Amapiano summit to be part of Basha Uhuru at Constitution Hill

The 3rd annual Amapiano Africa Summit in collaboration with Basha Uhuru will take place from June 26-27 at Constitution Hill, in its powerful ideal of Youth Month.
The much anticipated two-day summit will cover and highlight the power, elegance, culture, versatility and education of the much-loved South African music genre. Among the speakers will be Shakes Mashaba, Lebogang Maile, Sthembile Ndaba, Dichaba Phaletse and Victor Vele.
It will be curated and conceptualised by Thulani Maduse, well known in the entertainment and events industry as 'Thulani Way'. He says, 'My team and I have been working really hard to keep the summit growing. Growing and empowering the genre is the main aim. This year's one will be even bigger and better, as we excitedly prepare for our Amapiano Africa Awards later in the year.'
Each day will follow set activities such as a special gala dinner, performances and insightful discussion panels with notable and respected industry names.
This year takes a deeper look into honouring the music genre while shining a spotlight on its valued artists and their wellness. Extended entities involved in its growth, such as corporate partners, will put an emphasis on the business of Amapiano and its global pathway. Its preservation, gender inclusivity and promoting a unified African music industry will be at the core of the summit.
The futuristic outlook of the Amapiano industry, monetisation models, brand building, empowering the next generation, industry ecosystems, mentorship, amplifying female voices and international expansion will be dissected to ensure all attendees leave with all their questions answered. The summit days will run on a schedule from morning until afternoon on each day, with a gala dinner on day one and an after party on day two. Day three will see the Basha Uhuru event in its full bloom.

As expected, amapiano has dominated; however, the world is gravitating towards other South African genres. 'The 2025 Global Impact List proves that when collaboration fuels creativity, South African music becomes an unstoppable force. We're not just seeing global reach – we're seeing global influence,' said Spotify's Head of Music in Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu. Tyla's songs, Show Me Love with WizTheMc, Bliss and the Push 2 Start remix with Sean Paul sit in the top three spots, respectively. Maphorisa, who is preparing for the Scorpion Kings concert alongside Kabza Da Small, has five songs on the list. The five include Uyaphapha Marn (feat. Scotts Maphuma & Kabelo Sings) and Dlala Ka Yona with Focalistic, Ricky Lenyora, Uncool MC & Mellow & Sleazy. Former Idols contestant Dominic Neill is also among the top music exports with his song Wild For The Night. South African hip-hop was also present through Yanga Chief's track What If? (Mngani) from his album, Lord Faku-The Life Of A Dyan. Davido joins Scorpion Kings Live with Friends lineup

The legendary composer and musician Caiphus Semenya will be honoured at the event. Nigerian superstar Davido has joined the star-studded lineup for the Scorpion Kings Live With Friends show. The much-anticipated event will take place at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday, 29 August 2025. The announcement came as a surprise bonus in the Kings' Meet Our Friends series, which has been unveiling the event's stellar lineup over the past weeks. 'Davido is family. Having him with us makes this a truly continental moment,' said DJ Maphorisa. Kabza De Small added: 'We've built this lineup to be history-making – and Davido is the perfect final piece.' A star-studded lineup The main stage features South Africa's top talent, including Ami Faku, Cassper Nyovest, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Kwesta, Mafikizolo, Mawhoo, Msaki, Njelic, Nkosazana Daughter, Oskido, Sizwe Alakine, Sjava, Thatohatsi, Tracy, Uhuru, Young Stunna, and the Scorpion Kings themselves. The pre-show kicks off early, showcasing performances from 25K, Ba Bethe Ga Shoazen, Banques, Blxckie, Christos, DBN Gogo, Dihno, Dlala Thukzin, Venom, and Vinny Da Vinci – ensuring fans enjoy a full day of music before the main event.
