Orange Jordan solidifies digital 'leadership' by launching 'Max it' application
The launch took place during a press conference organised under the patronage of Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat, according to an Orange Jordan statement.
This step while embodying 'Orange is Here', reveals the 'one application for everything' concept to customers elevating their whole experience in unprecedented ways. The launch was announced during a press conference that was attended by the Orange's executive management and media representatives.
The all-in-one new super app enables customers to manage My Orange, jood, Roamkit, Weinak, and Orange Money in one place. It was designed to serve the purpose of being their destination for the new features including multi-line management and the marketplace where customers can explore and purchase Orange's products including the non-telco products, in addition to the reward feature.
CEO of Orange Jordan Philippe Mansour emphasised that this launch further solidifies Orange's position as the "true responsible digital leader." The super app 'Max it' will be reshaping the future of customers' experience as they will no longer need to download more than one application to manage their multiple requirements. Furthermore, Orange's customers and other networks' subscribers will be benefiting from the new application and its revolutionary features.
Mansour also expressed his pride in Orange's vision that is coupled with the team's continued efforts and the "global expertise" to transform the whole experience of the customers in Jordan. The result is nothing but a breakthrough in the digital scene.
Given Orange's belief that the educational part should go hand in hand with the new products and services, it conducted a panel discussion on the sidelines of the press conference. Experts from Orange discussed the advantages of the application in detail and how customers can smoothly transition to it without affecting their current experience. They also shed light on the company's future plans with regard to the application, in particular and the customer experience in general.
Max it, which embodies Orange's spirit of innovation in Africa and the Middle East, has already been launched in several countries and will soon be expanded to other countries where Orange is present in the region.

King reviews economic vision's implementation progress in first half of 2025
AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday reviewed progress in implementation of the Economic Modernisation Vision's executive programme during the first half of this year. During a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, His Majesty was briefed by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and the concerned ministers on the vision's current projects and most notable achievements to date, according to a Royal Court statement. His Majesty highlighted the importance of committing to implementation within the set timeframe in order to ensure desired results are achieved. The King was also briefed on the outcomes of the Economic Modernisation Vision's second phase workshops, hosted by the Royal Hashemite Court over 12 days in July, during which experts from the private sector, academia, and civil society evaluated progress in the first phase of the vision (2023-2025) and provided recommendations for its second phase as the government begins drafting the executive programme for the years 2026-2029. His Majesty stressed the importance of considering the outcomes of these workshops and the initiatives and priorities proposed for the next phase of the vision's executive programme, noting that this mechanism promotes a participatory approach, the statement said. The King called for focusing on improving the quality of services in the second phase, urging open and transparent communication with citizens to clarify the vision's initiatives, and the government's action plans. Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohannad Shehadeh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, and Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh attended the meeting.

Cabinet approves draft amendments to National Military Service Law
AMMAN — The Cabinet, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Wednesday, endorsed the validating reasons for the 2025 amendments to the Military Service and Reserve Service Law, paving the way for its referral to the Legislative and Opinion Bureau for further action. The law has been given the urgency status, enabling its submission to the Lower House once Parliament reconvenes for its upcoming session, according to a Prime Ministry statement. The move follows Crown Prince Hussein's recent announcement regarding the reactivation of the National Service Programme. During a previous Cabinet meeting, prime minister said that the government, in collaboration with the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF), would complete all necessary preparations ahead of the programme's scheduled launch in February 2026. Funding for the initiative will be drawn from 2025's emergency allocations and integrated into the 2026 state budget, the statement said. The Cabinet also approved the 2025 bylaw for the fund for supporting vocational and technical education. The legislation is aimed at bolstering the fund's role in creating employment, promoting productive engagement, and supporting educational and training initiatives. The fund will provide financing for various projects and production branches, particularly in rural, Badia, and remote areas, in line with directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah. These efforts aim to generate local employment and reduce regional disparities, according to the statement. As part of the productive branches initiative, the government will subsidise workers by covering 50 per cent of the minimum wage, alongside JD25 towards social security contributions and an additional JD25 for transportation. To date, the fund has helped create nearly 10,000 job opportunities, with approximately 95 per cent of these positions secured by women in rural and Badia regions, the statement said. Green hydrogen As part of Jordan's strategy to position itself as a regional energy hub, the Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and China's United Energy Group. The agreement focuses on feasibility studies for a green hydrogen project, particularly in the field of green methanol production. The MoU forms part of broader efforts to attract green energy investment, leverage available incentives, localise clean industry, and generate employment, according to the statement. In support of tourism development, the Cabinet authorised the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group to proceed with partial financing of several key projects in Ajloun and the Dead Sea region in 2025. These include infrastructure work for Ajloun Forest Reserve (Phases I and II), a visitor centre and trail connecting to the historic castle, as well as the Dead Sea public beach project, a beachfront park, and the rehabilitation of surrounding structures.

World Bank continues to review restructuring of National Employment Programme
AMMAN — The World Bank is in the process of finalising a restructuring plan for its Employment and Skills Project in Jordan, aimed at boosting private sector job creation and enhancing workforce skills. Citing a World Bank document, Al Mamlaka said that the restructuring is currently under review for final approval, with the goal of signing it with the Jordanian government. The primary objectives of the restructuring are to "improve implementation efficiency, expand the scope of impact, and increase the number of beneficiaries." In particular, the restructuring focuses on better aligning workforce skills with the demands of the labour market. The document emphasises that the restructuring will retain the project's strategic goals, including supporting the employment of Jordanians, particularly targeting women and youth. These groups are central to the project's mission of expanding economic opportunities. The project has already made significant strides, according to the document. Key achievements include providing on-the-job training to thousands of beneficiaries and fostering stronger partnerships between the government and private sector. The project, the document said, has contributed to improving the management systems of government programmes tied to the labour market, notably through enhanced monitoring and follow-up mechanisms. It has also played a role in regulatory reforms designed to help employers more easily recruit skilled workers. Launched in April 2022 as part of Jordan's response to the COVID-19 crisis, the initiative was aimed at boosting job recovery and increasing employment among youth (ages 18 to 40) in the private sector. The restructuring follows a comprehensive review of the project's performance and progress, with a focus on streamlining activities and maximising the impact of financial resources. Earlier reports said that the World Bank had approved a $112 million funding package in December 2021 to support the project. Of that amount, $46.5 million (41.5 per cent) has already been disbursed. The National Employment Programme, which the project supports, provides wage subsidies, on-the-job training grants, and incentives for hiring women and people with disabilities. The programme aims to improve economic participation rates and ensure equal job opportunities. As part of the restructuring, the project's closure date will be extended to July 31, 2028. This extension will allow for the completion of remaining activities and the expansion of its impact to benefit as many individuals as possible, while ensuring that targeted performance indicators are met, Al Mamlaka said.
