The Green Bay Packers are rife with talent on the offensive side of the ball, which should make for a very interesting battle in the NFC North.
We know the Packers are loaded with wide receivers, but they also have a very compelling backfield led by Josh Jacobs and with young pieces like Emanuel Wilson and MarShawn Lloyd. But in the case of the latter, staying on the field has been a trying exercise.
More news: Panthers QB Bryce Young is Already Making People Worried
Green Bay selected Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft and had high hopes for him heading into his rookie campaign, but he played in just one game due to a variety of medical issues. He mostly dealt with hamstring injuries, but when he was finally ready to return late in the year, he fell victim to appendicitis.
Well, now, Lloyd is injured again. The 24-year-old suffered another hamstring injury during the Packers' preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts this past Saturday, and his status for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions is up in the air as a result.
Lloyd just can't seem to catch a break, and Green Bay running backs coach Ben Sirmans went as far to say that Lloyd may be the unluckiest player that he has ever seen.
"It's just, for whatever reason, just unfortunate occurrences for him," Sirmans said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "To be honest, I have not, and I don't think any of us have, or very few of us have (coached a player as unlucky as Lloyd) ... you've just got to believe that at some point, he will get past all this and be fine."

Green Bay's rushing attack should be fine. Jacobs is a star, and Wilson flashed considerable promise last season. Even Chris Brooks is an intriguing candidate. But the Packers were definitely hoping to see some progression from Lloyd in 2025, especially after such a strong final collegiate campaign at USC.

Lloyd rushed for 820 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging a hefty 7.1 yards per carry with the Trojans in 2023. He actually began his NCAA career at South Carolina in 2021 and spent two seasons with the Gamecocks before transferring to USC.
The Wilmington, De. native definitely has talent, but if he isn't able to actually play in the games, that talent isn't going to mean all that much.
Hopefully, Lloyd is able to shake off this latest injury and return in full force for the regular season.

Vikings Insider Sends Clear Message on Adam Thielen Trade Rumors

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Minnesota Vikings need help at wide receiver immediately, given the upcoming three-game suspension for Jordan Addison and a string of injuries depleting J.J. McCarthy's pass-catching core. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirmed that the Vikings are "seriously exploring" veteran receivers in the trade market as Addison's replacement to begin the year, Jalen Nailor, suffered a hand injury last week. Carolina Panthers veteran Adam Thielen is considered a top target, given the homegrown Minnesotan's ties to the team and familiarity with Kevin O'Connell's offense. Read more: J.J. Do you want to spend that much on somebody you may only use in that significant of a role for a few weeks... It would be fun... I don't see it, but it would be fun." The Vikings have the cap space to take on Thielen's contract, but whether he would be willing to take a step back into the third wide receiver spot once Addison returns from suspension remains to be seen. Carolina has spent back-to-back first-round picks at the position in Xavier Legette and No. 8 overall pick Tetairoa McMillan. Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Nailor's outlook to start the season remains a major question. He is considered week-to-week with a hand injury that the team is continuing to assess. Packers Reveal Jordan Love Injury Update With Week 1 Looming

