THE RUNDOWN
True to form, Taylor Swift has once again sent the world into a fevered frenzy with the surprise announcement of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift's marketing machine kicked into high gear on Monday night when her website transformed into a glittering orange spectacle, complete with a countdown timer ticking toward 12:12 A.M. on August 12. The numerical symbolism wasn't lost on devoted Swifties, who've learned to decode every easter egg the artist drops. When the countdown hit zero, Swift's website predictably crashed under the weight of millions of eager fans before re-booting with sparse details about the mysterious new project.
It was the star's appearance on her partner Travis Kelce's podcast, however, that delivered the money shot. In a teaser clip, Swift dramatically opens a briefcase to reveal a blurred vinyl while declaring, 'This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.'
The full episode is coming out very soon—and is bound to contain much more information about the project.
Swift's debut podcast appearance on Travis Kelce's New Heights will be released at 7 P.M. ET on August 13.
You can watch the podcast here on its YouTube channel. You can also hear it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
Swift hasn't revealed the release date yet. However, pre-orders indicate shipping by October 13. Swift's team has emphasized this isn't the actual release date, and Swift could very well share it tonight.

Taylor Swift's Debut on Travis Kelce's ‘New Heights' Podcast Instantly Smashes Ratings Records

Like many era-defining pop stars, Taylor Swift makes history everywhere she goes and with just about everything she does. Take, for example, her first visit to boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast on Wednesday night (Aug. 13). While the weekly show the Kansas City tight end cohosts with his retired NFL sibling Jason Kelce regularly gets anywhere from 12,000 to nearly 300,000 views on YouTube for their genial sports talk, the figures for Swift's pop-in are already, predictably, off the charts. As of 1:45 p.m. ET on Thursday (Aug. 14) — just 17 hours after its debut — the two-hour Swift episode had more than 10.8 million views, easily besting the second-most popular episode of the show to date, an 8 million view 2024 chat with Jason's wife, Kylie Kelce, as well as nearly doubling the views for a 2023 chat with Travis' Super Bowl-winning teammate, quarterback Patrick Mahomes. According to Spotify, based on an average of the previous five episodes, the Swift chat brought a 3,000% increase in new listeners to the show, as well as spiking an overall 2,500% increase in average streams of the episode and a 1,100% jump in tune in around 8:45 p.m. ET, which was an hour and 45 minutes into the show. Not surprisingly, Swift also helped increase female listenership to New Heights, with Spotify saying that the number of females tuning in is already tracking 618% higher than the average for the previous five shows on its first day of release. That figure becomes even wilder when you consider that female listeners already made up the majority (58%) of New Heights listeners. The already popular podcast that has nearly three million subscribers on YouTube got a major boost when Swift visited to reveal the details of her upcoming 12th album, which is due out on Oct. 3 and features a collab with former Eras Tour opening act Sabrina Carpenter on the title track. The LP is produced by Max Martin and Shellback, the dynamic studio duo behind some of her biggest hits from albums such as 1989 and Reputation. Swift, who rarely does sit-down interviews, once again proved to be the ultimate master of her album rollout narrative on New Heights, which racked up nearly 9 million views within its first 12 hours on YouTube, with The New York Times reporting that 1.3 million people tuned in simultaneously to a livestream of the episode before the crowd crush caused a brief technical glitch. In a comparison likely to further stoke the ire of Donald Trump — who earlier this month said he 'CAN'T STAND' Swift after earlier saying he 'HATES' the singer — the Times noted that, by comparison, an October episode of the very popular Joe Rogan Experience pod featuring then-candidate Trump hit around 11 million views in its first 12 hours on YouTube. CNN added that the 1.3 million Swift figure nearly doubled the 800,000 people who watched Trump's Rogan appearance in the first hour of that October show. Even the Kelces were not immune to the number numbness, with the show's X account shouting out the fans for helping them 'break the internet' amid the technical glitches, Travis posting a happy dance video when it came back online and Jason adding that the 1.3 million figure is just 'the epitome of numerology' given Swift's career-long obsession with the number 13. At press time, the nearly three-hour Rogan chat with Elon Musk in 2018 is among the most viewed ever on YouTube, with more than 69 million views, though CNN host Kate Bouldan predicted that Swift's New Heights episode is already on its way to becoming 'one of the most watched podcasts of all time.' ‘KPop Demon Hunters' Dominates Top Five of July Top Gabb Music Songs Chart

