Katie Piper, 41, heartbreakingly reveals how emergency surgery forced her to give up desire to have a third child

Daily Mail26-04-2025

Katie Piper has emotionally revealed how she had to give up on her dream to have a third child because of an emergency operation.
The TV presenter, 41, is a mother to two daughters - Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven - and revealed she and her husband Richard Sutton tried for a third child.
She said spending a mother with jailed mums in New Orleans Parish Prison - while filming TV show Locked Up - made her want to try for a third baby, after hearing heartbreaking stories from prisoners who were missing their children.
She told The Mirror: 'It started to make me think, 'This is my last chance to have another baby, I'm going to be 40. And if I don't do it now, I never will.'
Shortly before her 40th birthday, Katie and Richard started trying to have another child before she had to undergo an emergency surgery on her eye.
Katie had to go under general anaesthetic for the operation on her left eye - which was damaged in a horrific acid attack in 2008, orchestrated by a man she briefly dated.
'I had to have a general anaesthetic and you can't be trying for a baby and also be having unexpected surgeries,' Katie explained.
'So that scuppered that and we had a break. We tried again, but it just didn't happen.'
Katie considered IVF, but after enduring over 250 operations since the 2008 acid attack, she couldn't face more hospital appointments or the emotional toll if it didn't work, so reluctantly gave up the dream of having a third child.
However, Katie still felt something was missing, so, Katie started volunteering at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where she adopted an adorable puppy.
She began volunteering and dog walking while still trying for a baby, and the decision to get a dog came naturally.
She added that her friend Alison helped her to pick the right dog for her family – a female half cockapoo puppy called Sugar with a calm temperament.
Katie's life was changed forever when she was attacked with acid aged just 24 back in 2008 her ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch and accomplice Stefan Sylvestre in 2008.
Katie, who had been dating Daniel for just two weeks, was brutally raped by the steroid-fuelled martial arts expert in a hotel room when she tried to leave their relationship in March that year.
He then obsessively stalked her before ordering then 19-year-old Stefan to throw sulphuric acid on her face, leaving her with severe burns and in need of 400 operations.
Daniel received a life sentence with a minimum term of 16 years after being convicted of rape, GBH and ABH at Wood Green Crown Court in 2009.
His co-conspirator, Stefan, who threw the acid at Katie, admitted GBH and was given a life sentence with a minimum term of six years.
He was released in 2018 but was recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions. Police have since said they believe he has fled the country.
Despite her traumatic experience, Katie regularly volunteers in women's prisons and believes in the power of rehabilitation.
Locked Up In Louisiana, her latest TV show, follows her meeting women imprisoned or awaiting trial for murder.
It follows her previous documentary, Jailhouse Mums, which explored motherhood behind bars.
Katie noted that gun violence and violence against women are rampant, with many women facing 'shoot or be shot' situations.

However, until February 2027, the taxman will take 40% of this as part of her first bankruptcy order. Speaking about her raunchy account on Katherine Ryan's podcast, What's My Age Again, Katie revealed that she often gets feedback from her daughter. She told the Canadian comedian: "I show Princess and she's like, 'mum, that's so good, that picture'. This and that. "This is what's funny about Princess. This is probably why we get on.' She went on: "She does her days where she goes out and does her pictures for her Instagram and she's like, mum, can you get eight outfits for me? I said, what, your clothes? "No, your clothes. I went, why do you want to use my clothes? Because your style, you do it better. So, she uses my clothes for her Instagram pictures." Katie recently revealed that she had been encouraging Princess to sign up for Love Island. Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast The Katie Price Show, she said: 'I keep saying to Princess, 'why don't you do Love Island?'' Revealing her response, Katie continued: ''No… because otherwise I'll be known as a Love Islander'. I said, 'No you won't, everyone knows you anyway'.' "They just grew apart - they were each other's first love so it has been tough but there are no hard feelings. "He's still on good terms with both Katie and Peter. "Princess is really concentrating on her career right now and there's no place for a man.' Princess' ex has unfollowed her on social media but does still follow all of her family members. It's been a week of highs and lows for Princess, who revealed she'd passed her driving test and showed off her £10,000 car. She proudly declared in the caption: 'I bought my first car' but was hit with criticism by fans, who believe it was actually mum and dad Katie and Peter Andre who actually forked out the cash for it. But Princess has now put that speculation to bed, hitting back at the comments and declaring: 'These comments are so funny. "To everyone out there, yes I work and yes I earn my own money which I'm super proud of and so thankful that I'm lucky enough to buy my own car xx."

