Ebbw Vale and Newport eyeing Super Rygbi Cymru final

Ebbw will face Llandovery at Eugene Cross Park for a place in the final after staging a major second half comeback to overcome Carmarthen Quins 45-35.
The Drovers secured their passage in the semis after eventually overcoming Pooler 39-20 after a tense clash at Church Bank.
Meanwhile Cardiff, who beat Bridgend 31-19, stand in the way of Newport and another final.
The Black and Ambers will now go to the Arms Park after coming from behind to beat Aberavon 40-25.
The Wizards had a wind advantage in the first half at Newport Stadium and led 13-5, but that lead had been cut to just a point by the break.
Second half tries from Jac Lloyd, Iestyn Galton and quickfire brace from centre Dai Richards added to first half scores from Lloyd Lewis and Dafydd Buckland to book the Black and Ambers a spot in the last four. Lloyd converted five of the six tries.
Felix Gilbert, Luke Davies, Rhys Thomas and Ashton Evans scored for Aberavon, with Ed Dunford adding five points from the tee.
Newport played half of the second period a man light with scrum-half Buckland and then second row Max Williams in the sin bin, but it didn't prove costly.
Head coach Ty Morris said: 'It was a beautiful day but the wind was gusting right down the field and we were against it first half.
'We made some errors that probably allowed Aberavon to build pressure on us, but we were quite pleased going in only a point behind at half time because of the strength of the wind.
'We felt it was a minimum of a 10-point lead and I'm sure Aberavon would have been disappointed to have only been 13-12 up.
'Our discipline needs to be looked at with the yellow cards but, credit to the guys, we still managed to score 21 points down to 14 men which saw the game off and we scored some lovely tries to finish.'
With Cardiff next up, Morris added: 'We don't fear anyone, home or away, and we know at our best we can beat anyone in the league.
'We've already gone down to Cardiff previously and done that, but what we also know is that, every time we play Cardiff, it's always an arm wrestle.
'We know what to expect; they're a quality team with some quality coaches and we're looking forward to what will be a massive challenge.'
Ebbw also had to come from behind in their quarter-final against Carmarthen.
Despite being huge underdogs Quins threw down the gauntlet to the Steelmen – with three first half tries from Louis Rees, Jac Howells and Lucca Setaro to take a 10-point lead into the break.
Ifan Davies opened the scoring for the visitors with a penalty and then converted all three tries.
Ebbw hit back with a rolling maul try from skipper Joe Franchi with Evan Lloyd converted and then picked up a penalty try.
A try from Canadian international Sion Parry cut the gap to three points at the start of the second half before Davies added another penalty.
Then came two more trademark tries from Franchi to complete his hat-trick.
Scrum-half Gruff Tough then raced clear and Lloyd's goal kicking pushed the home side into a 12-point lead. Setaro grabbed a second for Quins, but a final Lloyd penalty sealed the deal.
Ebbw head coach Jason Strange said: 'The players once again showed a real good spirit.
'Even though our accuracy was off at times, that togetherness they showed was fantastic – and it sets us up now for another semi-final.'
The win also means another clash between Ebbw and Llandovery – who finished second and fourth respectively in the table at the end of the regular SRC season – at Eugene Cross Park this weekend with a place in the final at stake.
The Steelmen are unbeaten at home all season and were victorious over the Drovers home and away which included wrestling the SRC Challenger Shield from Llandovery's grasp.
However Llandovery, Premiership league and cup double winners last year, dominated Ebbw in the final of this season's SRC Cup, winning 39-7. Euros Evans' side were also ruthless in putting Ebbw away 43-7 in their Premiership Cup semi-final last season.
'I think whenever you lose any game, particularly in semi-finals and finals, you always try and take learnings from them,' added Strange.
'We're under no illusions; it's going to take a top performance but it's a challenge that everyone associated with the club are really excited about.'
Pontypool fell just short against Llandovery although, in truth, the final result was harsh on Pooler, with only late tries from Harri Doel and Garan Williams making the gap look bigger than it was.
Doel also scored in the first half with Morgan Jones, Jamie Hughes and Jac Davies also on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Scott Matthews and Rhodri Cole scored for Pooler, both converted by Harri Ford – who also kicked two penalties.
Only trailing 17-13 at the turnaround, Pooler thought they had scored again on the hour when Matthews released replacement hooker Connor Chapman – but it was ruled out by the TMO after Matthews was adjudged offside at the breakdown.

