About the game
Chrono Odyssey is set in
Setera
, a world where time doesn't behave normally. Think past, present, and even other dimensions colliding. Executive Producer Yoon Sangtae says the game draws inspiration from cosmic horror films like Prometheus, the alien swarm of StarCraft's Zerg, and even classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger.
Live Events
At the heart of the game is a powerful tool called the Chronotector, which lets players manipulate time itself. You can uncover hidden paths, unlock secrets from the past, and even get glimpses of the future. This isn't just another fetch-quest MMO. Instead of following a strict main storyline, players shape their own adventure.
Here's what makes Chrono Odyssey different:
No fixed roles: You're not stuck being just a tank, healer, or damage dealer. Play how you want.
Active combat: Dodge, parry, and switch between two weapons in real-time.
Explore and craft your way to max level—even without fighting.
Time-travel puzzles and dungeons add variety beyond combat.
In the beta, players will test solo challenges like Chrono Gates (intense one-on-one battles) and Trials (puzzle-filled time adventures), plus co-op missions like Expedition Dungeons (3-player challenges) and Region Bosses (big, multi-party fights).
The world is powered by
Unreal Engine 5
, bringing lifelike environments with surreal touches. From strange creatures to shifting timelines, the visual experience is just as ambitious as the gameplay.
Chrono Odyssey also includes content that falls under the Exploration/Adventure category. Labyrinths are twisted rifts filled with puzzles, offering a break from combat, revealing secrets, and rewarding players at the end with a 'special treasure'. Time Portals, as you can guess from the name, are doors into the past where players gather materials and learn more about Setera's history.
Lastly, Bounty Hunting brings back the focus on combat, as players are asked to track down and take down specific targets.
Sangtae says this beta won't be the final version of the game, but rather, a chance to improve it with help from the community. 'This is just the beginning,' he says. More regions, classes, and time-based content are coming.
This isn't just an MMORPG—it's a journey through time itself.

Witcher 4's 60fps tech demo sparks hope for GTA 6 performance on PS5
Source: Rockstar Games A recent tech demo for The Witcher 4 has gotten people excited, especially fans who are waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6. Presented at the State of Unreal 2025 event, the demo showed The Witcher 4 playing at 60fps with ray tracing on a default PlayStation 5. This achievement has raised the question of whether other demanding games such as GTA 6 would be capable of such performance on next-gen consoles. Witcher 4's tech demo sparks GTA 6 frame rate expectations The Witcher 4 - UE 5.6 Tech Demo | State of Unreal 2025 The Witcher 4 demo, developed with Unreal Engine 5.6, showcased hero Ciri traversing verdant woods and chock-full medieval towns, all of which were rendered in breathtaking detail at 60fps with ray tracing enabled. The announcement came at Epic Games' State of Unreal 2025 presentation and immediately rang in optimism throughout the gaming world. Many believed that this kind of optimization would be applied to other giant open-world titles, particularly Rockstar's GTA 6, which is infamous for pushing technical limits. But CD Projekt Red explained that the demo was a technical demonstration rather than representative final gameplay. Nevertheless, its silky-smooth performance on base PS5 hardware hints that next-gen games can do more than thought before, based on engine efficiency and hardware use. Why GTA 6 might not do the same, at least yet Even with the optimism, experts caution that GTA 6 cannot be expected to ship with a 60fps mode on PS5. The engine of the game is built around Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), which is deeply integrated and not scalable. This renders it difficult to offer a performance mode without significantly sacrificing the game's visuals. Even the PS5 Pro will struggle to maintain 60fps from CPU restrictions and the simulation-intensive nature of GTA 6. Additionally, Rockstar's official trailers have been capped at 30fps, furthering expectations of a 30fps launch. Developer recorded clips at higher frame rates are not representative of real-time console gaming. While The Witcher 4 tech demo shows that 60fps open-world experiences are possible on PS5, GTA 6 may not be able to replicate that performance at launch. Until Rockstar confirms otherwise, players should manage expectations and be prepared for a 30fps experience, at least in the early stages. Sony PlayStation's State of Play returns on June 4: Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, and other major updates expected
Sony is hosting a State of Play showcase on Wednesday, June 4 at 5PM ET/2PM PT, featuring updates on upcoming PlayStation 5 games in a 40+ minute livestream on Twitch and YouTube. The presentation promises "news and updates on must-play games coming to PS5" and will highlight "a selection of great games from creators across the globe," according to Sony content communications manager Tim Turi in a PlayStation Blog post. The showcase is expected to feature updates on several highly anticipated titles. Ghost of Yotei , Sucker Punch's PlayStation 5 exclusive sequel launching in October, appears likely to receive significant coverage. Death Stranding 2 : On The Beach from renowned developer Hideo Kojima may also make an appearance. Other potential showcases include Insomniac's Wolverine game and projects from Sony's internal studios including Santa Monica Studio (God of War), Bend Studio (Days Gone), and Guerrilla Games, which is developing a Horizon multiplayer spin-off. Sony-owned Bungie's Marathon could appear, though recent art plagiarism controversies may limit its presence. External partnerships may also feature prominently, with games like Phantom Blade Zero potentially receiving updates. Sony's new PlayStation studio teamLFG, announced last month, might debut details about its live service project. The State of Play joins an exceptionally busy week for gaming, coinciding with the Switch 2 launch and preceding Summer Game Fest on June 6 and Xbox's showcase on June 8. This concentrated schedule reflects the industry's continued adaptation to the post-E3 landscape, where publishers distribute major announcements across multiple independent showcases rather than a single trade show.
