Official: Como sign Ramon from Real Madrid in complicated agreement

Yahoo2 days ago
Como have officially signed defender Jacobo Ramon from Real Madrid on a permanent transfer, in a deal similar to that of Nico Paz, with several buy-back clauses.
The central defender turned 20 in January and is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, moving all the way up the various teams.
Ramon has represented Spain at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.
'Jacobo is a young player with great prospects,' Como coach Cesc Fabregas told the club website.
'He comes from one of the most competitive youth academies in the world, where he has been able to hone his skills, and we are confident he will have a very positive impact on our team.'
Why Ramon is owned by both Como and Real Madrid

A statement from Real Madrid merely confirmed that they had 'reached an agreement for the transfer' of the player to Como, but gave no further details.
The reality is a little more complicated, as Como are expected to pay circa €2.5m plus add-ons for his signature.
However, Real Madrid are owed 50 per cent of any future sale fee and have three different buy-back options in case they want to bring him to the Bernabeu.

This is the same structure that allowed Como to sign Nico Paz, as he had an option for Real Madrid to recall for €8m in June 2025.
That rises to €9m in 2026 and €10m in 2027 before it expires completely.
This complicated system allows Como to develop the players by giving them regular time in Serie A, but also for Real Madrid to potentially reap the rewards at a later date.
In the past, it would've been called a co-ownership deal, but those formulas were banned several years ago.

Real Madrid summer signing set for a starting role ahead of club captain

Real Madrid roped in Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool back in June, even paying a small compensation fee to Liverpool instead of waiting for his contract to expire so that he can play at the FIFA Club World Cup. Now, with Dani Carvajal having recovered from his ACL injury and back to full fitness, Real Madrid have a competition brewing in the right-back position heading into the new season. Trent to start, Carvajal will compete Now, according to AS, Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to start the season in the starting XI for Real Madrid under manager Xabi Alonso. But how the situation will evolve over the coming months remains uncertain as Dani Carvajal is ready to challenge for his place. The coaching staff has accepted that rotations will be necessary, but eventually, one will play more. At present, no one inside the club dares to predict who will rack up more minutes over the season. Dani Carvajal has recovered from his ACL injury. (Photo by) In the short term, Trent appears to have the edge, but one can never count against Carvajal's experience, quality, and leadership. After all, before his injury, the Real Madrid captain was performing at an elite level. The two players offer contrasting profiles. Carvajal is clearly the stronger defender, with better positioning and one-on-one ability in attack. Yet the coaching staff greatly appreciate the technical qualities that Trent brings to transitions. In Alonso's system, full-backs are expected to function like midfielders – a role that suits Trent more naturally than Carvajal. His contribution to build-up play is highly valued. So, heading into the new season, Trent is set to feature as the starting right-back in Alonso's team, but Carvajal will be pushing hard to reclaim his spot.

Sevilla outcasted Premier League goalkeeper as shock option

New Sevilla boss Matías Almeyda is planning some urgent last minute moves in the La Liga summer transfer window. The Andalucians have been hamstrung by no European qualification and ongoing financial issues which as impacted Almeyda's ability to spend on new faces. As Suso and Saul Niguez moved on from the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, only Alfon Gonzalez and Gabriel Suazo have come in, both as free transfers. However, the new man in charge is looking to bolster his goal keeper options, with Newcastle United's Odysseas Vlachodimos now a target, after failing to break into Eddie Howe's plans in his debut 2024/25 season. Nick Pope remained as No.1 on Tyneside, with Martin Dubravka as back up, and Vlachodimos played just 45 minutes of EFL Cup action across the entire campaign. The Greek international is rumoured to be furious over broken promises following his move from Nottingham Forest last summer and the No.1 spot could change again for Howe. Goalkeeper changes at Newcastle and Sevilla England international Aaron Ramsdale is being targeted on loan from Southampton with Pope and Dubravka both out of contract in 2026. Image via Diario AS Sevilla's current first-choice, Orjan Nyland, is also out of contract at the end of 2025/26 and the club have not indicated renewal plans for the Norway international at this stage. A fresh update from the Daily Mail claims Sevilla are exploring a loan offer of their own, if Newcastle secure Ramsdale, with Vlachodimos viewed as a perfect candidate to battle with Nyland. Howe is happy for the former to move on, after being unable to find a place for him, but he may seek assurances over his playing time in Spain before agreeing to a move. A sale will allow Newcastle to refocus on their key transfer priority with confidence growing over their ability to keep hold of talisman Alexander Isak despite Liverpool's latest transfer offer.
