Ed Sheeran launches exhibition of his Cosmic Carpark Paintings in London
Sheeran said: 'I started painting at the end of my Divide Tour in 2019 and it's something that I've used as a creative outlet ever since.
'When I was growing up, both of my parents worked in art, so I've naturally always been interested in it, and I always enjoyed studying art at school. I was back and forth on tour last year, and I used a lot of my downtime in the UK to paint.
'I'd run to a disused car park in Soho each morning, paint, then run home and I'd do that daily until I headed back out on tour again.
'I told my good friends Damien Hirst and Joe Hage about the paintings, and they encouraged me to put on my own thing.
'So I decided I'd use it as a way of raising funds for my Ed Sheeran Foundation, which supports music education in the UK and helps fund grassroot music projects, schools and equipment, so all kids have access to music.
'I want to thank Damien and Joe for everything they've done for me on this exhibition and I'm delighted to be putting it on.'
In 2020, one of the Shape Of You singer's paintings was used as the single cover for his track Afterglow, with his latest collection being painted in a disused car park in London last year.
The paintings were initially designed to be gifted to the Halifax-born star's friends and family, however artist Hirst encouraged him to put on an exhibition to raise money for his foundation, giving the public their first chance to own his artwork.
Some 50% of the net sale price from each painting will be donated to the Ed Sheeran Foundation, with the works available on the Heni website between July 10 and August 1.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
Sheeran has had 14 UK number one singles and eight UK number one albums, his best known songs include The A Team, Lego House, Sing, and Don't.

The veteran performer is continuing on the Outlaw Music Festival tour in the United States, and his recent appearance in New York has startled some attendees. The Duluth-born songwriter spent his formative years in New York, and returned for a performance yesterday (August 1). Whether it was Dylan, who is set to perform in the UK later this year, or long-serving bandmate and bass guitarist Tony Garnier was up for debate in a thread posted to X, where fans were delighted by the abnormal transport choice. The original post to X reads: "BOB IN A BOAT." A zoomed-in video was shared to the social media platform, with a man in black attire and wearing a hat seen boarding the vessel, which headed straight for the stage. Dylan's performance in Wantagh, New York, was hosted near the coast and it seems travelling to and from the stage required a change from the usual tour bus. Instead, a boat brought the artists to the stage, and people believe they spotted Dylan, or one of his bandmates, on the way to the show. Fans were delighted to see the clip, with one writing: "Brings me so much joy to see Bob in a boat. Thank you." Another added: "Yes, I saw that! Yes, he was with Tony headed to the stage at Jones Beach. Great show!" A third shared: "Oh my God, I hope he's having fun." Others were left wondering if it was Dylan's long-time collaborator, Tony Garnier, headed to the stage. One fan wrote: "Could be Tony." Welsh rock legend Dave Edmunds seriously ill in hospital after cardiac arrest
Welsh musician Dave Edmunds is gravely ill in intensive care following a cardiac arrest, according to his wife. The Cardiff-born performer, aged 81, reportedly died before being brought back to life, the Express reported. His spouse of 40 years, Cecilia Edmunds, known as Cici, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook describing the terrifying ordeal at their Rockfield home in Monmouthshire. Cici explained how she fought to "keep him alive" whilst a nurse administered "heavy CPR" on Dave at their residence. Cici recalled the nurse's devastating words: "Cici I'm gonna stop. Dave is gone. He is dead." Cici says she refused to give up on her husband and asked fans to send prayers and messages of support for Dave, who is critically ill in hospital. She revealed that he has suffered significant brain damage and memory loss, and is at a "high risk" of experiencing another cardiac arrest. She said: "I'm still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience. My brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many peoples prayers and good wishes so to speak." "Thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me. Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. "But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always." Fans have been sending their best wishes and support.
