‘Sourashtra community needs representation in TN assembly'
Talking to reporters, K R M Kishore Kumar, a retired DGP and the convenor of the committee, said the aim of the S-PAC was to make the voice of the Sourashtra community to be heard in Tamil Nadu state assembly. "The community historically has contributed greatly for the development of Tamil Nadu, and there have been several political leaders as well in the past from the community. But, at present, there is not even one MLA from the community in the state.
Linguistic minority communities need representation and should be given due importance across political parties."
The S-PAC resolved to demand parties to allocate assembly constituencies such as Madurai South, Thiruparankundram, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Dindigul, and Salem to Sourashtra community candidates. "We are not forming a separate political party, but we believe that the Tamil community and political parties will continue to embrace us just as they have done decades," said Kishore Kumar. He added that there are around 15 lakh potential voters from the community in the state.
The S-PAC will soon be making representations to various political parties on this matter. Earlier, the S-PAC members took out a procession from the T M Soundararajan statue in Munichalai to the consultative meeting venue.

The harassment inflicted through such politically motivated actions is deeply deplorable. I will never forget the mental agony and harassment that my family and I endured because of this. " Siddaramaiah added that the SC's remarks personally resonated with him and reflected a broader sentiment among the public. A.P. DGP asks probationary IPS officers to gain knowledge on latest technologies to prevent crimes
Twenty eight probationary IPS officers, who are undergoing training in Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, visited Andhra Pradesh on Monday, as part of study and cultural tour. The young IPS officers met Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta at the police headquarters at Mangalagiri. The DGP explained about the measures to check crime, Sakthi App, technology to nab criminals, traffic control, use of artificial intelligence (AI), cybercrime prevention, drugs and narcotics, and measures to check crime against women in the State. Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta also asked the probationary IPS officers to gain knowledge on latest technology to prevent crimes. He asked them to learn the local language and go into the public to check crime and maintain law and order. Earlier, the A.P. CRDA officials gave a power point presentation on the capital Amaravati to the probationary IPS officers. Additional DGP (Law and Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy, IGP (Operations and Technical Services) Ch. Srikanth, IGP B. Raja Kumari, EAGLE head and IGP Ake Ravi Krishna, DIG G. Satya Yesubabu and others shared their experiences and explained some case studies to the young police officers.

DYFI calls for monitoring committee in Coimbatore to prevent unfair expulsion of students from schools
The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has urged the School Education Department to form a district-level monitoring committee in Coimbatore to prevent students from being forced to discontinue schooling under the pretext of poor academic performance. Members of the organisation submitted a petition to the Coimbatore Collector on Monday, highlighting their concerns. In the petition, DYFI alleged that some government higher secondary schools are pressuring students with low performance to obtain Transfer Certificates (TCs) in order to maintain a 100% pass rate. Students are reportedly told to assist their fathers at work or to enrol in ITIs instead of continuing formal education. The organisation also raised concerns about discriminatory remarks made to students from linguistic minority communities. In some cases, teachers allegedly questioned parents for choosing Tamil-medium education, suggesting their children would fare better in their mother tongue—an approach DYFI said was rooted in bias. Such practices, the outfit said, undermine the Tamil Nadu government's efforts to reduce school dropouts. It demanded disciplinary action against teachers involved and called for the formation of a monitoring panel to safeguard students' right to education.
