BioShock 4 is definitely happening 'without question' says Take-Two boss

Metro4 days ago
After undergoing a change in leadership, Take-Two has confirmed the next BioShock game will be released eventually.
BioShock 4 was originally announced way back in 2019 and outside of a job listing last year, which suggested development was ramping up, we've heard practically nothing since.
However, that changed last week when a Bloomberg report revealed publisher 2K Games had decided to overhaul certain aspects of the sequel and change the leadership at developer Cloud Chamber. This decision, which was later confirmed by the publisher, was made after senior executives said they were unhappy with its progress.
The game's narrative was highlighted as one area which will be 'revamped' in the coming months, although it's unclear what that means exactly.
Following these changes, Take-Two Interactive, the parent publisher of 2Kand Rockstar Games, discussed BioShock 4's progress in an interview with IGN, where they promised the sequel will come out 'without question'.
'It's going to come out. That I can say hand on heart, without question,' Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, told the outlet.
If that didn't qwell your fears around the sequel's tumultuous development, Zelnick offered some more words of encouragement.

'We don't talk about how long our development cycles are,' he added. 'We have had some ups and downs along the way. That is accurate. And we have had changes in studio leadership.
'That said, we have very big shoes to fill on BioShock because of the legacy of Ken Levine, the legacy of what has gone before, which has been so successful. And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That's always challenging. We think we're up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless.' More Trending
While BioShock 4 does have a lot to live up to, it's not an encouraging sign that we've seen nothing from the sequel after six years – even if it does eventually come out.
Previous rumours suggested the game is based in Antarctica, with a plot loosely inspired by H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, but even if that was true at the time, that's not necessarily the case now.
After the original Bloomberg report, 2K Games issued a statement: 'We are working hard to set BioShock up for the best possible future. Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one. We are working closely with leadership at the studio to define this path.'
The last game in the series was 2013's BioShock Infinite. A remake of the original game is rumoured to be in development, and Netflix is working on a film adaptation.

US weighs taking stake in Intel, Bloomberg News reports

Aug 14 (Reuters) - The Trump administration is in talks with Intel (INTC.O), opens new tab to have the U.S. government potentially take a stake in the chipmaker, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the plan. Shares of the company rose nearly 7%. The plan stems from a meeting this week between President Donald Trump and Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, the report added. This comes after Trump publicly demanded the resignation of Tan over his past investments in Chinese tech companies, some linked to the Chinese military. The White House and Intel did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.

GTA 6 maker Rockstar working on multiple other games says Take-Two

Aside from the Max Payne remakes, GTA 6 studio Rockstar is rumoured to be working on more ports of older games. With how big a game GTA 5 was, both in terms of its content and how much it sold, it's not unreasonable to assume GTA 6 is aiming to be even bigger. As such, you have to imagine that the entirety of developer Rockstar Games is putting all its time and energy into ensuring it lives up to the lofty expectations of fans. Especially since it's been more than a decade since GTA 5's initial launch. This isn't necessarily the case, though, as Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, has suggested the studio has a lot more on its plate besides GTA 6. As spotted by Rockstar Mag on X, Zelnick made a recent appearance on CNBC's business section, where he was of course asked for an update on GTA 6's progress. After once again recommitting to its new release date of May 26, 2026, adding that his 'level of conviction is very very high,' Zelnick was then asked how much of the Rockstar team is working on GTA 6 specifically. 'Rockstar does have a lot of other things going on,' answered Zelnick, adding that GTA 6 is, of course, 'the primary focus.' Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. This does make sense since larger studios tend to juggle more than one project at a time. Otherwise, the wait between new games would be much longer. — Rockstar Mag' (@Rockstar_Mag) August 12, 2025 With how much of an undertaking GTA 6 is, any other projects Rockstar is simultaneously handling are likely smaller in scope. So, don't go expecting a big budget Red Dead Redemption sequel to drop in a year or two. If anything, Rockstar could be working on ports and remasters of its back catalogue; several of which have been the subject of popular rumours in the past. More Trending Red Dead Redemption 2, for instance, is said to be due an updated re-release for modern consoles, including the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as modern ports of 2008's GTA 4 and 2012's Max Payne 3. Speaking of Max Payne, Rockstar does have a hand in the remakes of the first two games that are currently in development over at Remedy, the studio responsible for the Alan Wake and Control games. According to a new financial report from Remedy, development on the remakes is going steady and 'collaboration with Rockstar Games remains close and productive, ensuring alignment as the project advances toward its next major phase.' However, there's nothing to indicate when Remedy will have something tangible to show, let alone a release date. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. China urges local firms not to use Nvidia's H20 chips, Bloomberg News reports

Aug 12 (Reuters) - Chinese authorities have urged local companies to avoid using Nvidia's (NVDA.O), opens new tab H20 processors, particularly for government-related purposes, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Authorities have sent notices to a range of firms discouraging use of the less-advanced semiconductors, with the guidance taking a particularly strong stance against the use of Nvidia's H20s for any government or national security-related work by state enterprises or private companies, the report said. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report. Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours. Nvidia said in July that its products have no "backdoors" that would allow remote access or control after China raised concerns over potential security risks in the chipmaker's H20 artificial intelligence chip. U.S. President Donald Trump suggested on Monday that he might allow Nvidia to sell a scaled-down version of its next-generation advanced GPU chip, Blackwell, in China, despite deep-seated fears in Washington that China could harness U.S. AI capabilities to supercharge its military. The most advanced chip Nvidia is currently allowed to sell to China is the H20, which is based off the company's older Hopper architecture platform. The Trump administration green-lighted exports of H20 AI to China last month. The Trump administration last week also confirmed an unprecedented deal with Nvidia and AMD (AMD.O), opens new tab to give the U.S. government 15% of revenue from sales of some advanced chips in China. China's renewed guidance on avoiding chips also impacts AI accelerators from Advanced Micro Devices, the Bloomberg report said, adding that it was unclear whether any notices from Chinese authorities specifically mentioned AMD's MI308 chip. AMD did not respond to a request for comment outside regular business.
