Air Chief visits Artificial Limb Centre, meets air warrior who was injured in Op Sindoor
Artificial Limb Centre (ALC) Pune, a premier tri-services institution of the Armed Forces Medical Services, was established in 1944. Those who receive treatment and rehabilitation at the centre include serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their dependents. Paramilitary forces like Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and patients from the civil background are also provided with necessary prostheses and orthoses. Patients from neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh have also been provided with rehabilitative care at the centre.
A post on X by the Indian Air Force on Wednesday read: 'Chief of the Air Staff visited the Artificial Limb Centre, Pune, wherein he met Corporal Varun Kumar who suffered injuries during Op Sindoor. He utilised this opportunity to interact with other patients and got briefed on the activities of the centre. The Chief of Air Staff appreciated the Commandant, doctors and the staff of Artificial Limb Centre for their excellent service and dedication.'

Corporal Varun Kumar sustained grievous injuries due to an explosion during Operation Sindoor. After amputation at the military hospital, he was brought to the ACL. After receiving an artificial limb, he is under rehabilitation at the dedicated Upper Limb Rehabilitation Laboratory.
Earlier this year in January, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi inaugurated the newly constructed Upper Limb Training Lab, a significant enhancement to the ALC's capabilities in providing tailored rehabilitation for upper limb amputees. The lab is playing a crucial role in furthering the centre's mission to offer the highest quality of care and support to soldiers and veterans.

Many investors comb through Berkshire's filings every quarter because they like to follow Buffett's moves. His record of trouncing the S&P 500 for decades has inspired legions of followers. The filing doesn't make clear who at Berkshire handled each investment. Besides Buffett, Ted Weschler and Todd Combs also pick stocks, but they generally handle smaller portfolios and Combs also serves as Geico's CEO. But Buffett has had a hard time finding stocks or any other investments in recent years that he wants to invest much of Berkshire's $344 billion cash in. Berkshire's Nucor stake of 6.6 million shares was the biggest new investment worth roughly $857 million at the end of the quarter. Shares of that company rose more than 6% in extended after-hours trading. The Lennar investment was worth nearly $800 million. While the DR Horton stake was much smaller worth $191.5 million. Those companies' stocks also saw gains in late trading Buffett already knows quite a lot about the home building business because Berkshire owns the nation's largest manufactured homebuilder, Clayton Homes. Besides stocks, Berkshire owns dozens of companies in a variety of industries including Geico insurance, BNSF railroad, several major utilities and an assortment of manufacturing and retail companies. The Omaha, Nebraska-based company's holdings include many well-known brands like See's Candy and Dairy Queen.

US company contributes to IIT-K new ward
Kanpur: Co-founders of Opalescent IT Solutions Inc, a US-based company, Manoj Gupta and Neeraj Gupta, contributed funds for an eight-bed ward for economically weaker section patients at the upcoming Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology (GSMST), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, through the IIT-K Foundation, a US-based non-profit organisation. The contribution has been made as tribute to their father, late MC Gupta, who served as Superintendent at IIT-K from 1961 to 1997 as well as to underscore the family's enduring connection to the institute. Gupta was honoured with the Long and Satisfactory Service Award in 1987. The new ward will be named in memory of the donor's late parents, Rukmani Gupta and MC Gupta.