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Green Bay Packers have dealt with quite a few injuries issues already during training camp. With Week 1 of the regular season coming up quickly, Jordan Love is one of the most important injuries that fans are monitoring. Love had to undergo a surgical procedure on his thumb. Thankfully, it involves his non-throwing hand. Other injuries of note are star safety Xavier McKinney, backup running back MarShawn Lloyd, cornerback Nate Hobbs, and wide receiver Christian Watson. Read more: Dan Orlovsky Reveals Who Rams Should Target to Replace Matthew Stafford With that being said, a new update has been shared about Love. Matt LaFleur, the Packers' head coach, spoke out with a brief update about the team's franchise quarterback. Love returned to practice in limited form. "I thought it was good just to get him back out there, back in the mix, into the rhythm of playing quarterback," LaFleur said. "We did some different things with him that we haven't done in the past. I mean, we pretty much were primarily doing everything under center. So, I thought it was good work." While he is back and participating with the team, LaFleur did make it clear that Love will be "very limited" in the team's joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks. Love enters the 2025 season with huge expectations and a lot of questions. He was expected to have a breakout season in 2024, but a knee injury in Week 1 that knocked him out for two games derailed those plans. After the injury, he was never able to get back into a good rhythm. Assuming he enters the upcoming campaign fully healthy, Love will have another chance to prove that he can truly be a franchise caliber quarterback for Green Bay. Read more: Browns Receive Massive Franchise QB Prediction From ESPN On the outside looking in, the Packers' offense is loaded with talent. If Love plays up to his full potential, Green Bay should be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. There is a lot riding on Love's arm and his health this season. LaFleur's update is a good one, but he needs to be firing on all cylinders by the time the Packers take on the Lions in a couple of weeks. Through a series of contests with Packers-themed prizes, the partnership – now in year two – aims to promote and educate Packers fans about the importance of recycling batteries in order to secure America's supply of critical minerals. As part of the agreement, Batteries Plus will be the official game sponsor for Green Bay's preseason matchup against Seattle at Lambeau Field on Saturday, August 23 at 3:00pm. Proud Partners of the Green Bay PackersPackers fans who bring in used batteries to be recycled at any of the 28 Batteries Plus locations in Wisconsin during the football season will be entered for a chance to win Packers experiences and merchandise. These prizes include, but are not limited to: Tickets to all preseason and regular season home games, plus the chance to deliver the official game ball VIP pregame sideline passes for each regular season home game Bowl tickets and sideline passes if the Packers should host any postseason home game(s)* Packers-signed mini-helmets and footballs Packers Pro Shop gift cards * Prize available upon Lambeau Field hosting a Packers postseason game Batteries Plus first became a Proud Partner of the Green Bay Packers at the start of the 2024 season with a goal of reshaping battery recycling efforts across the country and inspiring communities to join the mission of doing their part. That first year proved successful in both the number of batteries recycled, and in the awareness raised about recycling batteries. In July 2024, third-party research found that just 28% of the Packers' national fanbase believed battery recycling was easy enough to incorporate into their regular recycling habits. But by the end of the inaugural season, that number had risen to 57%, reflecting the impact of the partnership's awareness efforts. That awareness quickly translated into action. During that first football season, Batteries Plus stores across Wisconsin collected 100% more batteries to be recycled than the previous year. That's an additional 100,000 pounds of lithium and other battery chemistries recycled for second life application and kept out of landfills. This year, Batteries Plus aims to double volumes again over the 2024 numbers. "The Packers organization is proud to team up with Batteries Plus once again to tackle battery recycling head-on," said Justin Wolf, Packers Director of Corporate Partnerships Sales and Activations. "The significant growth in fan awareness over the past year highlights the real progress we can make when we combine education with community passion. By joining forces once again, we can keep building on that momentum, educating fans about the importance of proper battery disposal and encouraging them to take part in recycling efforts, all while giving them the chance to score exciting Packers prizes." All fans attending the preseason game against the Seahawks will receive a complimentary magnet schedule of the Packers 2025-2026 season, courtesy of Batteries Plus. The magnet will feature the Batteries Plus logo and a QR code fans can scan to learn more about battery recycling, how to bring their batteries into a local Batteries Plus store for recycling, and to find their nearest location in Wisconsin. Additional magnet calendars will also be available at Batteries Plus locations the week following the preseason game while supplies last. Throughout the season, fans attending Packers games can also expect to see the Batteries Plus logo and battery recycling messaging displayed on video boards within Lambeau Field and the stadium Marquee signs, as well as on various digital channels. The focus of this messaging will be to raise awareness of the batteries used every day, while informing fans of how to safely and properly recycle used batteries at Batteries Plus locations. Why It MattersBatteries power nearly every aspect of our lives, from the cell phones, laptops, and smart watches we use daily, to power tools, portable power banks, e-scooters, and more. Most of these rechargeable products use lithium-ion batteries, which contain hazardous chemicals and heavy metals that are a limited resource, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and graphite. By increasing awareness and participation in battery recycling efforts, these critical minerals can be recovered and domestically repurposed for second-life application, ultimately securing America's energy independence and supporting the country's energy future. When our batteries die or lose their power, it's tempting to throw them in the trash. But improper disposal can have serious consequences, including wasting those rare materials that could otherwise be reused for generations to come, as well as safety risks. Damaged or discarded batteries can spark fires in waste facilities and landfills, which has been a growing concern in communities nationwide, underscoring the critical need for consumers to prioritize battery recycling. Continuing the MissionEach year, Batteries Plus recycles more than 52.3 million pounds of batteries, keeping thousands of tons of material in circulation and out of landfills. Just as demand for rechargeable batteries has dramatically increased in recent years, so too has the demand for Batteries Plus' recycling services of items like lithium-ion batteries used in electronic devices. With a national reach of more than 730 locations, coupled with over 30 years of expertise in battery recycling, Batteries Plus has made it a mission to help secure the domestic critical mineral supply chain through larger recycling initiatives. The brand's already well-established recycling efforts are now even stronger through this continued partnership with the Green Bay Packers, a team known for its large and passionate fanbase of millions across the country. "Batteries Plus has always been dedicated to responsibly recycling batteries in order to keep harmful substances out of our environment, secure critical resources, and reduce the risk of dangerous fires," said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus. "As a Wisconsin-based company, teaming up with the Green Bay Packers is a shared commitment to our community. Together, we're showing fans that just like the Packers protect the football, we can all protect our planet by keeping batteries out of the trash and giving them a second life here in the United States."
