Updated Big Ten men's basketball tournament bracket, schedule entering title game
The final matchup of the 2025 Big Ten Tournament is set.
Wisconsin punched its ticket with a thrilling 77-74 win over No. 1-seed Michigan State. Star wing John Tonje scored 32 key points in the winning effort, plus sealed the triumph with an unbelievable block on a Spartans buzzer-beater three-point attempt. The game was a classic heavyweight fight by arguably the conference's two best teams. The Badgers prevailed with key plays down the stretch, including baskets from John Blackwell and Carter Gilmore, free throws from Tonje and the mentioned big block. Wisconsin will play in the Big Ten Tournament final for the second consecutive year after it fell to Illinois in the game last season.
The Badgers' opponent: the No. 2-seed Michigan Wolverines. Dusty May's team edged Maryland 81-80 in the semifinal, thanks to a buzzer-beater layup from guard Tre Donaldson. Star forward Danny Wolf again led the Wolverines, this time with 21 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. Center Vladislav Goldin also pitched in a key 25-point, 10-rebound double-double. Michigan out-rebounded Maryland 47 to 18. It needed a last-second basket largely due to 19 turnovers -- Maryland scored 29 points off those mistakes.
Michigan defeated Wisconsin 67-64 on December 3 in their only matchup of the regular season. Sunday's rematch will carry significant stakes, as Wisconsin looks to record four wins in as many days en route to a tournament title.

Duke agrees to home-and-home with HBCU power

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State Director of Athletics Dr. Melody Webb and head women's basketball coach Jermaine Woods have reached an agreement for a home-and-home series with nationally ranked Duke, bringing a major HBCU matchup to life over the next two seasons. The Spartans will travel to Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 12, 2025. The following season, the Blue Devils will make their first-ever visit to Echols Hall. Tipoff times for both games will be announced later. 'This is a landmark moment for our women's basketball program and our university,' Webb said. 'Hosting a nationally ranked team like Duke highlights our commitment to raising the profile of Norfolk State Athletics. It also provides our student-athletes and fans with a chance to experience top-tier competition on our campus.' The two programs have met only once before. In 2002, Duke defeated Norfolk State 95-48 in the NCAA Tournament's first round, shortly after NSU won its first MEAC Tournament Championship. The 2026 visit by Duke will be the first time an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent plays at Norfolk State, marking a historic milestone for the HBCU. The Blue Devils finished last season 29-8 and reached the Elite Eight, ending the year ranked No. 7 nationally. 'I appreciate Coach Kara Lawson's willingness to set up this series,' Woods said. 'Collaborations like this help HBCUs gain national visibility. Her return to Norfolk will benefit our program, university, and the community.' Norfolk State enters the 2025-26 season after winning its third consecutive MEAC Tournament title and earning a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament - the program's highest seeding to date. Texas A&M Faces Setback as star Utility player enters the transfer portal

Texas A&M Faces Setback as star Utility player enters the transfer portal The transfer portal has struck the Texas A&M softball team once again. This time, however, it involves a major contributor expected to play a key leadership role. On Friday afternoon, in a shocking announcement, starting utility player Amari Harper entered her name into the softball transfer portal. The junior was a key contributor all season, routinely delivering clutch hits and showing emerging power by knocking out crucial home runs. While the Aggies have a deep roster and should be able to fill the void, Harper's departure is still a significant loss, especially if head coach Trisha Ford can't find a way to bring her back next season. Every athlete has their reasons for entering the portal, and even though this move is surprising, players must do what they believe is best for their future. Entering the portal doesn't necessarily mean Harper is leaving, but in today's NIL landscape, anything is possible.
