Digvesh Rathi faces one-match suspension, Abhishek Sharma penalised after heated exchange during LSG vs SRH match
Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi has been suspended for one match following a heated exchange with Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma during Monday's match between the two teams. This is Rathi's third code of conduct violation; he had previously been fined for his extravagant celebrations. Meanwhile, Sharma has also been penalised 25% of his match fees as this is his first IPL code of conduct violation this season.
According to the BCCI, Rathi will be unavailable to play in the Lucknow Super Giants' next match against the Gujarat Titans, and will also lose 50% of his match fees.
"This was his third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season and hence, he has accumulated Two Demerit Points, in addition to Three Demerit Points he had accumulated earlier - One Demerit Point against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025 and Two Demerit Points against Mumbai Indians on April 04, 2025." a BCCI release on Rathi's suspension read.
"As he now has Five Demerit Points this season - which result in a one-game suspension - Digvesh will now be suspended for LSG's next game - against Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025 in Ahmedabad." it further read.
There was a heated exchange between Rathi and Sharma after the spinner dismissed the SRH batter during the eighth over of the match. Sharma had already caused significant damage by then with his 59-run knock (off 20 balls), but Rathi's signature notebook celebration as he walked back to the pavilion caused Sharma to lose his cool. The two players exchanged a few words and their argument looked heated before the umpires eventually stepped in.
However, the matter didn't end there, as Abhishek Sharma could be seen having a lengthy discussion with LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya during the post-match handshakes. Shortly afterwards, Abhishek and Digvesh could be seen exchanging a few more words before Dahiya asked Abhishek to move on.

Bengaluru stampede: What police said about complaint against Virat Kohli
A complaint has been filed against cricketer Virat Kohli, a member of the RCB squad, at Bengaluru's Cubbon Park Police Station over the June 4 stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left 11 dead and dozens injured. Police sources, however, said no FIR has been registered so far. The complainant, social activist HM Venkatesh, alleged Kohli was promoting 'gambling through IPL,' claiming it incited the large crowd that triggered the tragedy. Police, quoted by news agency ANI, said the complaint against Kohli would be considered under the existing case and reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. In his complaint, social activist HM Venkatesh claimed the Indian Premier League (IPL) is 'not a sport but a gambling that has contaminated the game of cricket.' 'Virat Kohli of the Bangalore RCB team is the most prominent among those who participated in such gambling and incited people to gather in a specific place and caused this tragedy. Therefore, we request you to please make Virat Kohli and his team members accused in the FIR of this tragedy and take action,' Venkatesh said in his complaint. A Bengaluru Sessions Court on Friday remanded four people, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede incident. The four were arrested during a joint operation by the Cubbon Park police and Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6. Meanwhile, the Karnataka high court granted interim relief to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) office bearers who had sought to quash the FIR filed against them over the stampede. In its interim order, the High Court directed state police not to take any coercive action against them until further notice. The case has been adjourned to June 9. KSCA President Raghu Ram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar, Treasurer ES Jairam, and other officials had moved the High Court seeking to have the FIR quashed. Nikhil Sosale also moved the Karnataka high court, challenging his arrest and claiming it was made without proper evidence or a preliminary enquiry. He has sought to have the arrest declared illegal. On Thursday, Bengaluru police registered an FIR against the RCB franchise, DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on charges of culpable homicide, illegal assembly, and other serious offences, following the stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's IPL victory celebrations. RCB and event management officials were arrested in a joint operation by the crime branch and Bengaluru Police, and produced in court under tight security after a medical checkup. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah had directed the state's DGP and IGP to arrest RCB representatives, event managers, and KSCA officials, citing prima facie 'irresponsibility' and 'carelessness' on their part. In the aftermath of the stampede, the Karnataka police suspended several senior officers, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash, DCP (Central) Shekhar HT, ACP Balakrishna, and Cubbon Park Police Inspector Girish AK. Days after a stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory celebration at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium left 11 people dead and dozens injured, two top officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stepped down, taking moral responsibility for the tragedy, Indian Express reported. According to the report, on Saturday, KSCA Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer E S Jairam announced their resignations in a joint statement, just a day after both KSCA and RCB moved the Karnataka High Court over FIRs filed in connection with the June 4 incident. The development comes amid growing legal and political fallout from the stampede that occurred during a felicitation event celebrating RCB's maiden IPL title win. The Karnataka High Court, which took suo motu cognisance of the incident on Thursday, has directed the state government to submit a status report by June 10. The court also granted interim protection from arrest to KSCA officials, provided they fully cooperate with the police investigation. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident on Friday, including Nikhil Sosale, head of marketing at RCB, and three representatives of DNA Entertainment Private Limited — Sunil Mathew, Sumanth, and Kiran Kumar. The arrests were made at Kempegowda International Airport as the four allegedly attempted to leave the city. All four were later remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
