provide treatments. Winter, 30, who appeared on the STV dating show in 2021, said the Government is taking 'a massive step in the right direction' and added that the NHS should not be covering the cost of corrective treatment for botched surgeries. Speaking about the weeks leading up to her Love Island appearance, she told STV's Good Morning Britain (GMB): 'It was pretty terrifying. I wanted to look a certain way. I wanted to look the best version of myself, knowing that I was going on national television. 'I went to somebody to do my Botox that I hadn't been to before, and he told me that he was medically trained. I believed him, as so many of us do. 'I later found out that he was a property developer, and he had put too much Botox into my forehead, meaning my full forehead just had nothing in it. I couldn't move it and it was fully relaxed. 'It was paralysed, and I literally had to wait it out, not knowing if it (the feeling) was or wasn't going to come back.' Winter explained that her forehead 'had relaxed' and that her eyelids and eyebrows had 'drooped'. The Scottish Government has said it will take steps to crack down on 'cowboy' Botox, fillers and cosmetic surgery procedures. The plans mean dermal fillers and the use of Botox will have to be supervised by a qualified healthcare professional, while 'breast and buttock augmentations' must be carried out by a qualified professional and won't be available to under 18s. The UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has also said that steps will be taken to protect people from 'rogue operators' with no medical training who often provide 'invasive' procedures in homes, hotels and pop-up clinics. The DHSC also said the move to introduce new restrictions will reduce the cost imposed on the NHS to fix botched procedures. Winter added: 'I think obviously it's a massive step in the right direction. This is only for four years I've been speaking about (it). 'So for the Government to even acknowledge it is amazing. But there's also parts of it that I do think, where they say, you know licences… what are they going to look like? 'Does somebody just need a passport number at a UK address and they still get a licence? We don't know what that quite looks like yet, and I think it's really important that we know those finer details.' Speaking on whether the NHS should pay for corrective treatments, she said: 'I don't think that we as taxpayers should be paying for that. I never asked anybody to pay for my correction work, and that was on me, and I had to learn the hard way.' Winter was on series seven of the STV dating show Love Island and was seen coupling up with Teddy Soares. Before the proposed regulations come into force, the Government has urged people seeking cosmetic procedures to ask for the provider's qualifications and insurance, and to be wary of 'suspiciously cheap' offers. It comes after health officials launched an investigation after a number of people had reactions to Botox injections earlier this year. Girl, 10, needs 13 holes drilled in skull for final bid to stop 700 seizures
Myla Ray, 10, has suffered from over 700 seizures and survived multiple surgeries, intensive care and being put in a coma - doctors will now put 13 electrodes in her head in a last-attempt operation A brave 10-year-old girl is set to have 13 holes drilled into her skull in a desperate last-ditch operation after suffering with more than 700 seizures. Myla Ray has suffered from seizures since she was just four years old due to a rare brain malformation called Cortical Dysplasia and drug-resistant epilepsy. The young girl, from Kirkcaldy, Scotland, is due to have 13 electrodes drilled into her skull by medics at Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, on August 13. Myla's dad, Scottish MMA star Steven Ray, has called his little girl "the real fighter in the family" ahead of her last-attempt operation. It comes after a schoolboy, 13, had both legs amputated after 'getting a cramp' at a sports camp. 'I thought I had anxiety before seizure - now I have incurable diagnosis' Myla has had to undergo multiple operations, surviving intensive care and being put in a coma all before her 11th birthday as part of her fight against the relentless seizures. Her dad said: "She's only 10 years old and she's already went through way more than I have my whole life." Doctors diagnosed Myla with frontal lobe epilepsy and later found a malformation in her brain called cortical dysplasia - a condition that began before birth. She had part of her brain removed in May 2023, but the seizures returned, according to the Daily Record. This final desperate attempt to help Myla will see doctors try and trigger a seizure to reveal exactly which area of her brain needs to be treated or removed. Surgeons will insert 13 rods into her brain and the young Scot will be monitored for a week in a bid to identify the exact seizure source. If no seizure happens naturally, her medication will be stopped, increasing the risk of a coma or even death. Mum, Natalie said: "If we don't do it, the seizures will keep getting worse and it could kill her. "They told us the medication was no longer working. We were told if we don't go ahead with this next operation, there's a high probability of death as she's drug resistant." Natalie added: "They've talked us through everything that could go wrong. She could have a heart attack, a stroke or they could hit a blood vessel, but at this point it's our only option." Myla's condition has also taken a toll on her development and has left the ten-year-old with the brain capacity of a four-year-old. The youngster doesn't understand days, weeks or danger, and often uses a wheelchair when her mobility is affected. Despite it all, Natalie appreciates the better days, saying: "I'm so thankful for the days she's going about laughing." Back in 2023, before Myla's first surgery, her parents turned to fundraising to pay for private care as NHS wait times grew too long. The campaign went viral, attracting donations from around the world - including a £1,000 contribution from Outlander star Sam Heughan and a staggering £10,000 from UFC president Dana White. Steven launched the GoFundMe alongside Natalie which smashed the initial £100,000 target, eventually reaching over £110,000. Should the procedure be a success, Myla is likely to face more brain surgery potentially by the end of the year. The family are staying strong even as they face terrifying possibilities. Natalie added: "We've been told the odds; it's basically 50/50 whether she'll be able to have another operation after this one. But at this point we will try anything."
