Fox Facing Mounting Pressure to Remove Tom Brady From Broadcast Booth
Fox Facing Mounting Pressure to Remove Tom Brady From Broadcast Booth originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady signed his 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox to work on the network's No. 1 broadcast team back in May 2022, no one seemed to have an issue with his new career choice. But after it was announced that Brady had purchased a minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders in March 2023, what many considered a pretty big conflict of interest suddenly arose. Brady's Raiders ownership had to undergo a vote of the rest of the league's owners, and he was given special rules to abide by in the broadcast booth that addressed those concerns head on. Why is Tom Brady under fire? After a recent video of Brady started circulating on social media, many fans believe that the 48-year-old shouldn't be allowed to call games on Fox given his clear bias. The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov posted a video of Brady decked out in Raiders gear, walking around the team's practice at training camp, prompting many fans to hit the comment section either demanding Brady be removed from Fox's broadcast booth or expressing their clear issue with him calling games as an owner. 'If Brady wants to be an owner then he needs to step away from the commentary booth,' one fan exclaimed. 'Cool. He should not be allowed to be an analyst on FOX,' remarked another fan. 'So this guy is gonna announce games?? Seems to be a conflict of interest. Just go be an owner bro,' a third fan scoffed. 'So he's no longer doing games on Fox, correct?' one user asked. 'The fact that he's allowed to call games in just unspeakable,' declared another user. 'Why is the minority owner of a team the color commentator on FOX's #1 broadcast team? I still don't understand this at all,' questioned one fan. 'Perfectly normal for him to be a network's #1 analyst. Perfectly normal,' another fan wrote. During the 2024 season, Brady called just two games that could fall under the conflict of interest umbrella — the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, and the Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX (the Chiefs are the Raiders division rival). This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

Lynx All-Star, MVP candidate Napheesa Collier will reportedly miss multiple weeks with an ankle sprain
Minnesota Lynx All-Star and MVP candidate Napheesa Collier will miss at least two weeks due to a sprained right ankle sustained Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces, ESPN's Kendra Andrews reports. Imaging revealed Collier avoided major injury, according to the report. But the injury is a risk to her MVP campaign and projects to sideline her for multiple high-stakes games as Minnesota seeks to maintain the best record in the WNBA. Collier suffered the injury in the third quarter of Minnesota's 111-58 win over the Aces. Collier fell to the court after a collision during a Minnesota fast break and wasn't able to get back with her teammates on defense. Collier needed help from players from both teams to stand up during a break in the action but immediately sat back down on the court, where she received treatment from team trainers. She eventually walked off the court to the locker room with the aid of a trainer and did not return to the game. Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve didn't offer a diagnosis after the game and told reporters, "Hopefully she'll be OK." News that Collier avoided serious injury is a relief in Minnesota. But an absence of multiple weeks is a tough break for the stretch run of the season as the Lynx look to maintain the best record in the WNBA and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. It's also a threat to Collier's MVP campaign. Collier slated to miss multiple high-stakes games amid MVP campaign A five-time All-Star and three-time All-WNBA selection, Collier is the betting favorite to win MVP this season. The two-week timeframe from Monday projects that she'll miss a minimum of four games and some of the biggest games on the Lynx schedule. The Lynx are scheduled to play three consecutive games against the reigning champion New York Liberty from Aug. 10-19 in a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Finals. She'd miss two of those games per the two-week timeframe and be at risk of missing the third. Collier will also miss an Aug. 5 game against the 16-13 Seattle Storm, who are in third place in the West. And she'd be at risk of missing an Aug. 21 game against the 18-11 Atlanta Dream, who sit a half-game behind the Liberty for first place in the East. Collier, 28, is averaging a career-high 23.5 points alongside 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. She's shooting 53.7% from the floor and 36.8% from 3-point distance. The Lynx enter Monday with a 23-5 record, 5.5 games ahead of the Liberty for the best record in the league.

Former Yankees pitcher Lance Lynn defends Aaron Boone — this is what you aren't seeing
Aaron Boone has been catching all kinds of heat for the Yankees' recent struggles, but former pitcher Lance Lynn is stepping to the manager's defense. 'If it needs to be addressed, he is addressing it,' the longtime pitcher said Monday on the 'Foul Territory' podcast. 'He's not gonna talk through the media, he's not gonna tell you what's going on in the clubhouse. He played the game, he played at a very high level. He knows how it works. Whatever happens in the clubhouse stays in the clubhouse.' Boone has caught blowback from fans who are frustrated that he has not held his players more accountable after mistakes, but Lynn is certain that the manager is doing his job – behind closed doors. Advertisement 'Positive he's addressing everything that's going wrong with the players, and the players are addressing it too, but they're not gonna tell you about it,' Lynn said. 'Because the more that gets out in New York, the worse it gets.' Lynn, who enjoyed a 15-year MLB career, played for Boone on the Yankees in 2018 after getting traded midway through that season. Lance Lynn defended Aaron Boone on the 'Foul Territory' podcast. @FoulTerritoryTV/X Advertisement The Yankees are on a four-game skid and are 8-19 in their 27 games, dropping them to third place in the American League East. But no matter the struggles, Lynn said he sees no benefit in the manager walking into a press conference and lambasting his players. 'They would rather you say, 'Oh, you're not doing enough than 'Oh, he's blowing people up,' and there's more of a story there and things leaking out of the clubhouse, and that causes more problems than what's going on,' Lynn said. 'They know what's wrong, they know how to fix it and they've addressed it. But the problem with the fans and the media and all that, they want to know what's said and how it was said. Advertisement 'And we all know from the best clubhouses we've been in, they stay in-house and no one knows what's going on and you write it yourself.' The Yankees are on a four-game losing streak. JASON SZENES/ NY POST Lynn was a consistently impactful starter in his long career, and he notched All-Star appearances with the Cardinals in 2012 and with the White Sox in 2021. He also won the World Series with St. Louis in 2011.
