20.8% of proposed projects at Invest Kerala Global Summit are operational: P. Rajeeve
Speaking at a press conference on the progress of the projects for which Expression of Interests were received at the summit, he said that out of the 424 projects with a total investment of ₹1.77 lakh crore, work on 20.8% have begun.
According to Mr. Rajeeve, on the completion of the 86 projects, 40,439 jobs are expected to be created. Out of the remaining projects which are yet to be started, 268 have already got the required land while 156 are yet to get land. Among those which got land, a total of 29 projects require land conversions or various exemptions to go ahead with their work.
Speaking further on the plans for the months ahead, he said that projects worth ₹1,500 crore will begin operations in July, while projects worth ₹1,437 crore are expected to begin in August. A total of ₹1,011 crore investment projects have come across all the eight Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) parks.

Mr. Rajeeve said that the foundation stone for Bharat Biotech's new project will be laid at the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) Park in Angamaly. Adani Logistics will set up a logistic park in Kalamassery at a cost of ₹600 crore. IBM has taken over two floors of the Lulu IT Twin Towers, developed by the Lulu Group, at SmartCity, Kakkanad. With this centre becoming operational, Kerala will become one of the biggest centres of the company in India with over 5,000 employees.
A dedicated Advisory group, chaired by the Industries Minister, has been formed for monitoring project implementation, coordinating across departments and resolving issues swiftly to enable seamless execution. Principal Secretary, Industries, is the Vice-Chairman and KSIDC MD is the convener of this body, which has representatives of industry and trade bodies, renowned industrialists, and senior government officials as members. The committee meets every two months.
The industrial land web portal, https://industrialland.kerala.gov.in has been launched to create a database of land available in the State for industrial purposes, said the Minister. A five-step escalation protocol has been introduced to ensure the timely resolution of investor issues. These include: initial resolution at the nodal officer level, engagement with concerned departments, formal communication if unresolved, escalation to the Secretary level. and, if still pending, final escalation to the minister concerned.

‘Farm-to-kitchen' drive in Kalamassery from August 17
KOCHI: In a significant move aimed at achieving food self-sufficiency, the Kalamassery constituency is set to implement an innovative 'farm-to-kitchen' initiative from August 17 (Chingam 1) to directly deliver fresh produce to consumers, Industries Minister P Rajeeve said on Tuesday. The plan, initiated under the auspices of the Muppathadam Service Cooperative Bank, is designed to create a seamless supply chain from the farm to the consumer's kitchen. 'Air-conditioned vehicles will be used to transport vegetables directly to major centres, including residential areas, flats, universities and government offices at a fixed time each day. This systematic delivery model is expected to provide local farmers with a stable market and consumers with fresh, high-quality produce,' Rajeeve said. To further support the initiative, he also announced establishment of a new food processing park by KINFRA on 37.5 acres in Kunnukara. This facility will be used to create value-added products, ensuring that all produce is utilised efficiently. Furthermore, a crucial safety net for farmers has been introduced: a partnership with Flipkart will ensure that products are procured at a floor price. The project's ultimate goal is to transform Kalamassery into an agriculturally self-sufficient constituency, thereby achieving food sovereignty. As part of the collaborative effort, a constituency-level sub-committee of vegetable and small grain farmers has been formed to oversee production and marketing. Varghese Pollayil was elected as the convener of the new sub-committee.

Farm to plate system to support local farmers in Kalamassery
Kochi: Industries minister P Rajeeve announced that a farm to plate system would be implemented to market produce collected from local vegetable farmers as part of the Kalamassery project. Starting from the first of Chingam, the plan is to implement the farm-to-plate system using air-conditioned vehicles and aims to deliver vegetables directly from the farm to the kitchen. Vehicles would be prepared for collection and the project would be implemented to ensure vegetables reach key locations like flats, residential areas, universities and govt offices at a fixed time every day, the minister added. A new food processing park by Kinfra will be established on 37.5 acres in Kunnukara for food processing. The project's goal is to achieve food sovereignty by transforming Kalamassery into a self-reliant agricultural constituency, he said.

KAU-ABI opens Common Incubation Centre, launches farm exports to GCC
Kerala Agricultural University's (KAU) Agri-Business Incubator (ABI) has set a new benchmark with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Common Incubation Centre and the flag-off of the country's first international agri export from a university-based agribusiness Incubator. The facility, established under the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, was inaugurated on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) by P. Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries & Coir, and presided over by K. Rajan, Minister for Revenue. Equipped with modern processing lines for Kerala's traditional spices, rice, coconut, millets and fruits and vegetables, the new facility also houses laboratories for product quality analysis. It is designed to support entrepreneurs, start-ups, farmers, and students in developing, processing, and scaling value-added agricultural products. Highlighting the broader vision, Mr. Rajan said, 'The presence of such a business park and environment will enhance the entrepreneurial spirit of indigenous start-ups. The facility will also boost the processing and export of Kerala's local products.' Met PMFME targets In his inaugural address, Mr. Rajeeve said Kerala is among the few States to have met the PMFME scheme's expected targets. The programme is implemented in Kerala by the Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP) under the Department of Industries & Commerce, in partnership with KAU, with Centre–State funding shared in a 60:40 ratio. He added that the State government's upcoming plan to establish food parks in collaboration with universities will create further opportunities for innovation and growth in food processing. B. Ashok, Vice-Chancellor and Agricultural Production Commissioner of Kerala, said, 'Such common incubation facilities give entrepreneurs the space to test their ideas, gain market confidence, and connect with global buyers. This is a prime example of academia driving innovation, enterprise, and export growth.' K.N. Anith, director of research at KAU, stated that the Common Incubation Centre is poised to become a model for other States by integrating academic expertise with industrial infrastructure, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), to boost value addition in the agri-food sector. The inaugural export – executed by M/s. Nouka Enterprises – features fruit-based beverages, cookies, honey-based products and ready-to-drink and ready-to-serve produce, bound for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This is the first time in India that products manufactured using an agri business incubator's facilities within a university have entered the export market, according to KAU sources. 'The facility's processing lines for coconut, spices, rice, fruits, vegetables, and millets, combined with advanced quality-control laboratories, are now fully operational and ready to support both domestic and export-focused enterprises,' said K.P.
