
O.V. Vijayan Literary Awards to be given away on Sunday
Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs Saji Cherian will give away the O.V. Vijayan Memorial Literary Awards at a function to be held at O.V. Vijayan Memorial at Thasrak near here on Sunday. The Minister will also inaugurate the renovated road to the O.V. Vijayan Memorial. The road was reconstructed by spending ₹92 lakh under the inland fisheries development scheme of the Fisheries department.
A. Prabhakaran, MLA, will preside over the function. V.K. Sreekandan, MP, will be the chief guest. Writers E. Santhosh Kumar, Santhosh Echikkanam, and Shafi Poovathinkal are the winners of the O.V. Vijayan Memorial Literary Awards 2024.
Santhosh Kumar won the award for his novel Jnanabharam, Santhosh Echikkanam for his short story anthology Kavana, and Shafi Poovathinkal won the award for the young writer's unpublished story for his work Raqeebinum Atheedinum Idayile Nunakal.
The awards for the novel and the short story collection will comprise a plaque, a citation and a cash prize of ₹25,000. The award for the young writer's unpublished story will have a cash prize of ₹10,000 along with a plaque and a citation.

Masula Beach Festival to be celebrated at Manginapudi Beach from June 6 to 8
Elaborate arrangements are being made for the three-day Masula Beach Festival, to be celebrated from June 6 to 8. The beach will be decorated traditionally for the fest, said Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra. The A.P. Tourism, Department of Culture, Sports, Revenue, Fisheries and other departments officials are making arrangements for the festival, he added. The Minister, who reviewed the arrangements for the festival at Manginapudi Beach, interacted with the tourists and officers of various departments, on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravindra said that entertainment for children, book stalls, eateries, photo gallery depicting the culture and tradition of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and sports activities will be arranged at the beach. Decked up The officials explained that Manginapudi Beach is being decked up for the Musula Festival. Beach Kabaddi, entertainment events, and other competitions will be arranged during the festival, they told the Minister. 'A photo exhibition of marine species and book show will be arranged on the beach. Cultural programmes will be arranged during the festival,' said District Tourism Officer Ram Lakshman. Thrissur's Kairali-Sree theatres to offer word-class experience to moviegoers
The modernised Kairali-Sree theatre complex in Thrissur will be reopened on May 27. Minister for Cultural Affairs, Fisheries, and Youth Affairs Saji Cherian will inaugurate the renovated theatres. The theatre complex, functioning under the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), has been upgraded with cutting-edge features such as RGB laser projectors, Dolby Atmos 64-channel surround sound, 3D and silver screens, state-of-the-art seating, including couple seats, lift access, advanced fire safety systems, and a dedicated feeding room, to offer world-class cinema experience to moviegoers.
