Safety Campaign Returns for 2025 Royal Welsh Show
The campaign will see a series of posters, banners and other media displayed at licenced premises and throughout Builth Wells during show week, encouraging people to behave responsibly in a creative and humorous way. The campaign is being implemented by the Builth Wells Events Safety Group.
The measures introduced by the safety group, which was formed in 2017 and led by Powys County Council, aim to reduce public risk and improve the safety of those in and around Builth Wells during the period of Royal Welsh Show.
Other safety measures that will also be in place includes: Safe walking route known as the Green Route
Medical and wellbeing centre, known as the Help Point, operated by St John Ambulance Cymru from the Strand Hall
'Pop up' Help Point providing guidance and welfare support, operated by Powys County Council's Youth Service from the Groe
Welfare support to be provided by Street Pastors and Youth Workers at night
Free mobile phone charging at the Help Point
Free water, kindly donated by Radnor Hills
Drug amnesty boxes will be placed on approaches to venues in and around Builth Wells
Cllr Richard Church, Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for a Safer Powys, said:
'The Royal Welsh Show is a highlight in many people's calendars, and draws in tens of thousands of visitors to Builth Wells and the surrounding area every year.
'Following the launch of the Have Fun, Take Care, Stay Safe campaign in 2022, it's great to see that it's returning for this year Show as a humorous way to communicate an important message for those in and around Builth Wells during Royal Welsh Show week.
'Of course, we want our visitors to have a great time. It's a social occasion and a perfect opportunity to meet up with those you may not have seen for a while, but please drink and behave responsibly and look after yourselves and your friends. As long as people Have Fun, Take Care and Stay Safe then they will have a memorable time during Royal Welsh Show week.
'We understand that some of the measures that will be in place may cause some disruption for residents living in Builth Wells. However, they are necessary to ensure we keep visitors and residents safe throughout Royal Welsh Show week.'

BioShock 4 is definitely happening 'without question' says Take-Two boss
After undergoing a change in leadership, Take-Two has confirmed the next BioShock game will be released eventually. BioShock 4 was originally announced way back in 2019 and outside of a job listing last year, which suggested development was ramping up, we've heard practically nothing since. However, that changed last week when a Bloomberg report revealed publisher 2K Games had decided to overhaul certain aspects of the sequel and change the leadership at developer Cloud Chamber. This decision, which was later confirmed by the publisher, was made after senior executives said they were unhappy with its progress. The game's narrative was highlighted as one area which will be 'revamped' in the coming months, although it's unclear what that means exactly. Following these changes, Take-Two Interactive, the parent publisher of 2Kand Rockstar Games, discussed BioShock 4's progress in an interview with IGN, where they promised the sequel will come out 'without question'. 'It's going to come out. That I can say hand on heart, without question,' Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, told the outlet. And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That's always challenging. We think we're up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless.' More Trending While BioShock 4 does have a lot to live up to, it's not an encouraging sign that we've seen nothing from the sequel after six years – even if it does eventually come out. Previous rumours suggested the game is based in Antarctica, with a plot loosely inspired by H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, but even if that was true at the time, that's not necessarily the case now. After the original Bloomberg report, 2K Games issued a statement: 'We are working hard to set BioShock up for the best possible future. Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one. We are working closely with leadership at the studio to define this path.' The last game in the series was 2013's BioShock Infinite. A remake of the original game is rumoured to be in development, and Netflix is working on a film adaptation. Letter: Wind farms would threaten future of Royal Welsh Show
Following another very successful Royal Welsh Show, I wonder if farmers from all over Wales, and those visiting from the other parts of the UK and the rest of the world, realise the immense threat that exists concerning the future of this world-famous show? Do they know that there are plans to surround Builth Wells with no fewer than four gigantic wind farms, all very close to the town and to the Llanelwedd show site? Going from north to south: there will be 31 x up to 730 ft high at Nant Mithil Wind Farm, overlooking the important tourist town of Llandrindod Wells and nine miles north of Builth; 16 x 720 ft high at Bryn Gilwern (again by Bute Energy) 4.5 miles north of Builth; 18 x 650 ft high, at Aberedw, just three miles east of Builth and Llanelwedd show site; and 27 x 660ft high, plus solar panels, plus battery storage units, all by Wind2 Ltd, at Banc y Celyn 4 miles south of Builth. That's 92 absolute monstrosities - the biggest on-land in the world! Ridiculous! So the gigantic wind farms are closing in on Builth Wells from all the surrounding hills, rather reminiscent of the Zulus closing in from all directions on the Welsh soldiers at the Battle of Rorke's Drift in South Africa's Zulu Wars! The trouble is the 'thumping' and 'whooshing' of the gigantic wind turbines will be infinitely louder than the rhythmic drum and shield-beating of the Zulus at Rorke's Drift and unlike the Zulus, Bute Energy will not go away and leave the scene. Builth Wells will be stuck with Bute Energy for at least 25 years. Even if Bute goes bust or they sell out to a secretive offshore company in a tax haven, the wind turbines will remain, possibly rusting and useless, like those at static Hendy Wind Farm above Builth. All this can be seen on the map on the Re-Think Wales website. Why aren't Re-Think issuing regular press releases or even writing letters to your excellent influential journal? The Royal Welsh Show at Llanelwedd could be in very big trouble. Has anyone considered how upsetting the loud noises and inaudible infra-sound (to us) from these revolving monsters will have on the fine pedigree animals of one of the premier agricultural shows of Europe? Could they suffer great stress? What is the opinion of the RSPCA , I wonder? Has anyone bothered to ask?

Take-Two refuses to comment on GTA 6 pricing, but says it'll be 'more value than what we charge'
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken out about the pricing of GTA 6, though he was hesitant to make any concrete statements on the matter. The boss of Take-Two Interactive has remained tight-lipped on the potential price tag for the much-anticipated GTA 6, as fans anxiously await news of another possible steep price increase for what is set to be 2026's most eagerly awaited game. GTA 6 is poised to become one of the most significant video games in history if the current hype continues to build over the next few years. However, this brings its own challenges. Can Rockstar Games truly meet the high expectations and deliver one of the greatest games ever made? And if it scores a mere 7/10, would that be considered a failure for the company? There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the game. While other titles are set to launch in 2026, such as the stunning Neverway revealed at the recent Nintendo Direct Indie World showcase, and a new Monster Hunter Stories title announced at its preceding Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, there's no doubt that GTA 6 will dominate the gaming conversation – if players can afford it. Following the audacious $80 price tag for Mario Kart World, and The Outer Worlds 2 being forced to slash its price due to player backlash, announced via Twitter, the discussion around video game prices has once again taken centre stage. Naturally, the world's most anticipated game has come under scrutiny. Yet, Take-Two Interactive has offered little insight into the matter, although there seems to be a hint that gamers might be spared another $80 release. Another GTA heist? Take-Two Interactive has been probed about the possibility of a particularly pricey GTA 6. While the company hasn't explicitly ruled out the idea of an £80 game, it has emphasised its commitment to providing players with value for money. "That announcement will come from Rockstar in due time," Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety. "Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we've had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we're highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it." Zelnick has kept mum on the burning question, but he's hinted that GTA 6 will be worth every penny. Rockstar Games is in a privileged position with its biggest franchise – even if they slapped a £100 price tag on each copy, it would still fly off the shelves and become one of the best-selling titles ever. Whether this practice is ethical or not is up to the fans to decide, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Rockstar. We're not out of the woods yet, but that doesn't mean we aren't being pursued by a red-eyed, raging price tag.