Panthers win, 5-4, Game 2 against Oilers in double OT to tie Stanley Cup series 1-1

EDMONTON, Alberta — Brad Marchand scored on a breakaway in double overtime and the defending champion Florida Panthers punched back against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of their Stanley Cup Final rematch, winning 5-4 on Friday night to even the series. Marchand's second goal of the night 8:04 into the second OT allowed Florida to escape with a split after Corey Perry scored to tie it with 17.8 seconds left in the third period and Stuart Skinner pulled for an extra attacker. Each of the first two games this final have gone to overtime, for the first time since 2014 and just the sixth in NHL history. Much like last year and the playoff run to this point, Sergei Bobrovsky was dialed in when he was needed the most, making some unreal saves while stopping 42 of the 46 shots he faced. His teammates provided the necessary goal support. How to watch the Stanley Cup Final The Florida Panthers won Game 2 in double OT, 5-4, over the Oilers to tie the best-of-7 series 1-1 Friday night in Edmonton. The teams will head to Sunrise, Florida, for Game 3, which starts at 8 p.m. ET on Monday. A possible Game 7 would be June 20 in Edmonton. Eight of the 24 finals this century have gone the distance. All games will be carried in the United States on TNT and truTV and streamed on Max. A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup Final since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens. Edmonton is a -125/+105 series favorite over Florida in Las Vegas. Along with Marchand, Sam Bennett scored his postseason-leading 13th goal and NHL record 12th on the road. Seth Jones scored into a wide-open net after some spectacular tic-tac-toe passing, and fellow defenseman Dmitry Kulikov tied it with a shot through traffic that Stuart Skinner almost certainly did not see. Kulikov's goal came after Florida controlled play for several minutes in the second, hemming Edmonton in its zone shift after shift and piling up a 34-13 advantage in shot attempts during the period. Marchand's OT goal was his 10th career goal in the final to lead all active players. Game 3 is Monday night as the teams traverse the continent and play shifts to Sunrise. The Panthers wrested home-ice advantage away from the Oilers by splitting the first two, rebounding from a Game 1 overtime loss and asserting they won't go quietly against Draisaitl and Connor McDavid looking like they'll do everything in their power to hoist the Cup for the first time. Of course, those stars had their moments. They assisted on Evan Bouchard's goal when coach Kris Knoblauch put them on the ice together, and McDavid stickhandled through multiple defenders in highlight-reel fashion to set up Draisaitl scoring on the power play. There were a lot of those — 10 in total — after officials whistled 14 penalties, including three in the first four minutes. Each team had a few calls it was not happy with, though most of that evened out over the course of the game.

Wales 3-0 Liechtenstein: Craig Bellamy's side go top of World Cup qualifying group - but suffer huge injury blow in the process

Joe Rodon's first international goal helped Wales overcome minnows Liechtenstein but manager Craig Bellamy suffered an injury blow before Monday's crunch World Cup qualifier against Belgium with Neco Williams carried off on a stretcher. Rodon's thumping header at the end of the first half pacified Welsh frustrations who had until then encountered visiting goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel in inspired form. Second half goals from Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore gave the scoreline a fairer reflection but while Bellamy's side now head to Brussels as Group J leaders, there will be concern over Nottingham Forest defender Williams who landed awkwardly on his ankle after 20 minutes and left the pitch in pain. The FIFA rankings suggested a one-sided affair at the Cardiff City stadium with only five countries considered worse than Liechtenstein in 205th. Bellamy's unbeaten record in charge was never likely to be threatened but Buchel kept the game goalless for 39 minutes by pulling off fantastic stops to deny Brennan Johnson, Ethan Ampadu and Moore. Liechtenstein contested the corner that broke the deadlock but Sorba Thomas capitalised with an excellent delivery for Leeds United's Rodon to power home on his 53rd appearance for his country. It was Williams' replacement Jay Dasilva who set up the second Wales goal after 65 minutes. His pinpoint cross from the left was headed in by Wilson who was back on familiar territory having spent a season on loan for Cardiff from Liverpool. Three minutes later, Moore was able to bag in his 14th international goal, tapping home after a shot by substitute David Brooks had been parried by Buchel. Liechtenstein are winless in 44 World Cup qualifiers and failed to register a shot at goal with their 20% possession. With the points in the bag, Bellamy was able to withdraw key men Johnson, Thomas and Wilson to keep them fresh for Belgium who are favourites to take their only automatic qualifying spot and opened their campaign last night in North Macedonia. Wales also hope to have Leeds winger Dan James available if he continues his recovery from illness. Tottenham's Ben Davies is tipped to continue as captain and should win his 96th cap.
