"Observing that the internal security challenges would remain dynamic in view of India's geo-political neighbourhood, Shah exhorted the state police forces and Central security agencies to adopt the motto of 'Suraksha, Sajagta and Samanvay' (security, alertness and coordination)," an official statement said.

Stating that the Modi government has resolved numerous issues scattered across various states, Shah said, "India is one of the fastest emerging economies, and with that, the challenges before the country are also increasing. We must stay more vigilant and tackle problems with heightened awareness."
He also called the NSSC significant in enabling senior officers to guide young officers, familiarise them with challenges, and show them the path to finding solutions.
The home minister said the forces of all states and central investigating agencies should move forward to become the best in the world.

Shah also said that all agencies must make a security-first approach, habitual alertness, and coordination an integral part of their working methodology.
He mentioned that the prime minister's strong resolve and the support of fellow citizens sent a strong message of zero tolerance towards terrorism across the world.
Pointing out that India's economy has risen to the fourth position globally, the home minister said India is now a world leader in new and emerging technologies, startups, green energy and innovations.
He also emphasised that India's rising stature would lead to increasing
national security challenges
in the years to come.
Stressing that these challenges needed to be tackled through better coordination, Shah called for the formation of homogeneous teams of central and state agencies to develop strategies, and implement and monitor them.
He also instructed the involvement of young police officers in each state to brainstorm on national challenges and devise solutions to address them.
Shah urged to inculcate the use of national databases like NATGRID, NIDAAN, iMoT and CBI's fugitive database among young officers by including them in all training programmes.
The home minister emphasised that the next five to ten years would be very important for the development and security of the country.
While appreciating the achievements in
Left Wing Extremism
(LWE), northeast and Jammu and Kashmir theatres, he asked the DGPs to adopt a similar approach for effective implementation of the three new criminal laws and tackling the challenge of narcotics.
He also advocated the need for a top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach in initiating action against the big drug cartels, besides focusing on the extradition of narco-offenders.
The DGPs were directed to make it the prime agenda of the police for the next three years in the path towards 'Nasha Mukt Bharat', the statement said.
Pointing out that the police station is the focal point of intelligence collection, he called upon the police leadership to evolve a credible platform for sharing real-time information up to the police station level.
Emphasising the primary duty of the police to protect the life, property and dignity of citizens, the home minister directed each state police force and central agency to strive towards excellence, and nurture a spirit of healthy competition to address the internal security challenges.
Stressing the need for all-round development in the LWE-affected areas, Shah urged the DGPs to coordinate with state administrations to ensure the implementation of more than 300 central and state development schemes at the grassroots level.
Underscoring the importance of securing smaller seaports along the country's maritime borders, Shah emphasised the capacity building of state police to counter infiltration and smuggling activities.
He also reviewed the counter-terror initiatives and directed that stringent legal action be taken against repeat offenders.
Earlier, he paid homage to the martyrs on the occasion of
Kargil Vijay Diwas
and saluted the efforts of the armed forces and the BSF during Operation Sindoor.