KPop Demon Hunters fever has reached the Top Gabb Music Songs chart, with the entire top five of the monthly ranking's July 2025 edition occupied by music from the Netflix animated film. Billboard has partnered with Gabb Wireless, a phone company for kids and teens, to present a monthly chart tracking on-demand streams via its Gabb Music platform. Gabb Music offers a vast catalog of songs, all of which are selected by the Gabb team to include only kid- and teen-appropriate content. Gabb Music streams are not currently factored into other Billboard charts. While HUNTR/X's 'Golden' is the runaway hit on the weekly Billboard Hot 100, rising to No. 1 on the Aug. 16-dated ranking, it's Saja Boys' 'Your Idol' (No. 8 on the latest Hot 100) that leads the way on Top Gabb Music Songs, debuting atop the August 2025 tally. 'Golden' follows at No. 2, with HUNTR/X's 'Takedown,' EJAE and Andrew Choi's 'Free' and HUNTR/X's 'What It Sounds Like' rounding out the top five. The soundtrack to KPop Demon Hunters has steadily risen on the Billboard 200 since its release, holding at its No. 2 peak on the Aug. 16 list via 100,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Aug. 7, up 7%, according to Luminate. It's worth noting that 'Your Idol,' a song from a movie about a K-pop girl group doing battle against the demon world, takes over No. 1 on Top Gabb Music Songs from Forrest Frank's 'Your Way's Better,' a Christian pop song. 'Your Way's Better' had reigned on the tally since April and ranks at No. 8 on the latest list. KPop Demon Hunters isn't the only musically inclined movie to debut songs on July 2025's Top Gabb Music Songs, either. A pair of songs from Disney's Zombies 4 – 'Dream Come True' and 'The Place To Be' – bow at Nos. 20 and 23, respectively. Alex Warren's 'Ordinary' is the top non-KPop Demon Hunters song on the ranking, falling four spots to No. 6; 'Ordinary' was also recently supplanted from atop the Hot 100 by 'Golden,' ending a nine-week reign so far. Taylor Swift says turning Jason Kelce's daughters into cat fans after white lie was a ‘great challenge'

Taylor Swift reveled in her ability to convince Jason Kelce's young daughters that cats are, in fact, not "poisonous." During her appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce asked Swift how she felt about Jason telling his daughters that cats are poisonous, likely in an effort to dissuade them from asking for one. "It was actually really a great challenge, because as soon as I got the kids around the cats, it was my goal to prove to them that they weren't poisonous. And there's no better way to prove that than to just hand them Benjamin, my rag doll cat, who lets humans hold him like he's a baby," Swift said confidently. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON "My favorite thing ever is when Benny (Jason's 2-year-old) will come up to me and just go, 'I find Benjamin. I find him,' And she's just like over there, just laying with him and petting him and holding him." Swift added that the girls get excited to be around her three cats, which she named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button. "I'm like, 'Yup, and you know what? [Meredith] didn't bite you at all, did she? And if she did bite you, she wouldn't be poisonous.' They're like, 'That's not what our dad said.' And I'm like, 'Well.'" The international pop star, who joined the podcast Wednesday for the first time since her romance with Travis began in 2023, also revealed that Jason's family may be getting a cat of their own after becoming friendly with hers. "You're getting a proper cat. You're getting a cat that chases mice," she said. "What I have are not that. They sit around, and that's enough." Jason didn't deny the speculation, adding that a "barn cat" wasn't entirely out of the question. Jason and Kylie Kelce welcomed another member of the family earlier this year when they announced the birth of their fourth daughter, Finnley, in March.
