Operation Sindoor was 'finest example' of commitment to defend 'Swaraj': Amit Shah
Speaking after the unveiling of an equestrian statue of Maratha statesman and general Peshwa Bajirao I at the National Defence Academy (NDA) here, the BJP leader also said whenever he is plagued by negative thoughts, he thinks of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bajirao.
The NDA was the most appropriate place for Bajirao's memorial as it is an institution where military leadership is trained, Shah said."Whenever negative thoughts come to my mind, I usually think about 'Bal' (young) Shivaji and Peshwa Bajirao, thinking that they were able to establish a 'Swaraj' (self-rule or sovereign state) amid adverse conditions," he said.The responsibility to defend the Swaraj now lies with 140 crore Indians, Shah added.
"When it was time to put up a fight to establish a Swaraj, we did it. When fighting will be required to defend the Swaraj, our forces and leadership will definitely demonstrate it, and Operation Sindoor was its finest example," he said.Paying tributes to Bajirao I (1700 to 1740), Shah said if the battle for independence started by Shivaji Maharaj and taken forward by the Peshwas for 100 years not been fought, "India's basic structure would have ceased to exist." "In his life of 40 years, Peshwa Bajirao scripted immortal history which no other person could write," he added. Bajirao, who became 'Peshwa' or prime minister of the Maratha state at the age of 19, is credited with the expansion of the Maratha rule in central and northern India.
After the event, Shah also interacted with NDA cadets.

'An important lesson is the importance of C4 ISR and civil-military functions. There is a lot to be done as far as this is concerned. When DGMO-level talks were on, Pakistan actually was mentioning that we know that such and such vector is primed and ready for action. We would request you to perhaps pull it back. They were getting live inputs from China. That is one place we really need to move fast,' said Lt Gen Singh. What is C4 ISR? C4ISR stands for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance. It is a military term that refers to a collection of systems and technologies designed to enhance situational awareness, streamline communication, and ensure seamless coordination among various units, ultimately enabling informed and effective decision-making during combat operations. Lt General Singh mentioned how Pakistan was getting help from Chinese satellites. China has deployed several reconnaissance/ surveillance satellites in the past few years compared to India while ISRO has to catch up with Beijing. How equipped is India compared to Israel and America? Israel has a strong air defence system that includes Irone dome, Arrow, David's Sling and America's THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defence) while the United States is also preparing for a multi-layered air defence system named Golden Dome. As for India, given its vast area and location, it needs an air defence system capable of protecting the whole nation. Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh highlighted the need for a similar, rather more powerful air defence system that can take on both China and Pakistan. 'There is a need for a robust air defence system. Our population centres need to be protected. We don't have the luxury of Israel's Iron Dome and a number of other air defence systems. We don't have such a system as our country is vast and such things cost a lot of money. This time, our population centres were not quite addressed, but next time, we need to be prepared for that,' he said.

India is planning to host Olympics 2036 and is working to increase the medal tally, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday as he inaugurated the Jairaj Sports and Convention Centre built by the Shri Poona Gujarati Bandhu Samaj. During his address after the inauguration ceremony, Shah said India will become the world's No. 1 country by 2047, marking the centenary of the nation's Independence. 'Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is making progress by leaps and bounds in all sectors, ranging from the Chandrayaan mission to start-ups, health to education, sports to research,' he said. Talking about the convention centre, Shah said, 'The 2.5 lakh square feet facility at Jairaj complex represents the Gujarati community's commitment to the cause.
