Lou Malnati's and Portillo's have come together for the Chicago-iest collab ever

Time Out18-07-2025
Two of Chicago's culinary heavyweights, Lou Malnati's and Portillo's, are back at it with a new collab that screams Chicago pride. As of this week, you can order the limited-edition Chicago Dog Deep Dish Pizza at 21 full-service Lou Malnati's locations nationwide. But act fast: it's only available while supplies last.
This isn't the first time these local legends have teamed up—in 2022, they created an Italian beef deep dish that was shipped frozen. But this time, they're taking it straight to the dining room with a mashup that's both bold and bizarre: a deep-dish pizza packed with all the classic Chicago hot dog fixings.
This crosstown collaboration starts with a poppy seed–flecked deep-dish crust (giving hot dog bun vibes) layered with mozzarella, canned plum tomatoes and diced tomatoes (no ketchup of course). It's then topped with sliced Portillo's hot dogs, sport peppers, pickles, onions and celery salt. When it comes out of the oven, it gets the final flourish: green relish and a drizzle of bright yellow mustard. It's a Chicago-style dog, but baked into a buttery, tomatoey deep dish. It's only offered in a small size, but it's all you need for a Chicago-style feast.
"At Portillo's, Chicago-style hot dogs are more than just a menu item—they're a part of our DNA," said Vallory McCormack, Director of Marketing for Portillo's. "We're making sure everyone can join in on the celebration of the iconic hot dog that helped make Portillo's a household name."
Whether you're a deep-dish diehard, a Chicago dog purist or just in it for the novelty, this is the mashup you didn't know you needed. Available for a limited time, it's your chance to taste two of Chicago's greatest hits in one cheesy, mustard-topped bite.

How Zara Tindall went from wholesome horsey type to style leader

'Riding with polish and dressing with panache, Princess Anne's daughter is a vision on and off the horse.' That's the verdict on Zara Tindall 's style from the Tatler 2025 best-dressed list, which was released today before being fully unveiled in the Condé Nast society magazine's September issue. 'I think Zara Tindall's recent style evolution has been incredible – she looks so good,' says Tatler style editor Chandler Tregaskes, having presided over the annual list (which he says takes the whole year to plan). 'I adored her monochromatic Laura Green and Juliette Botterill look at Royal Ascot this year – so chic – and am thrilled to celebrate her in our list for 2025.' Tindall is number seven on the 10-strong preview of the list, which is topped by 'fun, young, society-favourite' half-sisters Lady Lola Bute and Jazzy de Lisser. Other honourable mentions go to Princess Alexia of the Netherlands at number five and Rocco Ritchie, son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie, in third place, the budding artist being known for his take on traditional suiting. But far more interesting than the abundance of lesser known bright young things on the list is the presence of Tindall, née Phillips. The 44-year-old is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips, as well as the eldest granddaughter of the late Elizabeth II. An accomplished equestrian, she won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the year after she married English former rugby union player, Mike Tindall. During her younger years, Tindall's style largely reflected her wholesome country upbringing – at Gatcombe Park, Princess Anne's Gloucestershire estate. Like her mother, her love of equestrianism has also influenced her sartorial choices, with a focus on utility and practicality likely trumping fashion trends. But over the last few years, as her presence on Tatler's list attests, her style has evolved to include a somewhat more playful approach, alongside elegant labels and suitably regal touches. 'Her recent wardrobe hits have been nothing short of spectacular,' writes Tregaskesin in Tatler, 'from the perfect Rebecca Vallance tea dresses at Ascot to the tailored Fairfax & Favor pieces at Badminton.' Another notable recent style win for the royal was this year's Cheltenham Festival; with the help of her trusted stylist Annie Miall, Tindall wore a selection of outfits that showcased great British brands through marvellous millinery, immaculate tailoring and on-trend touches. On 'Style Wednesday', she wore a sharp pinstriped suit, paired with a burgundy roll neck and a matching Bow & Arrow hat from Juliette Botterill (the Princess of Wales wore the same in navy in 2023). Another look saw her combine an elegant coat from Hobbs – the 'Livia' wool coat in kelp green – with a Fedora-style hat, a quilted black 'Lottie' bag from Aspinal and heeled 'Regina' knee-high boots from Fairfax & Favor, a long-time favourite brand of which she is an official ambassador. 'Zara has an innate sense of what works for each occasion – from design-led performance pieces for day-to-day utility, to tailored outerwear and elevated accessories for formal events,' says Marcus Fairfax Fountaine, co-founder of Fairfax & Favor. 'She epitomises British style with an impeccable eye for detail and a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship.' This is hardly a surprise – she is, after all, the daughter of the Princess Royal, who is known for her commitment to re-wearing pieces that endure for decades. Tindall has named Princess Anne as a key style influence, as have plenty of high fashion figures. Designer Silvia Venturini Fendi once dubbed Anne the 'the chicest woman in the world', deserving of her place on the mood-board for the autumn/winter 2025 Fendi menswear collection. The Princess is also something of a style pin-up for Gen Z, who admire her sustainably minded approach and stylishly eccentric accessories (see the Oakley shades she favours). Sartorial self-assurance, it seems, runs in the family. With plenty of maternal inspiration to draw on, Tindall will no doubt retain her well-deserved place on best-dressed lists for years to come.

