Yeo Li Yin, 47, was charged with making and initiating the transmission of offensive communications with the intent to annoy others using the
Twitter application, now known as X, under the profile name 'Liyin Yeo' on June 19, 2023.
The post was seen at the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department Office, Wangsa Maju, near here at 2.15 pm on June 22, 2023.
The charge, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, provides a fine of up to RM50,000 or imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or both and shall be subject to a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offence continues after conviction.
Judge Izralizam Sanusi allowed Yeo bail of RM7,000 with one surety and set Sept 8 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Faizah Khalilah Zaberi prosecuted, while Yeo was represented by lawyer Rajsurian Pillai.

"The department's investigative officers will conduct further investigations before legal action is taken for extracting forest produce (durian) without permission. "The Gunung Benum Forest Reserve is known to be the location of durian and other fruit trees such as mangosteen, rambutan, petai and kantan, which are planted illegally," he said. "The department has identified nine main areas that are often the location of illegal agricultural activities in this forest reserve. "We advise residents who live near forest reserves not to move forest products or carry out any activity without permission, to avoid legal action," he added. 10 police officers detained by MACC face disciplinary action
KUALA LUMPUR: Ten police officers recently arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Pahang and Johor will face disciplinary action, according to Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) Director, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad. An internal investigation has been initiated, including the possibility of suspending the officers involved. 'This case involves the arrest of police officers in Pahang and Johor. It has been handed over entirely to the MACC, and JIPS will continue to cooperate throughout the investigation,' Hamzah said. He added that further action will be taken once the investigation concludes and the officers are formally charged in court. 'We will await the investigation process until they are charged in court and sentenced before taking further action,' he stated after the 2025 Inspector-General of Police's Meet and Greet Session with the Media at Bukit Aman.
