Anti-Terror Body Carries Out Raids In Case Linked To Lashkar Proxy Behind Pahalgam Terror Attack
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted raids in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar and Handwara districts in connection with a terror funding case.
The case is linked to the banned terror group The Resistance Front (TRF), which is linked to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The TRF's terrorists had killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam in April in one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent times.
Two suspects were earlier arrested in the same case.
In May 2025, the NIA took over the investigation from the state police. The raids were carried out at the houses of the arrested accused, where documents linked to the case were recovered.
During the investigation, the NIA uncovered a foreign funding connection, which is currently under detailed scrutiny.
It also came to light that the terrorist groups have been inciting young people in the state to engage in anti-national activities and providing them financial support.
The NIA said the investigation is continuing.
Earlier this month, counter-terror operations by the security forces led to the killing of over two dozen terrorists in separate encounters across Jammu and Kashmir.
The operations, carried out jointly by the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police, targeted both foreign and local terrorists.
Many of the terrorists were Pakistani nationals, while nine were local recruits. According to intelligence sources, the overall number of active local terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir dropped following these operations.

NIA takes terror-suspect, woman accomplice into custody from two districts of Andhra Pradesh
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials took a man named Kothwal Noor Mohammad (40), suspected of having links with terrorist groups in Pakistan, into custody in Dharmavaram town of Sri Sathya Sai district in the early hours of Saturday (August 16, 2025.) According to information, Mohammad settled in Dharmavaram town about 15 years ago and started eking out a livelihood by working in local hotels. Currently, he is working at a tea stall located at Market Street. The NIA sleuths, along with a team of local police of Dharmavaram, swooped at his residence at the local Kota Street in the early hours and took Mohammad into custody. Simultaneously, an NIA team escorted by the local police, took a woman (35) into custody from her residence in Tadipatri town of neighbouring Anantapur district in the early hours. The investigation team found that Mohammad was frequently in touch with the woman, and the nature of the communication between the duo is found to be suspicious. Meanwhile, a police officer in Puttaparthi confirmed that Mohammad, who is presently residing at a rented portion, recently purchased land in Dharmavaram town and started constructing a house with luxurious features. The Voter-ID issued to Mohammad said his father's name is Kothwal Ameer. A circle-inspector, who extended local logistics to the NIA team, said that except for minor details of Mohammad, such as his nature, vocation and his residence, there is no information pertaining to his background, such as to which place he belonged to or whether he is married or not. However, the tea stall owner and the neighbourhood had informed the police that the suspect was generally mild mannered, but the act of sudden purchase of a big property came under public and police scanner as well.

'Frequent calls, WhatsApp messages': NIA, police grill man with suspected Pakistan terror links; SIM cards seized
TIRUPATI: Officials from the NIA (National Investigation Agency), along with the Sri Sathya Sai district police wing, have taken a Dharmavaram resident with suspected links to terror outfits in Pakistan into custody for questioning. According to reliable sources, the man, identified as Noor Ahmed, who works at a tea stall on Market Street in Dharmavaram, was reportedly making frequent phone calls to Pakistan and allegedly sending WhatsApp messages to suspected terror operatives in the neighbouring country.
