Bruno Fernandes has released a statement regarding the Saudi move for which he was in the media for few days. There were reports that the Man United's captain is considering leaving the club to join Al Hilal who is offering them a huge deal. However, he has officially rejected it and also made a comment about it.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has officially addressed the recent speculation linking him with a sensational move to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. The Portuguese midfielder was reportedly the subject of a lucrative offer from the Saudi giants, sparking rumours of a potential Old Trafford exit.
However, Fernandes has now put those rumours to rest with a firm statement rejecting the move. Speaking on the matter, he said:
'There was an opportunity, Al Hilal president called me, but I rejected. They were waiting for me, then I spoke to Amorim (Man United's manager) and decided not to go. Man United didn't want to sell me.'
As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 30-year-old confirmed he was contacted directly by Al Hilal but chose to remain at Manchester United after discussions with new manager Rúben Amorim.
Fernandes' decision to stay comes as a relief to the Red Devils' faithful, especially with the club preparing for a crucial season under new leadership.

Ronaldo won't play at Club World Cup despite interest from 'quite a few' teams

Cristiano Ronaldo says he's almost certain he will not be playing at the Club World Cup, dealing a blow to FIFA president Gianni Infantino's hopes of having one of soccer's biggest attractions at the tournament. The Portugal captain confirmed Saturday that he received "quite a few" offers from participating clubs to play for them at the tournament starting June 14, but had decided against accepting any of them. "Some things make sense to talk about, other things don't, and, as a person says, you can't take part in everything," Ronaldo said. "You have to think about the short, medium and long term. It's a decision practically made on my part not to go to the Club World Cup, but I've had quite a few invitations to go." The 40-year-old soccer great was speaking in Munich a day before Portugal's Nations League final against Spain. Infantino had suggested last month that Ronaldo, who is still contracted to Saudi team Al-Nassr until the end of June, could switch to one of the 32 clubs taking part in the Club World Cup because of a unique transfer window created for the tournament. Ronaldo did little to quell that speculation when he posted " this chapter is over " after Al-Nassr's last Saudi Pro League game of the season. He was linked with several Club World Cup participants, including Brazil's Palmeiras. A switch to Al-Nassr's crosstown rival Al-Hilal — the one Saudi club that qualified — was also mooted as a potential solution to having Ronaldo play at the tournament, where his great rival Lionel Messi will be playing with Inter Miami. FIFA would have welcomed the boost that Ronaldo's presence could provide for ticket sales, though such a switch to a bitter local rival for a short period would be unthinkable for players in Europe's leagues. Both Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are among the four big Saudi clubs backed by the country's Public Investment Fund, which has a 75% stake in each. On Thursday, FIFA announced PIF as an " official partner " of the Club World Cup. Saudi state money is also effectively funding the tournament's broadcasting deal that has largely backed its $1 billion prize fund being shared among the participants. "This is irrelevant right now," Ronaldo first said when asked Saturday about the Club World Cup. "It makes no sense to talk about anything other than the national team." Ronaldo fired Portugal into the Nations League final on Wednesday with a 2-1 win over host nation Germany. His winning goal was his record-extending 137th for Portugal. If he plays Sunday he will make his record-extending 221st national team appearance. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Yemen's al-Qaeda leader threatens Trump, Musk over Israel's war on Gaza

The leader of al-Qaeda's Yemen branch has targeted US President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk over United States backing for Israel's ongoing war on the Gaza Strip and its besieged Palestinian population. 'There are no red lines after what happened and is happening to our people in Gaza,' said Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki in a half-hour video message that was spread online Saturday by supporters of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Yemeni branch of the armed group. 'Reciprocity is legitimate,' he said. Al-Awlaki's video message also included calls for so-called lone wolves to assassinate leaders in Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf Arab states over the war, which has decimated Gaza, killing at least 54,772 Palestinians over the past 20 months. The message featured images of Trump and Musk, US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, as well as logos of Musk's businesses – including electric carmaker Tesla. Born in 2009 from the merger of al-Qaeda's Yemeni and Saudi factions, AQAP is completely distinct from Yemen's Houthi rebel group, which controls most of the country and agreed to a ceasefire with the US earlier this grew and developed amid the chaos of Yemen's war, which has pitted the Houthis against a Saudi-led coalition backing the government since 2015. Al-Awlaki became the group's leader in 2024, replacing predecessor Khalid Batarfi, who died that year. He already has a $6m US bounty on his head, having, as Washington puts it, 'publicly called for attacks against the United States and its allies'. Though believed to be weakened in recent years due to infighting and suspected US drone strikes killing its leaders, the group had been considered the most dangerous branch of al-Qaeda still operating since the US killing of founder Osama bin Laden in 2011. United Nations experts estimate AQAP has between 3,000 and 4,000 active fighters and passive members, claiming that it raises money by robbing banks and money exchange shops, as well as by smuggling weapons, counterfeiting currencies and conducting ransom operations. The Houthis have previously denied working with AQAP, though the latter's targeting of the Houthis has dropped in recent years, while its fighters keep attacking the Saudi-led coalition forces. Now, with its focus on Israel's war on Gaza, AQAP appears to be following the lead of the Houthi group, which has launched missile attacks on Israel and targeted commercial vessels moving through the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians under Israeli fire. 'As the Houthis gain popularity as leaders of the 'Arab and Muslim world's resistance' against Israel, al-Awlaki seeks to challenge their dominance by presenting himself as equally concerned about the situation in Gaza,' said Mohammed al-Basha, a Yemen expert with the Basha Report risk advisory firm. 'For a national security and foreign policy community increasingly disengaged from Yemen, this video is a clear reminder: Yemen still matters,' he said.

Chelsea approach Dortmund for Jamie Gittens transfer, seven-year contract agreed

Chelsea have submitted an official proposal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and have agreed a seven-year contract with the forward. The 20-year-old is keen on a move and only wants to join Chelsea, who hold a long-standing interest in the England Under-21 international. The Athletic reported on June 3 that Gittens and Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho were on Chelsea's list of winger targets in the summer window. Advertisement Chelsea's move comes after the club opted against making Jadon Sancho's 2024-25 season-long loan deal a permanent move, having scored five goals in 41 appearances during his move from Manchester United. Bayern Munich had previously expressed an interested in a summer move for Gittens, but a bid never materialised. Gittens joined Dortmund in 2020 from Manchester City's youth system and has made 106 first-team appearances for the German club, with whom he is contracted through to 2028. 2024-25 was a breakthrough season for the England Under-21 international, who scored 12 goals for Dortmund including four in the Champions League. Predominantly a left winger, Gittens has also been deployed in an attacking midfield role. He is yet to be capped at senior level with England, with whom he won the European Championship in 2022 at under-19 level. (Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images)
