The Green Bay Packers have dealt with quite a few injuries issues already during training camp. With Week 1 of the regular season coming up quickly, Jordan Love is one of the most important injuries that fans are monitoring.
Love had to undergo a surgical procedure on his thumb. Thankfully, it involves his non-throwing hand.
Other injuries of note are star safety Xavier McKinney, backup running back MarShawn Lloyd, cornerback Nate Hobbs, and wide receiver Christian Watson.

With that being said, a new update has been shared about Love.
Matt LaFleur, the Packers' head coach, spoke out with a brief update about the team's franchise quarterback. Love returned to practice in limited form.
"I thought it was good just to get him back out there, back in the mix, into the rhythm of playing quarterback," LaFleur said. "We did some different things with him that we haven't done in the past. I mean, we pretty much were primarily doing everything under center. So, I thought it was good work."
While he is back and participating with the team, LaFleur did make it clear that Love will be "very limited" in the team's joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks.
Love enters the 2025 season with huge expectations and a lot of questions. He was expected to have a breakout season in 2024, but a knee injury in Week 1 that knocked him out for two games derailed those plans. After the injury, he was never able to get back into a good rhythm.
Assuming he enters the upcoming campaign fully healthy, Love will have another chance to prove that he can truly be a franchise caliber quarterback for Green Bay.

On the outside looking in, the Packers' offense is loaded with talent. If Love plays up to his full potential, Green Bay should be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
There is a lot riding on Love's arm and his health this season. LaFleur's update is a good one, but he needs to be firing on all cylinders by the time the Packers take on the Lions in a couple of weeks.

Jerry Jones' latest comments about Micah Parsons negotiations put sides further at odds

Jerry Jones is dug in on the Micah Parsons negotiations. And two weeks before the Dallas Cowboys open the season, he didn't exactly extend an olive branch. Jones took a part of the negotiations public when he was on Michael Irvin's podcast. Jones met with Parsons privately months ago and thought he had an agreement with the star defensive end on a new deal. But Parsons' agent David Mulugheta, one of the most powerful agents in sports, wasn't involved in those negotiations. He let Jones know that he didn't care about the deal Parsons had talked about with the Cowboys owner, and according to Jones he didn't sound too pleased. "When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our ass," Jones told Irvin, with an amused look on his face. Well then. Jones calling out the agent publicly in that manner isn't going to help a standoff that has shown few signs of thawing. And time is running out before the season starts. Micah Parsons' situation still unresolved The price for Parsons won't be cheap. T.J. Watt signed an extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $41 million per season and presumably Parsons will want at least that. The acrimony seems a bit personal though, and not between the player and team. And it doesn't seem to be entirely about money; Jones said on Irvin's podcast that he offered Parsons more guaranteed money than any other non-quarterback in NFL history. Jones doesn't seem happy with Mulugheta, though an agent negotiating a player contract is obviously standard in the NFL and all sports. "Where is the least important part of this whole equation we're talking about. What is the least incremental part of the whole equation? The attorney or the agent," Jones said. "He works for Micah. He's not the principal here, in any way. In any way. They're in here to make their percentage." It's a bit of a strange stance for Jones to take, and risk not having his best defensive player for the season opener and perhaps beyond over it. Agents negotiate deals. It's their job. Jones has said that he bought the Cowboys on a handshake deal and seems to believe that Parsons should honor his, though it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. If Jones is unwilling to work with the agent, and the agent is not going to go along with a supposed handshake deal made between Parsons and Jones, then where do the two sides go from here? When will Parsons play this season? There have been other veiled threats through the process by Jones, which indicate that the whole ordeal could get even messier. He has brought up Emmitt Smith being unsigned in 1993 two games into the season before a contract was signed. That indicates Jones is willing to hold his ground even if it means that Parsons misses games. The 1993 Cowboys could afford to start in an 0-2 hole. They were one of the most talented teams ever and went on to win a Super Bowl. The 2025 Cowboys aren't on that level, especially if Parsons misses any games. Jones has also suggested that he would use the franchise tag, maybe even two, on Parsons as he did with quarterback Dak Prescott. While that would mean two very nice one-year contracts for Parsons, he wants a long-term deal. But the franchise tag gives the Cowboys leverage. Jones could drag things out a couple more years if he is willing. Jones also has said repeatedly that Parsons is under contract with the Cowboys. He has been holding in as the negotiations have stalled. Negotiations can often speed up quickly when there's a deadline, and the Sept. 4 opener is a big date on the calendar. Parsons could theoretically sign shortly before that game and still play, though with every day that passes it gets more difficult. Even for a great player like Parsons, it's hard to play in a regular-season game after missing all of training camp and the preseason. But Jones seems willing to sacrifice Parsons missing some games to make his point. And it's not like Jones' comments to Irvin get the sides closer to the finish line.

