Driver speaks out after accident on N4, leaving one dead and others injured
The driver of an Opel Corsa who was involved in a horrific accident on the N4 near the Middelburg dam, which claimed the life of one of the passengers, has spoken about the traumatic accident.
The accident occurred at around 04:25 on Saturday, when a Ford Ranger bakkie hit an Opel Corsa from behind, sending the vehicle into the veld.
A passenger died, and five occupants, including the driver of the vehicle, were injured.
According to the driver, Joseph Mosoma, he observed a truck overtaking him while he was driving in the slow lane, and in a split second, heard and felt a car hitting him from behind.
Joseph said the car then rolled for about seven to 10 times before coming to a stop.
He mentioned that he was travelling with the deceased, heading to eMalahleni, coming from Belfast. He added that he only knew the deceased from their area and did not know him very well.
Joseph told the Middelburg Observer that they were transported to Belfast Hospital after the accident. He and the other passengers all sustained various injuries.
He still has pain in his chest, especially when he tries to breathe, and he was left with bruises on his thighs and forehead.
Joseph detailed how he now suffers from constant nightmares since the accident happened, and that every time he closes his eyes, the accident replays in his mind. He said the accident not only left him with injuries, but with trauma as well.

The incident took place last week, when five armed men allegedly stormed the property and made off with vehicles, livestock, and household goods. Police catches alleged armed robber after high speed chase
Police have arrested a Mozambican national following a farm robbery last week near the Kusile Power Station. The arrest came after a high-speed chase that led to the recovery of stolen vehicles and other property. The robbery occurred on August 14, when five armed men allegedly forced their way into the farmhouse. A Ford Ranger Club Cab, a BMW, a generator, a fridge, jumper cables, cell phones, as well as sheep and chickens were stolen. According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the stolen vehicles were located with the help of a tracking company on the R42 between Bronkhorstspruit and Delmas. The police also spotted a silver Mazda believed to have been used by the robbers. A high-speed chase ensued, during which the suspects abandoned the BMW. 'While some officers secured the scene, others continued to pursue the Ford Ranger. The chase led them to eTwatwa, Daveyton, where the men abandoned the Ford Ranger and fled on foot,' Ndubane said. During the pursuit, a Mazda Etude allegedly tried to block the police from overtaking and subsequently crashed.