New Delhi, The government on Wednesday approved the first-ever cadre review of the Border Security Force in 60 years of its existence enhancing its manpower by about 4,000 personnel between constable and inspector ranks. The about 2.65 lakh-strong BSF, raised in 1965, is primarily tasked to guard Indian borders with Pakistan in the west and Bangladesh in the east apart from rendering a variety of duties in the internal security domain of the country. "The Government of India has approved the very first cadre review of BSF Group B and C employees, spanning from constable to inspector and its implementation has already begun," the spokesperson said. The order was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs after approval from the ministry of finance, and officials said that the cadre restructuring of the two service groups of personnel has led to a net gain of 3,994 posts in the jawan and subordinate officers rank. The spokesperson said this will be a "significant" morale boosting step by the government post Operation Sindoor for "career progression" within the "cutting edge" rank and file. "The review is expected to improve promotion avenues from constable to inspector that will provide significant respite to them from existing stagnation, thereby enhancing overall morale and professional development of force personnel," he said. He also said the decision will lead to a total promotions of 23,710 personnel out of which orders for 8,116 personnel in different ranks were issued by the force headquarters on Wednesday. BSF recruits its personnel from the entry-level of constables who get promoted to the next rank of head constable to the higher posts of assistant sub-inspector, sub-inspector and inspector or subedar major in the B and C group posts. India-Russia-China consultation to intensify: Jaishankar to visit Moscow, Wang Yi to visit New Delhi
Against the backdrop of growing uncertainty in trade ties with the United States, India is on track to intensify engagements with Russia and China in the coming days. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Russia on August 21 to hold discussion with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov as officials here are preparing to host Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi before that, sources here have confirmed. 'The Ministers will discuss key issues on our bilateral agenda, as well as key aspects of cooperation within international framework,' said the Russian Foreign Ministry announcing Mr Jaishankar's visit to Moscow. Mr Jaishankar's visit is part of the preparatory consultation for the next Russia-India annual summit for which President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India later this year. The meeting between Mr Jaishankar and Mr Lavrov comes days after National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visited Russia where he met his counterpart Sergey Shoigu and had a special audience with President Putin. Soon thereafter, President Putin and Prime Minister Modi had a telephonic conversation on Friday that Mr Modi described as 'detailed'. India is yet to officially announce the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi though sources indicated that it is being scheduled ahead of Mr Jaishankar's visit to Moscow. Sources said that the visit is understandably aimed at continuing high level discussion on the India-China border issue and Wang Yi will meet National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and others during his visit. The India-China interaction will be keenly watched as it is being planned three months after Operation Sindoor when India fought a brief war with Pakistan. Lt General Rahul R Singh, Deputy Chief of Army Staff said in July that China provided 'live inputs' to Pakistan during the conflict. It is understood that Wang Yi's interactions in Delhi will also be part of the preparatory meetings before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's expected visit to Tianjin, China for the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). However, India will remain cautious while warming up ties with Beijing because of China's strong relationship with Pakistan, sources have hinted. In the backdrop of President Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs on India for purchase of Russian oil, India has carried out a number of consultations with partners and stakeholders. Prime Minister Modi has spoken on phone with Brazil's President Lula Da Silva. Commerce ministry readies export incentives, credit aid to blunt Trump tariffs
New Delhi: The government will soon announce an economic package to help Indian exporters remain competitive in the overseas markets at a time of severe international trade disruptions caused by US president Donald Trump's tariff tirade. According to a top government official, the commerce ministry has finalized the proposal and sent it to the finance ministry for consideration. The package is designed to give exporters a combination of incentives, policy support and targeted interventions to help them overcome the volatility in global trade. 'We have sent the proposal to the finance ministry, and it is now awaiting clearance from the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) before being placed before the Union cabinet for approval,' the official said on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new building of Intellectual Property Office on Wednesday. The package has been designed to address both immediate operational challenges faced by exporters and medium-term policy hurdles, with a particular emphasis on high-potential sectors that can yield quick gains in overseas shipments, the official added, requesting not to be identified. Mint reported on 8 August that India is preparing to counter stiff US tariffs by pivoting to new markets and offering incentives for exporters, even as prime minister Narendra Modi has vowed to protect the interests of the country's farmers and fishermen. Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff to punish India for buying Russian oil and weapons, doubling the duty on New Delhi's shipments to Washington to 50% Alongside efforts to secure fresh trading destinations, the government's proposed financial package under the Export Promotion Mission is expected to include raising the duty drawback rate from 1% to as high as 5% to help exporters offset the additional tax burden, and reintroducing the interest equalization scheme (IES), which offers exporters a subsidy on interest rates to lower borrowing costs. These initiatives would be funded through a new ₹ 20,000 crore corpus. Duty drawback refers to the refund of duties collected upon import of goods. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Export Promotion Mission in the FY26 budget to facilitate easy access to export credit, and help small businesses overcome non-tariff measures in foreign markets, among others. The measures are aimed at cushioning the economy against the potential fallout of the US tariff hike, which some economists warn could trim India's growth by 20 to 30 basis points, bringing it down to around 6.2% in the current fiscal year. The move is being initiated to mitigate the impact of the US tariffs. However, the government is continuing to pursue dialogue to resolve the matter, and no retaliatory measures are currently being considered. Meanwhile, while inaugurating the new building of the Intellectual Property Office, Union minister for commerce and industry Piyush Goyal said that provisions related to intellectual property laws in the country have been simplified to further improve ease of doing business. Keeping in mind the goal of a developed India, suggestions have been invited from all stakeholders to make the IP ecosystem more effective in order to further strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, Goyal added. 'The government will take similar steps for laws related to IPR (intellectual property rights), trademarks, and copyrights, in line with the approach taken under the Jan Vishwas Bill to decriminalize business laws. Suggestions will be sought from stakeholders for this process, and if necessary, a completely new legislation may be introduced,' Goyal said. The US tariffs threaten to disrupt trade flows between the two countries, which totalled $86.5 billion in Indian goods exported to the US in the last fiscal year. Sectors like textiles, engineering goods, marine products and gems and jewellery are particularly vulnerable and could see exports fall by as much as 40% if the tariffs persist, according to analysts.