Steelers first-round pick Derrick Harmon carted off with knee injury

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft pick Derrick Harmon was carted to the locker room after the defensive end injured his knee Thursday night in the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. Harmon's knee twisted awkwardly as he was engaged with a Carolina blocker on a pass rush. He was in tears with a towel over his head as he rode on the back of a cart to the locker room. The Steelers had no immediate update on the injury except to say that Harmon would not return to the game. The former Michigan State and Oregon player was the 21st pick in April. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin elected to start a handful of starters on both sides of the ball against the Panthers, including Harmon. The rookie had been expected to start this season on a defensive line with Cameron Hayward and Keeanu Benton. Veteran Isaiahh Loudermilk is expected to see more playing time if Harmon is out a significant amount of time. The Panthers did not play their starters. ___ AP NFL:

Bill Belichick takes apparent jab at Robert Kraft, Patriots, calling North Carolina 'more cohesive'

North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick took an apparent swipe at the New England Patriots organization while explaining how he was acclimating to college football approximately 10 days before the Tar Heels opening the 2025 season versus TCU. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] While speaking to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin, Belichick compared his initial experience with college football to his 49 years coaching in the NFL. 'It's a much more cohesive, and I'd say unified, view of what we're trying to do and how we're trying to do it,' Belichick said. 'It's a lot of football, and there's not much in your way.' However, Belichick didn't just leave his thoughts there and let people interpret them as they might. He drilled down a bit further to get more specific about the obstacles he dealt with in the Patriots' front office. Decisions had to go through many tiers, cluttering the process with too many voices, starting with team owner Robert Kraft and his son, team president Jonathan Kraft. 'There's no owner, there's no owner's son, there's no cap, everything that goes with the marketing and everything else, which I'm all for that. But it's way less of what it was at that level,' Belichick continued. 'Generic NFL teams, you have the owner, president, general manager, personnel director, college director, pro director, cap guy, some other consultant, then head coach," he added. "I'd say when we had our best years in New England, we had fewer people and more of a direct vision. And as that expanded, it became harder to be successful.' Belichick was pretty clear on what he viewed as the problems in the Patriots' management structure that prevented him from continuing the success that he achieved during his first 20 years as head coach. Too many cooks in the proverbial kitchen. Volin has covered the Patriots since 2013 and likely established a comfort level with Belichick over 11 years of working with him. Would the coach have been so forthcoming with another reporter? Considering the difficulties he's had with the media since taking the job in Chapel Hill, with his girlfriend Jordon Hudson taking a key role in those interactions, Belichick has been rather quiet recently. Perhaps the coach was looking for the right opportunity to point some criticism at the Patriots after the two sides parted ways following the 2023 NFL season. Letting Belichick move on didn't look great after his replacement Jerod Mayo was fired after just one season. The Patriots changed their front office structure upon hiring Mike Vrabel, the former Tennessee Titans head coach who played under Belichick and won three Super Bowls. Yet there seems to be just as many hurdles to clear for football decision as the setup that frustrated Belichick. Another of Robert Kraft's sons, Josh Kraft, left his post on the team's board of directors. Ryan Cowden joined the front office as vice president of player personnel, working under executive VP of player personnel Eliot Wolf. Pat Stewart remains as director of pro personnel with senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith. Belichick may look at that hierarchy as similar to what prevented him from continuing his success in New England, even if some names have changed. He obviously still harbors hard feelings about it. Whether or not Vrabel is able to navigate that bureaucracy better than his mentor did remains to be seen.
