Bhagwat to inaugurate Madhav Srishti Arogya Kendra
Indore: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) chief Mohan Bhagwat will participate in a social harmony meeting and inaugurate the new Madhav Srishti Arogya Kendra in Indore on Sunday. A one-day social harmony meeting will be held from 9am to 5pm at the Brilliant Convention Center. The meeting will bring together provincial and national-level heads of various communities residing in the Indore-Ujjain division. The centre aims to be a beacon of hope for the underprivileged, poor, and lower-middle-class by providing affordable services through the Ayushman scheme and donor support. 2 Army Hospital neonatologists come with book on newborn care
New Delhi, Aug 8 (PTI) Two senior neonatologists from Army Hospital R&R Delhi have come out with a book that seeks to offer answers to questions most often asked by parents of newborn babies, and also those encountered in OPDs and post-natal wards. 'Care of Newborn Baby, a Handy Guide" by Dr Shankar Narayan and Dr Subhash Chandra Shaw was released by NITI Aayog member Dr Vinod Paul on Thursday. With the social structure of our times being dominated by nuclear families, most parents of newborn babies do not have the comfort of elders being physically around to participate in caring for the baby, Shaw said. Changing circumstances like most couples working also contributes to anxiety about appropriate care being provided to their baby, he said. 'The situation is compounded by the availability of a wide variety of information on newborns which may not all be correct or appropriate," Shaw said. 'This book is thus a small effort to try and bridge this gap in the right kind of knowledge that would help parents provide appropriate care confidently for their newborn baby," he stated. To arrive at the material in this book, published by National Book Trust, the authors have selected questions most often asked by parents of newborn babies, those encountered in OPDs and post natal wards, and tried to provide appropriate answers to these very questions. Face recognition, e-KYC completed for 75% of Take Home Ration beneficiaries
New Delhi, Aug 8 (PTI) Over three-fourths of eligible beneficiaries registered for the government's Take Home Ration (THR) scheme have completed facial recognition and e-KYC verification, the Ministry of Women and Child Development said on Friday. As of August 5, face capturing and e-KYC of 3.69 crore beneficiaries which is 75.12 per cent of the 4.91 crore registered under the scheme have been completed, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur informed the Lok Sabha. The verification drive is part of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, a centrally sponsored programme that subsumes Anganwadi services, Poshan Abhiyaan and the Scheme for Adolescent Girls to tackle malnutrition through a life cycle approach. Supplementary nutrition is provided to children aged six months to six years, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent girls, in line with revised norms introduced in January 2023 that focus on diet diversity, quality protein, healthy fats and micronutrients. The Face Recognition System (FRS) module, developed under the Poshan Tracker application, was piloted in August 2024 and rolled out nationwide on an optional basis in December 2024. Since July 1 this year, it has been used for mandatory monthly verification of beneficiaries to ensure last-mile delivery of rations. For children under six, where Bal Aadhaar lacks biometric data, the FRS is carried out for a parent or guardian. According to the ministry, stringent data protection measures are in place, including encryption of all verification requests, no permanent storage of images on devices, role-based access for authorised personnel, and encrypted internal databases to prevent misuse of sensitive information. Thakur said the mission remains open to all eligible beneficiaries without entry barriers, with the aim of breaking the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition.
