Katie Piper shows off her new glass eye in remarkable before and after shots after travelling to Hamburg for pioneering treatment
Katie Piper revealed she was 'entering a new era' on Wednesday after travelling to Germany for pioneering cosmetic treatment on her defective eye. The TV presenter was left with devastating facial injuries in 2008 following a sulphuric acid attack orchestrated by former boyfriend Daniel Lynch and carried out by his accomplice Stefan Sylvestre. She has since undergone numerous painstaking surgical procedures, including treatment to break down her extensive scar tissue and reduce skin contraction. Travelling to Hamburg for her latest, Piper, 41, visited the Institute for Artificial Eyes - a new, family owned business devoted to the provision of glass and plastic eye prostheses. Taking to Instagram, the presenter - who was accompanied by husband Richard Sutton - shared a highlights reels of her trip, including before and after shots of her eye, both with and without its glass prosthesis. Evidently delighted with the results, Piper praised the clinic and its pioneering work in an Instagram post, with the accompanying caption: 'Entering a new era. Feeling empowered by the delicate and meticulous work by The Weinder Brothers on my new glass prosthetic eye shell.' According to its website, the Weinder owned clinic endeavours to 'restore facial harmony' and aid the patient's patient's 'physical and psychological rehabilitation' by crafting and fitting each prosthesis based on the individual's wants and needs. Piper's recent trip to Hamburg comes after she admitted to giving up her dream of having a third child because of an emergency operation. The presenter claimed said spending time jailed mums in New Orleans Parish Prison while filming TV show Locked Up made her want to try for a third baby, after hearing heartbreaking stories from lags who were missing their children. She told The Mirror: 'It started to make me think, 'This is my last chance to have another baby, I'm going to be 40. And if I don't do it now, I never will.' Piper had to go under general anaesthetic for the operation on her left eye - which was damaged in a horrific acid attack in 2008, orchestrated by a man she briefly dated. 'I had to have a general anaesthetic and you can't be trying for a baby and also be having unexpected surgeries,' she explained. 'So that scuppered that and we had a break. We tried again, but it just didn't happen.' Piper considered IVF, but after enduring over 250 operations since the 2008 acid attack, she couldn't face more hospital appointments or the emotional toll if it didn't work, so reluctantly gave up the dream of having a third child. However, she still felt something was missing, so, started volunteering at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where she adopted a puppy. She began volunteering and dog walking while still trying for a baby, and the decision to get a dog came naturally. She added that her friend Alison helped her to pick the right dog for her family – a female half cockapoo puppy called Sugar with a calm temperament. Piper's life was changed forever when she was attacked with acid aged just 24 back in 2008 her ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch and accomplice Stefan Sylvestre in 2008. The presenter, who had been dating Daniel for just two weeks, was brutally raped by the steroid-fuelled martial arts expert in a hotel room when she tried to leave their relationship in March that year. She is a mother to two daughters - Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven - with husband Richard, who she married in 2015.

Katie Piper reveals heartbreaking baby decision after surgery
Katie Piper has revealed that an emergency surgery has forced her to give up her desire to have a third child. The 41-year-old presenter and activist suffered life-long injuries after an acid attack back in 2008. Since then, the presenter has tirelessly fought to raise awareness about facial disfigurements and tell her story. While filming her new TV show Locked Up, the Loose Women star spent time with a jailed mothers at New Orleans' Parish Prison. She explained that the experience made her want to try for a third baby with husband Richard Sutton after hearing the heartbreaking stories about prisoners who are missing their children. Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Katie revealed: 'So many women missed their kids [in prison]. 'It started to make me think, 'This is my last chance to have another baby, I'm going to be 40. And if I don't do it now, I never will.' 'I was turning 40 in the October so I said to my husband, 'If we want another baby, let's do it now,' and we started trying.' However, Katie was then rushed into hospital for an emergency operation on her eye. The campaigner told the publication: 'You can't be trying for a baby and also be having unexpected surgeries. 'So that scuppered that and we had a break. We tried again, but it just didn't happen.' Katie considered IVF, but after enduring over 250 operations since the 2008 acid attack, she couldn't face more hospital appointments. 'My eye surgery made me realise I don't want to do IVF,' she explained. 'I'm done with medical things and hospitals. I didn't think it would be good for me.' Katie recently revealed she suffered vile abuse from prisoners while filming the upcoming series, telling Radio Times: 'I go in with lived experience – as a woman, a mother, a daughter, a victim of crime. Some of my story is worn on my face. 'That was an advantage and meant the women probably trusted me, but some of them shouted stuff like, 'Hey lady, are you addicted to Botox?' or 'Slow down on the plastic surgery.' They didn't know what had happened to me.' She added: 'We're all one bad day away from being locked up. You don't know what's going to happen to you in life and who's going to harm you – and how you're going to react when somebody harms you.' The presenter's ex-boyfriend, martial arts expert Daniel Lynch, received a life sentence in 2009 with a minimum of 16 years for instructing Stefan Sylvestre to throw acid on her. He then obsessively stalked her before ordering then 19-year-old Stefan to throw sulphuric acid on her face, leaving her with severe burns and in need of 400 operations. Daniel received a life sentence with a minimum term of 16 years after being convicted of rape, GBH and ABH at Wood Green Crown Court in 2009. His co-conspirator, Stefan, who threw the acid at Katie, admitted GBH and was given a life sentence with a minimum term of six years. He was released in 2018 but was recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions. Police have since said they believe he has fled the country. Despite her traumatic experience, Katie regularly volunteers in women's prisons and believes in the power of rehabilitation. Locked Up In Louisiana, her latest TV show, follows her meeting women imprisoned or awaiting trial for murder. It follows her previous documentary, Jailhouse Mums, which explored motherhood behind bars. Katie noted that gun violence and violence against women are rampant, with many women facing 'shoot or be shot' situations.

Sam Hunt Avoids Charges After Reported Arrest for Alleged Speeding, Anti-DUI Device Violation
Sam Hunt will avoid charges after he was reportedly arrested for alleged speeding outside of Nashville. The country singer, 40, was arrested and taken to jail on Jan. 20 for allegedly speeding and violating an interlock device, which prevents drivers from starting their vehicles unless they pass a breathalyzer test, TMZ reported. He was released the same day on $1,500 bond, according to the outlet. It remains unclear just how Hunt violated the device. A rep for Hunt tells PEOPLE that the singer's lawyer cleared the paperwork in court this week, and the star will not face charges. A spokesperson for the Henderson Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. The incident comes more than five years after Hunt was arrested in Nashville on charges of driving under the influence and possessing an open container in November 2019. The 'Body Like a Back Road' singer was taken into custody after police responded to a call of a vehicle driving the wrong way down the road, and his blood alcohol content level at the time was .173. The star also lost his license for a year, and his car was to have an interlock installed until he got his license back. "It happened," Hunt said of the arrest to HITS Daily Double in 2020. "People in my camp were talking about suppressing it, but why would I be afraid to talk about it? If it happens, it's true. I was raised and taught to respect [alcohol]. Moderation is important. I've never wanted to glorify it. It's a cheap trick in country music, and I've always wanted to avoid that. I don't like using [drinking] as a party song; for me, that wouldn't be honest. I've never been the guy who shotguns a beer. I know people who partake that way, and I wouldn't want to shake my finger or look down on them." In November, Hunt and his wife Hannah, who married in 2017, announced that they're expecting their third child. The pair are parents to daughter Lucy Louise, 2½, and son Lowry Lee, 14 months. 'It's about to get real,' he said on Audacy's Katie & Company podcast of baby No. 3. 'I'm elated, can't wait!'