The tattoo, spotted by keen-eyed fans on one of the models' left leg in one of the promotional images, appears to feature two people engaged in a sex act. The image was quickly deleted by the club when fans started talking about the unfortunate oversight. One account re-posted the image on X with the caption "Interesting leg tattoo, that", garnering over 30,000 likes. Another asked: "How did the media team not catch that?" The kit itself is predominantly white and red and is based on the St George's Cross and its historic symbolism with the club. The cross is a symbol of the city of Genoa, and appears both on the city's coat of arms and Genoa CFC's club badge. The launch video, filmed in London, celebrates the English roots of the side, which is the oldest football club in Italy. It was originally formed as a cricket and football club by English sailors in 1893. 4 Locations such as Spensley walk have a special significance to the Italian clubs. "Born by the port, shaped by the sea, carried by Genovese pride, they cross-walked straight onto the pitch." Fans can't believe their eyes as WWE legend the Undertaker unveils Serie A minnows' kit in 'greatest collab ever' The video heavily features the Kirby estate in Bermondsey, known as the 'most patriotic estate' in London for its prominent displays of the St. George's cross. Another location in the video is Hackney's Spensley walk, featured in honour of James Richardson Spensley, who championed the footballing division of the sports club in 1897, and is known as a founding father of football in Italy. The club are no strangers to kit launch shenanigans- they unveiled an all-black third kit in November last year through a launch video featuring WWE legend the Undertaker.

Plan a day out with your kids with the perfect Edinburgh Fringe Festival guide

Visiting the Edinburgh Fringe with kids can be tricky, but with some planning, it can be a fun experience for the whole family Navigating the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with children in tow can seem like a challenge, but with a little planning, it can be a memorable experience for the whole family. ‌ As thousands prepare to descend on the capital for the world's largest arts festival, many parents are already weighing up how to juggle shows, food and sightseeing without anyone getting overwhelmed. Here's a guide to help families make the most of their Fringe visit, Edinburgh Live reports. ‌ Where to Eat Finding somewhere to refuel can be one of the trickiest parts of the Fringe, especially with hungry kids and crowded venues. While the city centre eateries tend to get packed, there are quieter options if you're willing to take a short stroll. ‌ The food trucks at George Square offer a variety of meals on the go, and nearby Meadows Park is the perfect spot for a peaceful break. Holyrood Park also offers open space for a picnic, while those venturing slightly further afield can find calm at Inverleith Park. Stockbridge, a short walk from there, is home to relaxed dining options like Civerinos and Café Andaluz. ‌ For indoor dining, Loudons near the Canongate serves family-friendly brunch and lunch in a bright, spacious setting. The Scran and Scallie in Stockbridge has a well-reviewed lunch menu and even a children's playroom, ideal for giving parents a much-needed breather. In Haymarket, Pomo Pizzeria delivers classic Italian dishes with plenty of kid-friendly pizza options. Check out the map below for the quiet spots in the city. ‌ Choosing Shows With thousands of performances on offer, choosing what to see can feel overwhelming. But part of the magic of the Fringe is taking a chance, not every show will be a hit, and that's all part of the experience. Children should be given the chance to pick a few shows themselves. Most performances run under an hour, which keeps things manageable even if a particular act doesn't capture everyone's attention. ‌ And families shouldn't feel confined to purely children's shows, many family-friendly productions are suitable for all ages. The Circus Hub on the Meadows is always a safe bet for families, offering a mix of acrobatics, comedy and spectacle. ‌ Other recommended picks this year include Monsterrrr! with Trygve Wakenshaw at Assembly George Square, You're an Instrument! at Pleasance Courtyard, and The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl at Assembly Roxy. It's best to plan for two to three shows in one day, leaving plenty of time for breaks and travel between venues. Many shows offer family ticket options, which can be found on the Fringe's official website. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Parents are advised to avoid booking shows back-to-back and to check venue names carefully, as several locations have similar titles but are miles apart. Fringe venues can be spread across the city, so factor in time for toilets, snacks, and the occasional detour. A venue map is available on the official Fringe website to help plan efficient routes. Sightseeing with the Family For first-time visitors, sightseeing can add another layer to the experience, but be warned, popular attractions fill up fast and the crowds can be dense. If families are planning to visit places like Camera Obscura or Dynamic Earth, it's best to book in advance and allow extra time to get there. These spots can provide a fun break between shows and give children a taste of Edinburgh beyond the stage.
