It's every pet owner's worst nightmare: Cruel moment dog called Morticia is STOLEN from her 72-year-old owner by group of teens

Daily Mail26-04-2025

A 72-year-old man was walking his beloved dog in Melbourne when a group of teenagers stole her right out of his hands, leaving him heartbroken.
Victoria Police are still searching for Morticia, a five-year-old white English Staffordshire terrier cross who was stolen on Saturday.
Officers said the pup was being walked along Huntingdale Road at about 2.30am by her owner when a group in a black Holden Commodore pulled over.
The teenagers, believed to be young men and women, made demands for his dog.
Ewa Gawrysiak, daughter of the owner Boguslaw, told news.com.au the teenagers in the car yelled 'we want the dog' and 'give us the dog'.
'[Dad] blew it off as drunks coming home after a night out,' she said, adding her family were shift workers so it wasn't unusual for her father to walk the dog at night.
Mr Gawrysiak was reportedly chased by one of the youths to a nearby convenience store on Waverley Road in Chadstone.
Ewa said her father hid with Morticia and tried to pull her back when one teenager patted her in the store.
An altercation occurred and the offenders stole the dog, police said. Mr Gawrysiak was not injured.
Police said the offenders fled the scene in the Commodore, which didn't have any numberplates, and they were last seen driving south on Huntingdale Road.
Investigators released images of the dog in the hope someone knows of her whereabouts.

She said: "Not knowing what to say, what to do or even how to continue to live in this cyclone of uncertainty. "The tears come, the anger and frustrations come and most of all our hearts are shattering more and more each Day." The mum added: "Your little man/brother asked yesterday, 'Why won't Phee take our calls? She always takes our calls! "Mate, I wish I knew, but we have to believe that the police and the lights that our amazing community are leaving on will ... bring her home to us." Pheobe was last seen near Bundaberg Airport in southern Queensland about 8.30am on May 15. The teen was supposed to fly to Brisbane and then to Perth, to see her "high-school sweetheart" boyfriend but CCTV footage showed that she never entered the airport. She is said to have made a last-minute call to him moments before she was set to enter the airport. Meanwhile, one of Phoebe's two flatmates has been charged with unrelated gun offences after police allegedly discovered weapons in the car linked to the teen's disappearance, according to Australian news outlet Tanika Kristan Bromley, 33, was reportedly arrested over the weekend, and has since been refused police bail. Her partner, James Wood, Pheobe's other flatmate, reportedly attended court to support Tanika. But both Tanika and James have been interviewed by police, and according to there is no indication they were involved in the teen's disappearance. Police previously declared the flat Pheobe shared with them, along with the car that took her to the airport as crime scenes. The pair is cooperating with officers, according to Australian media. They have expanded their search around 40 kilometres south of Gin Gin where her flat was located to the Good Night Scrub National Park. The national park is reportedly being treated as "crucial" to the investigation, with murder detectives and police divers searching the area. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said: "Events like that rock the heart and soul of communities - they always do." He said every effort would be made to support the police search for the teen. Eerie graffiti spotted near where toddler vanished while playing hide and seek

Little William Tyrrell was just three when he vanished from the garden of his foster grandmother, where he had been playing with his sister and wearing a Spider-Man outfit Eerie graffiti was spotted close to where a toddler vanished 11 years ago while playing hide and seek. A man noticed four red words sprayed on a tree stump two years after William Tyrell went missing, and says he alerted police but never heard anything more about it. Bob Carnes said he came across the graffiti about just over half a mile from Bird Tree, a landmark in Kendal, New South Wales, about 230 miles northeast of Sydney, where three-year-old William was last seen. Mr Carnes added his "stomach churned" when he learned the area close to the site became subject to renewed search calls. ‌ ‌ Mr Carnes told that he found the stump with the words "Jesus Saves William Tyrrell" in 2016, two years after the boy went missing. He had been on a family trip before coming across the "eerie" graffiti. "We reported it to the police, they went out and looked at it, called me for directions and we never heard another thing about it again," he told the outlet. "Then today I read this and think 'just imagine if this stump was somehow connected?' What an oversight it may have been. "It sent chills through me when we came across it all those years ago and still does when I think about it today. Who writes something like that on a stump in the middle of the bush? We still don't know what happened to the young fella but whoever sprayed this stump obviously had formed an opinion." Little William vanished from the garden of his foster grandmother's home in Kendall on September 12, 2014, with a huge search operation being mounted to find him. Over 10 days locals and officials searched the rural area, looking in forests and creeks. But no trace of the toddler - who had been wearing a Spider-Man outfit while playing hide and seek with his sister - have been found, despite the efforts of emergency services over the years. Many theories have been shared over the circumstances around his disappearance as well as what happened to him. An inquest into his death at the New South Wales Coroners Court, held between 2019 and 2024, heard allegations the foster mother - who cannot be named - hid his body away after he "died from a fall," amid concerns she would be unable to access more children through the care system. According to CrimeStoppers Australia, some 38,000 missing persons reports are made each year across the country. While the overwhelming majority of these people are found within a short period of time there are about 2,600 who remain missing for more than three months.

Man allegedly strangled flatmate and kept her body in a box on balcony for 10 MONTHS

Yang Zhao is accused of killing his flatmate, Qiong Yan, before keeping up the pretence she was alive by messaging her family and friends for months before her body was found A man allegedly strangled his flatmate and hid her body in a box on their balcony for nearly a year, a court heard. Yang Zhao, 30, is accused of murdering 29-year-old Qiong Yan and fooling police and her mother that she was alive and well for 10 months before her remains were eventually discovered. Zhao is said to have sent thousands of texts to her friends and family from the victim's phone, as well as withdrawing thousands of Australian dollars from her bank accounts. He also convinced Ms Yan's mother to send yet more money before police discovered her body in a box on the balcony of their flat in Brisbane, Australia. ‌ ‌ Zhao denies the charge of murder and told police: "I didn't kill anyone." reported the Supreme Court heard how the pair had been inhaling nitrous oxide on the night Ms Yan died. He fell asleep on the sofa before going to use the bathroom. When he returned he saw his flatmate lying on her stomach. When he checked he found she was cold to the touch and had blood on her face. Terrified he was going to be blamed, he decided not to tell police. Zhao told proceedings: 'We were best of friends … like sister and brother. "She wanted me to give her some tissues, but I couldn't stand up at the time so I threw them at her. "She felt it was a little bit too hot on the sofa, so she moved down to lie in front of the television. ‌ 'I noticed her body was very cold … there was blood on her nose and some liquid that had just dried. I was panicked. 'I was worried I would get in trouble. After I saw her like that, I worked out nothing I could do would make a difference. I used the quilt cover to cover her.' Zhao' lawyer, Andrew Hoare, said his client would accept he communicated with Ms Yan's mother and others to pretend she was still alive in a 'selfish' effort to prevent authorities from catching up with him. He added Zhao had 'immense shame and guilt' for the 'conscious deceit'. He said: 'He will not say he caused the death of Ms Yan by strangling her or striking her.' The trial continues