More info Katie Price put on a dazzling performance on stage Saturday (June 7) as she wowed fans at Portsmouth Pride. Performing her songs including 'A Whole New World' - her past duet with ex-husband Peter Andre, Katie Price was joined on the bill by stars including Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, Sabrina Washington of Mis-Teeq fame, and Ella Morgan – notably linked to Price's beau, JJ Slater from Married At First Sight. Donning a risqué black bodysuit paired with a glittery hat spelling out 'PRICEY', Katie was a showstopper, flaunting her iconic assets and recently plumped up behind after undergoing a filler procedure she broadcasted live on social media in May. Yet as clips from her set made it to TikTok, users of the platform couldn't help but remark on her slender figure. On X, meanwhile, others voicing their concerns, including one person who declared: "I'm worried about Katie Price." While another simply reacted: "Oh dear." And echoing those sentiments, a third X user reflected: "I feel sorry for her, as it doesn't look like she has people around her that have her best interest at heart, by giving her sound advice. It's not funny, it's horrible." It's not the first time social media users have shown concern for the mum-of-five in recent times. In January this year, one tweeted: "Katie Price just popped up on my Instagram and I am so concerned. Maybe she's been like this for a while but is anyone looking out for her? She looks so unwell." It comes after fans admitted they were concerned over Katie's "frailty" earlier this year, after she shared her video of herself in a tracksuit. "Her friends and family are worried about her as she has lost a lot of weight very quickly, and she wants to go back under the knife for more work," a source told OK! at the time. The source elaborated: "She wants to have her ears corrected and her bum lifted with filler, but people who care about her are worried that she's not healthy or strong enough to be going on an operating table." (Image: Paul Jacobs/ Despite such concerns, Katie went through with enhancing her posterior in May. In a candid Snapchat update that same month, Katie addressed her followers about her weight loss - explaining that it had been wholly intentional after a foot injury and IVF attempts had led to weight gain. "Yes, I've lost weight," she confirmed. "Yes, that's what I've wanted to do, I've wanted to lose weight. Because the past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I'd never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair. "And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah I did put on weight and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable and it wasn't me." Meanwhile, in a conversation with Olivia Attwood on her So Wrong It's Right podcast last summer, Katie admitted she thought she had body dysmorphia – a mental health disorder characterised by an individual's fixation on perceived defects in their appearance. Katie voiced her intention to have more cosmetic procedures because she'd "never thought she was pretty."

A fan shared screenshots of his Hinge profile, revealing the reality TV villain is now looking for a 'long-term relationship' but is 'open to short.' 4 Mafs star Tim Gromie has joined Hinge - and was accused of catfishing with his pics Credit: Reddit 4 Tim married bubbly business owner Katie on the show Credit: Nine 4 Fans slammed Tim after he brutally rejected his beautiful bride and 'fat shamed' her Credit: Channel 4 His profile lists him as working in education, attending Monash University, and living in Melbourne. Photos show him at the beach with pals, and attending a basketball game and a footie match. But his profile left some questioning his photos on Reddit. "Look who sent me a like on Hinge," the fan captioned her post. 'Katie girl, I hope I've avenged you a tiny bit.' In the last pic on her post, she revealed she wrote back to Tim on Hinge, and said: 'That beer belly is still very much real though.' The post sparked mixed reactions from fans of the show. One Reddit user commented: 'Still shopping those 10-year-old photos around I see.' However another said the post went too far, and defended Tim, saying: 'I think it's quite cruel posting his private stuff on here… treat others as you'd like to be treated.' A third added: 'Bro is still catfishing with his photos.' MAFS Australia fans stunned as groom makes shock return to commitment ceremony despite early exit Tim drew widespread backlash during his short-lived MAFS stint for making critical comments about Katie's appearance, stating he preferred 'petite women.' Despite the bride's best efforts, straight after they had said "I do", unbeknownst to her, her groom stormed off. He was then seen shouting at producers, claiming Katie was "not what he asked for". Tim was accused of 'gaslighting' Katie after claiming he was making the most effort, which saw her apologise to him before he left the party after being grilled by other brides. According to Tim's groomsman Luke Stapleton, the controversy resulted in the reality star losing his job as a teacher. Speaking on the So Dramatic! podcast, he said: "Where he was working was already concerned [about Tim's MAFS appearance prior to filming]." Following the backlash, Tim deleted social media, and he is yet to confirm whether he will return to his job as a primary school teacher. FAKE ROW It also emerged that the groom was using a "fake name" on the show. An eagle-eyed fan decided to do some digging into Tim's life, and has now revealed his true identity. "I just did a deep dive on Tim on MAFS and there is something really weird going on. Before the show began Channel Nine put up contestant bios for everyone featured,' the vlogger said on TikTok. "Tim was there, but he was listed as Tim Andrews. Nine updated the bios and we can see the difference in the lingering Google data. The TikToker added that Tim's career in teaching would mean he would be registered on the Victorian Teachers Registry. But when they looked, there was not a Tim Gromie listed, but a Timothy Andrews was. "He must be registered, but I looked it up and no Tim Gromie appears. But when I put in Timothy Andrews someone does appear! Weird, right? It's all just a bit off, like what is this guy trying to hide?' she added. It's now emerged that Tim chose to use an alias on the show to "protect his teaching job". "He was really concerned about how being on the show would affect his career," a source told Daily Mail Australia.
