Neighbours star shares update on seven month old son after brain tumour surgery
Australian model, Erin McNaught, has revealed her seven month old son has undergone surgery to remove a brain tumour after heartbreakingly noticing a 'rapid decline in his health and happiness'
Former Neighbours star Erin McNaught has told fans her baby son, Obi, has undergone surgery to remove a tumour on his brain following "the hardest few days". The brave tot was diagnosed with cancer, aged just seven months, after Erin noticed a "rapid decline in his health and happiness".
Thankfully, the mum-of-three, 43, said Obi's medical team were "very happy" with how the major operation went this week as she updated followers while thanking them for their support. Taking to Instagram, sharing a snap of herself kissing little Obi, whose head was wrapped up in bandages, in hospital following his operation, she said: "Today Obi had the surgery to remove the tumour. The amazing team here are very happy with the way it went."
Earlier this week, the former Miss Universe Australia and her music producer partner Stace Cadet shared Obi's devastating diagnosis. The couple, who welcomed their first child together in October last year, issued a tearjerking joint statement on Thursday morning, as they opened up about their son's health concerns.
"For the last few weeks we have noticed a rapid decline in Obi's behaviour and happiness," the statement began. It continued: "He was having problems eating, sleeping and most recently, keeping his head straight."
The couple explained that after noticing Obi change so quickly, they booked him in for an MRI scan under the advice of their doctor. The scan, conducted earlier this week, tragically revealed that a large tumour was situated on the right side of his brain.
"At about 6:00pm Tuesday night we met with a neurosurgeon who broke the heartbreaking news," Erin and Stace continued, adding: "We are absolutely shattered and the last few days have been our hardest days."
Following Obi's operation, the proud parents praised the team at Queensland Children's Hospital, who are now working with Erin and Stace to devise a treatment plan.
"Our team at the Queensland Children Hospital have been incredible and remain hopeful that we can remove the mass and get Obi healthy and happy pending the results," they concluded.
The post was met with lots of well wishes from from family, friends and fans, including Erin's ex-husband, British musician, Example, who she shares two children with - sons Evander, seven, and Ennio, five.
In November 2007, Erin was cast as Sienna Cammeniti in Neighbours. She said she was "nervous" about joining the show because it was "a big change" to the modelling work she was known for.
However, after she began filming her first scenes on 17 December, by March 2008, she revealed her contract had been extended three months before leaving the iconic Aussie soap in July 2008.

'Scared' Gemma Collins 'calls 999 after receiving abusive letter at her home'
The Only Way Is Essex icon Gemma Collins reportedly had to call the police after receiving a 'threatening and abusive' letter at her home A 'scared' Gemma Collins reportedly called the police after she received a 'threatening and abusive' letter at her home from a man who wrote about his extreme dislike for her. The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 44, called the cops, who then visited her home in the countryside. Following the reported incident, it has been said that the TV personality has upped her security with round the clock dog patrols and loved ones keeping her company. According to an insider, the Celebrity Big Brother icon was left 'shaken and very scared for her safety' after receiving the letter. The source said the abusive letter was from a "man expressing his extreme dislike for her and using menacing language." They added: "It was really nasty and made reference to tracking her down, so she called the police straight away." The Mirror have reached out to Gemma's representatives for comment. The source went on to tell The Sun that Gemma has been grateful to the police for their help in the "ongoing investigation". In May, Gemma revealed on a podcast that she had to deal with stalkers over the years, which "played havoc on her mind". Gemma said: 'No one would believe the bloody crap I've had to deal with. I've had a woman stalker who wrote me a letter in white gloves and wanted to kill me. "You know, people would wish me dead. I'd get all sorts at the shop. Weird. People are weird. And that's why in a way I came away from my shop in the end.' Meanwhile, Gemma has been struggling with her health in recent weeks. Earlier this week, a bedridden Gemma took to Instagram to share an update about her health, revealing that she had been seriously unwell for a number of weeks. In her post, which included a photo of the reality TV star laying in bed, she wrote: "Hey guys sorry been quiet i have Pneumonia. I'm not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily. I am still honouring my work commitments which is taking every bit of energy I have but will be back entertaining you all soon." In a further update on her Instagram Story, Gemma revealed she was receiving treatment via a drip and had been seen by a doctor. Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs typically caused by an infection, and while most people recover within two to four weeks, infants, the elderly, and those with heart or lung conditions are at a higher risk of severe illness and may require hospitalisation. Luckily, Gemma has not had to go to hospital, but speaking to The Mirror, she admitted that she felt as though she was "dying".

"But slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream." The Black Magic singer expressed her joy over the fact her children were brought back together following treatment. She explained: "Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe.
